  10. QUESTION:
    ♫~Summer Kpop Survey!! ^^ ♪?
    Hi =)

    HAPPY SUMMER! =D lol.. sorry my questions are random (as usual) -_-"

    1. Songs that remind you of summer/get you in the mood for it?

    2. Choose some Kpop stars to be cast in any one of these Kdramas, and yes lol you may cast yourself as the lead character xD OR if you don't watch Kdramas, just keep reading until it gets to the other part of the instructions..

    Choose one (or all if you're greedy xDD)
    ~ Boys Over Flowers
    ~ You're Beautiful
    ~ Coffee Prince

    NOW if you don't watch Kdramas, erm choose a Disney movie theme cuz idk what else to give you..
    Suggestions~ Snow White/Cinderella/Mulan/Aladdin/etc.? =_=

    **Yes and feel free to change up the storylines and endings if you want.. ^^ If you can't remember the characters' names in the Kdramas just google it...**

    3. If you were on WGM (We Got Married) who would you want to be your husband (or wife if you're a guy)? Or make a list if you can't decide..

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    My answers lol
    1. Shake it uuuuup~♫ by SuJu, Green Peas by SS501 cuz it reminds me of being around a campfire on a summer night =)
    2. I'm doing Boys Over Flowers LOL
    Jandi ~ me...hehe I really wouldn't mind!
    Junpyo ~ I could imagine Key in this role for some reason (idk why..) lol but I'm gonna go with Joon from MBLAQ! He curled his hair before to look like "ramen"(?) on Idol Army and fits the role anyways
    Jihoo ~ Jaejoong from DBSK.. 'nuff said 😉
    Yijeong ~ Umm Jungmin from SS501..? He seems like quite the player when he does that smirk lol--but I don't know how good he is with pottery 0_0?
    Woobin ~ Heechul from SuJu lol cuz I remember the actual character kept saying stuff like "Hey yo" so I thought of Heechul's gangster English xDD
    And instead of ending up with Junpyo in the end I'm choosing Jaejoong (er I mean Jihoo..) ^_~
    Alright I'm doing a Disney movie theme for fun xD (Mulan)
    Mulan ~ Me (I don't think I can save anyone though ><;) Mushu ~ Mir from MBLAQ cuz he never stops talking! Cri-kee ~ .....Um.. sorry Yesung, but I think you fit this role ^^; Ling ~ I think Heechul fits here too lol Yao ~ How about Kangin haha..maybe.. Chien-Po ~ Shindong I suppose..? Shang ~ No idea, I'll just randomly put Jonghyun here then xDD 3. I want to be with interesting people so it'd be much more fun ^^ Like Yesung, Onew, Mir, or Key..haha Byee! ^^ @love suju & shinee ~ Actually I think Yesung would fit the role of Sneezy quite nicely..haha cuz in EHB on the final episode, Yesung had some interesting reactions to the lemon and vinegar spray lol. And LOL @Clandestine Vampire's BOF and You're Beautiful "stories" xDD
  11. QUESTION:
    How to get into acting?
    Hi! I'm 14 years old and a bit of a shorty - I'm 5'2", which I consider somewhat "vertically challenged" 😉 - but I'm under the impression that height doesn't matter a ton in acting; if you can act, you've got the part. I've always loved acting and modeling, but obviously I'm far too short to model, and I don't think I'll be getting much taller; an inch or two at absolute most. (Darn, I was hoping to be 5'4" :/) Anyways, the only things I've done acting-wise are things like Drama Club (we just practiced acting and skits and stuff, and put on a small play - Cinderella, where I was the evil stepmother - with self-provided costumes and all that), Character Counts plays, and one musical in elementary school (I was in chorus though, as I'm not the best singer and was only in 5th grade, so naturally only 1 of the 30 or so 5th graders who tried out got a part; they all went to the 7th and 8th graders). I did stage crew all through middle school; I tried out for the play one time and didn't make it. (It was Alice in Wonderland, and I tried out for both Alice - even though they claimed they didn't have the blonde hair blue eyes bias for that character, I swear they did, because the girl they chose, guess what? Was blonde. - and the Queen of Hearts, since I usually end up getting scripted as the evil characters...)
    Good thing, though? I live in Chicago! Should be plenty of opportunities there...right..?
    Anyways, I used to take tap and ballet when I was little, and as for sports, I've done figure skating, competitive cheerleading, and recreational/park district soccer, if any of that matters. Ah, and I am a gifted piano player. (I can play a few basic things on the guitar, too, and can play the English hand bells and hand chimes well, but I don't really think any of those really count...) So how should I go about this? I guess get into dance, singing, and acting lessons? Should I do those just through a park district, or local dance/singing/acting group like the Metropolis, or what? Is acting even worth my time, since I'm so old? (Don't worry, after figure skating I'm used to hearing "you're old" all the time.) Or are the chances so few, especially since I can't even make the middle school play, that it's not worth it? :/ I'll be a freshman this year, so I guess I can try out for the high school play, but I'm not really super-expecting a big role or anything... but... I dunno. Help, please...?
    • ANSWER:
      This is the real deal: to be famous, you have to have a passion and drive to act. If you are just looking for movie auditions for your own fame, you will get NOWHERE! About 85-95% film actors never make a name for themselves but do the job because they love it too much to let it go.
      First off, local community theatre troupes are a SUPERB way to gain experience for stage AND screen acting! Audition for as many theatres as you can, no matter how big or small the role you might get is or the likelihood of even getting a role. Theatre is well-respected on a resume, even for a film actor!
      Secondly, you need acting lessons and the ability to accept small roles in local independent or student films. Check out Craigslist or regional websites like actingmidwest.com or newenglandfilm.com for auditions (Craigslist may not be legit so approach with caution!).
      If you want to move up from independent and student films, you need experience and training (and a headshot!) to submit to an agency. If the agency asks for ANY money, it's a scam!
      And just an FYI with the height thing, short actresses run rampant in theatre! It really limits opportunities for the tall gals like me! UGH!
      This is the real deal! Good luck with your future endeavors!
    • ANSWER:
      1. What ways of communicating do you understand? Road signs Braille Semaphore Morse code sign language other.
      None of these. Some road signs, but I don't drive so not all of them. I understand the movie pannel at work. It's a bunch of lights on a board that tells me if a movie is on, in ads and trailers, feature or credits or off and in which screen (I'm a projectionist).
      2. What was your favourite film from your childhood? (Disney or fairytale)
      I supposed it varied a lot, but I remember loving Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.
      3. What do you think is the most significant object in Snow white and the seven dwarfs?
      The chest in which the hunter was supposed to bring back Snow White's heart.
      4. What do you think the most memorable part is in Snow white?
      Well I just thought of the chest, so when the Queen hands it over to the hunter is pretty fresh in my memory right now. If I hadn't been influenced by the first question, I would say either when she runs in the scary-faced trees or when she starts cleaning the dwarfs' house.
      5. What colour/s would you associate with Snow white?
      Red. I tried to answer that without thinking about it, so red is the colour that came up to me. I guess that would be influenced by a number of things: her red lips, the apple, - was the chest red or is it just because the deer's heart must have been? - her silly bow, the lining of her cape. Now that I think about it though, there's a lot of black in that movie.
      6. What do you think is the most significant object in Peter pan?
      His flute.
      7. What do you think is the most memorable part is in Peter Pan?
      I can think of several Tinkerbell jealousy related moments, like when she tries to stop Peter from taking a kiss from Wendy and ends up stuck in a drawer or when she's looking at her butt in the hand mirror she's walking on. And then tracing the steps to Peter's lair for Hook.
      8. What colour/s would you associate with Peter Pan?
      Green
      9. What do you think is the most significant object in Cinderella?
      The darn slipper. No contest.
      10. What do you think is the most memorable part is in Cinderella?
      When she gets out of the room at the end and runs down "wait!" after the butler or whatever he was to try on the slipper.
      11. What colour/s would you associate with Cinderella?
      Blue
      12. What do you think is the most significant object in Alice in Wonderland?
      Her blue dress with the apron.
      13. What do you think is the most memorable part is in Alice in Wonderland?
      Her falling down the rabbit hole.
      14. What colour/s would you associate with Alice in Wonderland?
      Blue.
      15. In general would mood would you think each of these colours set?
      • Red > anger
      • Blue> peace
      • Green> I can't associate this with anything but Ireland and that makes me feel magnificent
      • Orange> fun
      • Yellow> sunny, bright day
      • Pink> makes me slightly queasy
      • Purple> violence
      • Black> formal
      • Grey> not sure
      16. What children’s film/story were these objects in (either Disney or fairytale)
      • Pink rose> Beauty and the beast
      • Glass slipper> cinderella
      • Red apple> Snow white (and I didn't even think of it for significant object!)
      • Tea party - Alice in wonderland
      • Pixie dust - Peter Pan
      • Gingerbread house - Hansel and Gretel
      • Cheshire cat - Alice in Wonderland
      • Red cloak - Sleeping Beauty
      • Grumpy - Snow white
      • Alligator - Bernard and Bianca, the mice one or whatever the English title of it was.
  17. QUESTION:
    Original pre-edited "gruesome" fairy tales?
    Doing a research paper on how fairy tales have been altered to suit "impressionable minds". I'm having trouble locating the pre-edited and after-edit versions of tales.
    Help, please? Links are appriciated!
    Thanks!
    • ANSWER:
      1. Grimm's Grimmest by Wilhelm Grimm (Translator), Jacob Grimm (Author) Paperback edition (1997) from Chronicle Books. Return to the Hardcover edition (2005).
      These are original, bloody tales collected by the Brothers Grimm. Very few end with "they lived happily ever after" and even less beginning with "once upon a time".
      Containing cannabilism, incest, murder, sex, and a host of many things not consider "good" for children. Many of these stories evoke visions of Vincent Price rather than the canned, sanitized Disney movies. These are stories of goodness and purity most often - not always! - winning the day. The wicked are punished brutally for their misdeeds.
      The text of the 19 tales in this collection is based on the 1822 edition of Kinder- und Hausmärchen (Nursery and Household Tales) by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm--before the tales were expurgated and rewritten to make them more "suitable" for children. It's bound in a handsome faux-antique format, and lavishly illustrated by Tracy Arah Dockray (15 full-page color paintings, and a black-and-white drawing on nearly every page). Most of the tales will be unfamiliar to American and English readers, who may be surprised by the graphic descriptions of incest, murder, mutilation, and cannibalism. Chronicle Books has done us a service in helping restore to our adult culture these vivid, evocative folktales. --Fiona Webster --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
      Murder, kidnapping, cruel and unusual punishment, violent revenge these are not the bedtime stories mummy used to read. Newly reissued with a fresh cover, Grimm's Grimmest presents nineteen original, unsanitized, wholly unholy tales as they were first collected by the Brothers Grimm circa 1822 all fiendishly illustrated. The tales harken back to a time when travelers risked roasting or worse, and bad manners yielded frightful consequences. An insightful introduction makes sense of the mayhem, shedding light on how the Grimm brothers went from macabre to mainstream in fairly short order. From the true horror of Aschenputtel (the original Cinderella story) to Rapunzel's dark secret, Grimm's Grimmest features the authentic stories born long ago in the land of the Black Forest, at a time when fairy tales never ended happily ever after.
      2. The Grimmest of Grimm Lysander Press (October 2004)
      by Jacob Grimm (Author), Wilhelm Grimm (Author), Terry Beal (Illustrator), Benchacco (Illustrator), Jon Ferril (Illustrator), Luc Hebert (Illustrator), Kelly Levy (Illustrator), Kathryn McLaughlin (Illustrator), Karen Petroff (Illustrator), Cyrus Rua (Reader) The stories collected by Jacob & Wilhelm Grimm in the early 19th century reflected life as known to the German people of the time – fantastic, yet often unpredictable & pernicious. Patriotic folklorists, they began their collection of tales with the intent of preserving the endangered German oral tradition from a Napoleonic rule intent on suppressing local culture.
      From their earliest release & translation, conservative parents & ecclesiastics disparaged the tales for their vestigial, raw, Gothic content & the brothers & a myriad of editors began to soften them to demure morality & sweetness to make appeal to the upper classes what began as earthy peasant fare. This is no such revision, sanitized of objectionable material; these are the grimmest.
      The tales themselves are only part of the story of this volume, which is lushly illustrated with almost a hundred pieces from contemporary artists Terry Beal, Benchacco, Jon Ferril, Luc Hebert, Kelly Levy, Kathryn McLaughlin, Karen Petroff, Katy Rose & Cyrus Rua which perfectly complement the translations, lending movement and reality to the stories, transcending and transforming what most would think of as mere faerie tales.
      3. The Hard Facts of the Grimms' Fairy Tales (Paperback)
      by Maria Tatar (Author)Tatar charts the evolution of the tales through manuscript form and the various editions, and offers what she maintains is the first complete English translation of the prefaces to the first and second editions. The Grimms abandoned a scholarly effort to salvage pure remnants of folk poetry, advances Tatar, and "with each new edition, the tales veered more sharply away from the rough-hewn simplicity of their first versions to a sanitized and stylized literary form that proved attractive to both parents and children." She demonstrates how the Grimms purged the collection of references to sexuality and incestuous desire but intensified violence, particularly when it took the form of revenge. In opposition to child psychologist Bruno Bettelheim, Tatar warns that some cautionary tales may instill fear, rather than confidence, in children; regarding "Bluebeard," she faults Bettelheim for turning a tale depicting the most brutal kind of serial murders into a story about idle female curiosity and duplicity. Tatar (Spellbound: Studies on Mesmerism and Literature) chairs the German literature department at Harvard University. Illustrated.
      Copyright 1987 Reed Business Information, Inc. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
      From Library Journal
      Tatar brings into focus both familiar and not-so-familiar fairy tales as she by highlighting a number of important areas: the genesis and editorial history of the tales as they evolved from folk material to children's stories; interpretive approaches; nature and structure; the humble, fearless hero and humbled, hard-working heroine; villains; and, briefly, revenge. Her observations are unburdened by Marxist, psychoanalytical, or pedagogical biases, instead resting on sound and thorough scholarship and careful reading and comparison of texts. The absence of a bibliography is lamentable but should not prevent acquisition of this exceptional study by every library with a fairy tale collection.
      4. Off with Their Heads! Fairy Tales and the Culture of Childhood (Paperback) by Maria Tatar (Author)
      Provocative observations on the uses (and misuses) of ``classic'' fairy tales are overwhelmed by academic jargon in this oddly disjointed and disappointing study from Tatar (German Literature/Harvard). Expanding on her The Hard Facts of the Grimms' Fairy Tales (1987), Tatar examines the transformation of often ribald adult folk-tale prototypes into sometimes horrifyingly violent children's stories rooted in the assumptions and realities of a particular social context. At the time when such well-known collectors as the Brothers Grimm, Charles Perrault, and Hans Christian Andersen were combining folk legends with the children's literary conventions of ``cautionary'' and ``exemplary'' stories, Tatar says, infant death, abandonment by parents, and starvation were not uncommon. Today, Tatar advises, these ``cruel'' and ``sadistic'' tales, anachronistic at best, with heroines earning redemption through ``a servile attitude'' and obedience, should yield to ``a creative folklore...reinvented by each generation of storytellers and reinvested with creative social energy.'' The author fails to elaborate on this point, however, with more than sketchy suggestions about discussing stories with children. Tatar does provide a neat common-sensical corrective to the interpretive inversions of Bettelheim's The Uses of Enchantment (1976), in which child victims become psychologically muddled villains (the starving Hansel and Gretel, Tatar points out, have reasons to devour the witch's house far more compelling than Bettelheim's ``uncontrolled cravings''). The author also offers an interesting dissection of the pervasive sexism of many fairy tales (why all the female villains?). The dreary monograph form of much of the book never quite gels, unfortunately, with Tatar's practical, if undeveloped, popular exhortations.       Review
      As provocative and stimulating as her The Hard Facts of the Grimms' Fairy Tales, this book should give a salutary shock to everyone who brings children and tales together, convincing them that "every interpretation is a rewriting' and encouraging them "to identify what is transmitted in the stories we tell children.'
      Grimm's Grimmest has more incommon with Freddy Kruger and Jeffery Dahmer than Disney - definitely not for the squeamish.
    • ANSWER:
      J.O.N.A.S
      The Jonas Brothers seem to be your typical teen rock band hoping to make it to the big time. They travel the country in their rickety tour bus, performing shows, selling homemade CDs and meeting fans. What a life! What the fans don't know is that the Jonas Brothers are actually J.O.N.A.S. - Junior Operatives Networking as Spies - who, along with their secret agent dad, are under assignment from a super-secret government agency out to thwart evil -- usually in the guise of Dr. Harvey Fleischman, a diabolical dentist out to take over the world's young adults. However, thwarting evil and saving the world can be difficult when you're also going to high school, keeping their secret identity from Mom, and being stalked by Stella Malone, a teenage reporter working undercover who's trying to get the behind-the-scenes scoop on your up-and-coming band.
