Empty Sky Movie

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
What does it mean when you play a video game or watch a movie and want to live the life of the main character?
I recently played a video game and have felt like I want to live the exact life of that character in the future..am I going insane? This has happened before, I feel like I want to cry because I feel so empty and pointless. Help anyone? I don't know what it means, that I feel this way. It makes me sad because I beat the game and I feel like its gone forever and I'll never have it again, or like the story is over and I don't know what to do I want to cry. I want to live the game as a life. I don't know why I feel this way. But I am sad. Any psychologists out there?

    • ANSWER:
I'm in my twenties and I still wish I was superman. I want to fly through the skies and save the world. Sounds ridiculous, but I would love that. If a genie gave me a wish, I'd definitely wish to have Superman's powers. So imo, its not weird to want to be a video game character. It just means that character connected to you and it was a good game.

May I ask what game it was?

  2. QUESTION:
What are some good camera angles and shots for this particular part of my film?
I have a post apocalyptic film nearing it's wrap up, but all we need to do is film the beginning sequence of my main character trekking the abandoned streets and back yards of a small town. He is obviously alone to some extent (no, this isn't a typical zombie apocalypse movie). I need some good ideas for some shots and angles that will express his aloneness and make him seem isolated. It goes without saying that oblique angles will be the exact opposite of what I need, that's more of a mess around thing. This part of my film needs to be serious, show loneliness, and sort of scare the viewer or put them in the protagonists shoes. All of my ideas have already been written down and storyboards and I'm afraid it won't be enough. In other words, I'm all out of creative juices. Any and all ideas will be appreciated.

    • ANSWER:
a steadicam would be your best friend here, but considering you are using yahoo to get answers, i am assuming you don't have the budget...the best way to "put the audience in the protagonist's shoes" is to go hand-held (this is where the steadicam would help), and have the shots of desolate streets be fromthe character's pov. maybe after an opening series of pov shots, in different areas, moving of course, cut to a wide locked-off, with the protagonist framed center (or even off to 1/3 of the frame) in a vast, empty landscape? a pan up to the sky, after that cut, would be effective, as well.

  5. QUESTION:
What color was the 'sky' of the universe before the Big Bang?
If we could see the birth of the universe, would we see the white nothingness that's often portrayed in movies when they want to symbolize a completely empty dimension,or would it be black as night?

    • ANSWER:
      This documentary may enlighten you...

  6. QUESTION:
What are some of the 'consequences' of the birth of Jesus Christ for humankind?
Following watching the Nativity Story movie, my religion class was asked to compose 10 to 15 lines on some of the consequences that came with his birth. Any idea of what one could be? I've searched on the Internet to no avail and I'm not a very religious person either.

    • ANSWER:
There are no consequences, because Jesus never existed. The consequences of Christianity have been large:
      The inquisitions
      The crusades
      The Holocaust
      The book burnings
      The heretic burnings
Countless wars in the name of religion
Backing of the institution of slavery
      Hindering of science
      Hindering of medicine
      Hindering of social advancement
      Hindering of education
Child rapes by religious leaders, and the cover-ups
      ...and much more.

There's no reliable evidence that Jesus even existed. The story of Jesus is just a myth bolted together out of previous myths plus stories and prophecies from the Old Testament -- created in the 40's and 50's by Paul of Tarsus (who exhibited evidence of epilepsy and had delusions of Christ talking to him), the other apostles, the unknown authors of the gospels in the 70's or later, and many other people. The reliable evidence for this is overwhelming.

Paul and the other epistle writers don't know any biographical details of Jesus' life, or even the time of his earthly existence. They don't refer to Bethlehem, Nazareth, Galilee, Calvary or Golgotha — or any pilgrimages to what should have been holy sites of Jesus' life. They also don't mention any miracles that Jesus was supposed to have worked, his virgin birth, his trial, the empty tomb, his moral teachings, his disciples, or even when he existed. To them Jesus was largely a sky-god, who existed in the spiritual past.

If Jesus had actually existed, Paul would have written about his life, disciples, and teachings. Paul did not write about his any of this.

If Jesus had actually existed, the gospels would have been written in first person format. Instead, they were written in third person format like a Harry Potter story, with the authors of Matthew and Luke extensively plagiarizing from Mark.

If Jesus had actually existed, at least one of the approximately 30 local historians of the first century would have written about him. No historian of the first century wrote about him or his disciples.

      Therefore Jesus didn't exist.

    • ANSWER:
have you looked at the "system properties" to see how much memory you have? if the computer is VERY old, it may not have enough memory to fun even the most basic programs, including word. also, have you emptied your cache and checked for fragmented disk space? you might want to call and see if you can find someone (reasonably priced) who can clean your system for you. but first, see how much "power/performance" this system has to begin with. hand me downs are good but if it's a very old system, it won't let you do what you probably want to do given all of the new internet opportunities available (i.e. downloading TV from hulu, downloading movies, YouTube, etc.). You might find that an investment in a new PC is a better way to go long term.

  13. QUESTION:
What is the literary device in this poem?
    Friendship

    Friendship is love,
    Without friendship love means nothing!
    Without friendship love is empty…
    Without friendship love is boring...!

    Friendship means sharing…
People learn to share from friendship,
Share everything they have in life,

    Friendship is like stars,
Even though we always see them together
    Always mean to each other…
    But,
    Sometimes they argue!

    Friendship is like flower,
    Soft but strong!
    Friendship is like sun,
    Bright and beautiful!

    Friendship is everything in life,
Life without friendship is like life without air…
Life without friendship is like eats without food
    And
Life without friendship is like body without soul…

    Friendship is wide!
    Anybody can be our friend,
Our parents, our grandparents, our sister, our brother and even our school principal!

    Friendship….
    Is everything!

    • ANSWER:
The literary devices are boring repetition and poor similes which do not seem to make sense. Rewrite this poem but think about your use of imagery. Sustain the image selected and make it logical.

      "Friendship is like stars,
Even though we always see them together
      Always mean to each other…
      But,
      Sometimes they argue! "

Okay, do you mean movie stars or the stars in the sky? Either way your point is not made. The link to the simile of a star is not a sensible one.

"Friendship is like flower, ( should this not be like a flower?)
      Soft but strong! "

This again does not logically make sense. Why do you use the exclamation mark here?

The poem is a random set of relatively unrelated points serving no purpose to make a whole.

Check out my notes on the poem:

      Friendship

      Friendship is love,
Without friendship love means nothing! ( This is not logical...Love and friendship are often separate entities)
Without friendship love is empty…( How is love empty? If you have love, you have love. )
Without friendship love is boring...! ( How is love boring? What is love in your assessment? )

      Friendship means sharing…
People learn to share from friendship, ( This again is not a given truth )
Share everything they have in life, ( Again, I doubt this is a fact )

      Friendship is like stars,
Even though we always see them together
      Always mean to each other…
      But,
Sometimes they argue! ( Already discussed! )

      Friendship is like flower,
      Soft but strong!
      Friendship is like sun,
Bright and beautiful! ( You are grasping at any comparison without thought )

Friendship is everything in life, ( Why is this true? Your assessment is too broad )
Life without friendship is like life without air…( Illogical ...one cannot survive without air )
Life without friendship is like eats without food ( this is just silly )
      And
Life without friendship is like body without soul…( here you may have the beginning of something...expand it )

      Friendship is wide!
Anybody can be our friend, ( Not true! I'll pass on Charles Manson! )
Our parents, our grandparents, our sister, our brother and even our school principal! (Really?????)

      Friendship….
Is everything! ( No ...you have not proved this. Again the statement is too broad and not sustained by the argument of your poem )

      Go back and rewrite.

  14. QUESTION:
Would it be more of a sin to look at religious themed porn than to look at regular porn?
We’re talking about adult movies where actors play the parts of priest, nuns or pretend to be Muslims or Wiccans. Is looking at porn with these particular sort of themes any worse than looking at porn in general?

    • ANSWER:
I walked into this empty church I had no place else to go
When the sweetest voice I've ever heard, whispered to my soul
I don't need to be forgiven for loving you so much
It's written in the scriptures, it's written there in blood
I even heard the angels declare it from above
There ain't no cure, there ain't no cure, there ain't no cure for love

There ain't no cure for love, there ain't no cure for love
All the rocket ships are climbing through the sky
The holy books are open wide, the doctors working day and night
But they'll never ever find that cure, that cure for love

No cure for love, there ain't no cure for love
No cure for love, there ain't no cure for love

  15. QUESTION:
How do I stop my mind from worrying all the time?
Sometimes I keep worrying about things I shouldn't even be worried about and I can't get it out of my head and it really bothers me. My mind works in mysterious ways and life is too short to keep worrying, especially when you shouldn't. How do I stop it?

    • ANSWER:
If you start trying to stop worrying, you create a new worry: how to stop worry. Then you start worrying about the worries; then you double them. There is no way...now you will go crazy, mad; now you are like a dog chasing its own tail

Instead, try this: simply look at your worries and anxious thoughts indifferently, aloof; you watch them as if they don’t belong to you. They are there; you accept them. Just like clouds moving in the sky: worries moving in the mind, in the inner sky. Traffic moving on the road: thoughts moving on the inner road. You just watch them.

You simply watch. Let the worries go on; you are not concerned. When you are not concerned, worries start dropping by themselves. This is the miracle. Because your concern gives them energy. You feed them, you vitalize these problems, and then you ask how to stop them. And when you ask how to stop them, they have already overpowered you.

Don’t ask wrong questions. Worries and anxiety are there, naturally; life is such a vast and complicated phenomenon, these things are bound to be there. Watch. Accept them — if you stop resisting they disappear on their own. In fact, one day you will discover that they were your own creation, they didn't come from anywhere else.

But remember, trying to stop the worries doesn't work. Simply accept them and watch them as if you are watching a movie. Forget about getting rid of these problems or stopping them, and one day suddenly you realize just by watching, looking, a gap arises. The worries are no longer there, the traffic has stopped, the road is empty, nobody passing…. In that emptiness, suddenly you have a glimpse of your true nature without all these worries. That glimpse can become the beginning of a break through.

  17. QUESTION:
What is this place I was taken to during meditation?
I did meditation with a Reiki teacher friend of mine and I went into a trance during which I was seeing a "different world" in which a white robed creature appeared and "talked" to me. During that state I was completely unaware of my physical surroundings and I was also experiencing a very high degree of peace and harmony with the rest of the world. What is that trance state called? What is this place I went to?

    • ANSWER:
The sense of peace and harmony is good -- it sounds like you were gifted with a bit of bliss from existence.

As for the images: the mind is very clever and cunning, and can create all kinds of ways to fool you into thinking special things are happening. Thoughts, images, projections, memories from movies, from TV -- all these things are simply creations of the mind. Give them no juice. Just be present, watch, be aware, and let the mind do what it does. Allow the thoughts and images to pass like clouds floating through an empty sky.

  18. QUESTION:
Can anybody plz explain me all the parts of the movies Final Fantasy?
Plz explain as wat the hell is going on in the movies final fantasy-1 to 12

    • ANSWER:
      A lot goes on hon.lol.
The story begins with a strange black tower of energy, which would later come to be known as the "Pillar of Darkness", appearing in the Sea of Japan off the coast of Sadogashima. The tower's appearance causes seismic fluctuations that confound geologist Joe Hayakawa and his team. Returning home, Joe finds his pregnant wife Marie outside setting up equipment with which to study the phenomenon. Suddenly, a large crimson dragon-like creature with what looks like a gun barrel for a head emerges from the Pillar, and proceeds to lay to waste the military forces that try to attack it. When all seems lost, another dragon appears from the Pillar; this one silver-white and serpentine in appearance, with what looks like a blade for a head. The two creatures proceed to destroy each other, causing a reaction in the Pillar of Darkness.

Twelve years later, fraternal twins Ai and Yu Hayakawa find and board an interdimensional train to Wonderland, a strange world connected to Earth by the Pillar of Darkness, to find their parents, Joe and Marie, who have not returned from their latest of many trips there. On the train they meet Lisa Pacifist, a woman with special powers known as Kigen Arts.

When the trio arrive in Wonderland, they find out just how different it is from Earth, meeting a number of allies and enemies. Allies include Chobi, a chocobo who quickly takes a mutual liking to Yu and joins the group on their journey, and Kaze, a mysterious amnesiac gunman with a grudge against a sword-wielding warrior clad in white who he believes responsible for the destruction of his homeworld. Kaze wields the Magun, a gun powered by bullets filled with "Soil" which summons a variety of great creatures to destroy his enemies.

Enemies include Earl Tyrant, a spoiled brat of a child living in the floating fortress palace of Gaudium as well as the ruler of Wonderland. Tyrant has four underlings referred to collectively as the Lords of Gaudium: Fungus, a humanoid mushroom man with super strength and regenerative powers; Herba, a humanoid plant woman with a shallow, self-centred attitude; Pist Shaz XI, a humanoid shark creature made of water who takes pride in analyzing the data of his opponents; and Oscha, a mysterious black humanoid figure whose face is always hidden behind a mask and Tyrant's closest servant. Also in service of the Earl is Makenshi, a sword-wielding warrior clad in white, though he prefers to be alone, staying away from the antics in the throne room, and seems to have his own agenda.

Suddenly, Lou and Moogle arrive. Lou destroys the fusion machine, freeing Ai and Yu, as well as Lisa and Kaze, but gets impaled on one of Chaos' tentacles as punishment. She dies in Lisa's arms, wondering if the way she feels about Kaze is mutual.

Crux, who had disposed of all of Kaze's Soil bullets and Kumo's Mist bottles, saved one empty bottle for Kumo, which she gives to him. Revealing himself to be alive, Kumo uses the empty bottle to perform one last summon, transforming himself into Mist to summon the ultimate Mist Dragon, and sacrificing himself to stall Chaos and give Kaze an opportunity to attack. Despite having no Soil bullets, Kaze remarks that "[he] didn't have any bullets the last time, but [he] was still able to reach Chaos"; Kaze has regained his memory. Lou speaks to Kaze and tells him that he can "use [her]". Fueled by Kaze's tears, Lou's body dissipates into a Soil bullet, and the truth about Soil is revealed: it is a magical substance, made of the crystallized souls of those who died fighting Chaos. Moogle decides to sacrifice himself to provide Kaze with a second Soil bullet. Finally Kaze sacrifices himself to become the third Soil bullet, leaving Lisa to fire the Magun and summon Bahamut. The two serpents fly into the sky and clash.

The epilogue plays over the credits: Chobi and the Comodeen survived the attack on Jane, with Ciel-Chobi flying through the sky, and the Comodeen follow closely behind in the airship, Silvia. Ai, Yu, Lisa, Joe and Marie are unconscious, but alive, on a floating piece of the remains of Gaudium. One of Kaze's earrings lies next to Lisa as a tear rolls down her cheek. Fabula leaves a cryptic message that the adventures of the "intrepid travellers" are not yet over, and will possibly be revealed "when we meet again".

  20. QUESTION:
Will someone recommend a specific poem for me to read?
Something by a writer that is somewhat well known but a poem that is NOT? I think it is time I read some things but the well known poems I have already experienced. Thanks, I appreciate the efforts.

    • ANSWER:
Gates of the Temple by Mark Doty

Brief spells, over the course of months:
she no longer recalled the names of her daughters
and felt sure that her own mother — gone decades now –
was on a train, on the way, if only she knew at which station…

Then, standing over the washing machine, pouring in a cup of fabric softener
(gesture she knew so well the cup seemed to fill itself, fill again),
she looked at her husband of all those years with a sudden shyness.

Did he know then or later she had forgotten him?
I would be afraid to ask, it would be terrible to ask.

My friend tells a story, in one of his essays: how he met a man
in one of the gone movie houses in Times Square, where desire played
almost freely. The object of the seeker’s adoration: running shoes.
      Or, more exactly,
the shoes were gates without which the temple could not be entered.
My friend wanted to be kind — he’d seen the man often —
so when he needed new sneakers he said — they’d never spoken —
Is there a special kind you like? Stricken, his longing wrenched
into too bright a light, the man could hardly — he whispered,
as though through a throat half-closed, Light blue,
      and he fled.
      So Chip bought sky-blue sneakers,
but do I need to tell you? The one who’d spoken
was too stripped or shamed to take pleasure in what
naming his desire had brought him.

There’s a man in the house, the woman would say
to the neighbors later, I don’t know, he moved in. But that afternoon,
when she admired him until she had no idea how many cups
of flowery blue she’d emptied into the laundry,

he took the cup out of her hands and lifted her,
nearly carried her into the bedroom, and though only one of them
had forgotten the other, they made love with the fierce curiosity
of two who have just met.

  22. QUESTION:
What is the most photogenic Ghost Town in the Southwest?

I like Oatman and Bisbee. Not true ghost towns though.

    Any I have missed?

    • ANSWER:
As you note, Oatman and Bisbee (and most of the other ones mentioned above) have permanent populations and businesses and are not true ghost towns (really more historic communities).

For true ghost towns in the southwest (ie: mostly or entirely abandoned), I would rate the following as being the most photogenic:

Rhyolite, NV - There is the famous 3-story building where only the front is standing and so you see sky through the windows.

Animas Forks, CO - There is an old mansion with bay windows against a impressive Rocky Mountain background.

Cabezon, NM - Many old buildings, some quite interesting with the distinctive Cabezon Peak in the background (not open to the public).

Vulture Mine, AZ - Several interesting buildings, stark desert scenery.

Swansea, AZ - Many buildings, include old cabins in a row. Also nice desert scenery.

Sasco, AZ - Ok... maybe not the most photogenic, but a neat place with several buildings (and the source of my screen name).

Of old communities with nicely preserved historic districts, in addition to Bisbee, Jerome, Oatman and Silverton mentioned above, I would add the following:

Saint Elmo, CO - Several great buildings along a well preserved main street.

Mogollon, NM - Many great buildings located in a scenic steep-walled canyon (once used as a movie set).

Tombstone, AZ - Getting kinda touristy now, but many great and photogenic historic buildings if you look past the hype.

Chase Street - Clifton, AZ - One of the most amazing and largely abandoned main streets located against towering desert cliffs. Picture one of the main streets from Bisbee or Jerome, but with 90% of the buildings empty.

  23. QUESTION:
Anyone have suggestions on what to prepare for flying +20 hours to Indonesia with a 10 months-old baby boy?
My son will be 10 months old in October and I plan to travel to Indonesia. It will take more than 20 hours flight with 1-2 layover in HongKong and or Singapore/ Tokyo. I may be going by myself with baby as daddy may goes later and fly back home to The US together. Anyone has experiences and suggestions what to prepare?

    • ANSWER:
Not sure where you are flying from, but do the layover in Tokyo or Hong Kong if possible. Singapore is right next to Indonesia, so doing a layover there will give you no benefit as the flight time will be the same.

If your flight time is 20 hours then I assume you are flying from New York. or thereabouts. Flight time to Tokyo will be around 13 hours and from there to Indonesia will be about 6.5.

Traveling with infants is not as bad as you might expect. If you child is one that tends to fall asleep in the car then they will fall right asleep in an airplane as well. What I can recommend for the actual flight is when you book tickets see if you can get bulkhead seating. A lot of airlines will give you priority for this because you have a child with you. if you can't get bulkhead, get aisle seating as you will be up and down for changes a lot.

If your child is fairly regular regarding feedings, then set your watch and make sure you start feeding before your child begins crying. Bring plenty of food, and if you are bottle feeding bring at least two bottles and plenty of formula. I suggest bringing an empty thermos bottle (they won't let you take a full one) See if the stewardess will fill it for you when you get one that way you have hot water available for formula whenever you need it.

You may want to bring a snuggly (one of those things you can wear and put the child in at the front of your body. As the Child is under two years old he will be riding on your lap. You may feel more secure during sleep time to have him in one of those.

Resist reading a book or watching the inflight movie and sleep when your son sleeps.

Lastly bring a pacifier. This can help if on descent your child's ears start giving him issues.

All I can think of for now.

      Clear Skies!

  25. QUESTION:
Where can I buy a(n) RC helicopter with a camera?
I'm looking for something of decent quality without emptying my entire wallet.
    Thx

    • ANSWER:
xheli.com has high quality RC Heli's at affordable prices. They even sell cameras for them. However, if you have never flown a RC Heli, it's not something you can pull out of the box and film a movie with. It takes a lot to set up, tune, and hours and hours of flight time. Just remember it's a piece of plastic that can fall from the sky. Plastic will break when falling out of the sky. And the bigger the Heli, the easier they are to fly. Don't get the junk mini ones and stay away from Kmart, Walmart and Radio Shack. Once you break them, they are broke. Get a hobby grade Heli where you can buy replacement parts WHEN you break it. xheli.com has always been good to me. Check them out. I've been messing with RC's for 15+ years and flying a heli has been the hardest to learn and most time consuming. More time preping , repairing and tuning than actual flight time. Just a heads up.

  26. QUESTION:
What do you think of the film Donnie Darko?
this film fascinates me. it would be nice to know what others think and also if any of you understand or have used this site - www.donniedarkofilm.com - please try it and lemme know if you can figure it out?
im amazed by donnie darko but the only scary thing is, in the same way donnie seems to be detached from the world and empty sometimes, i am too, which is why i relate so well to it because i often look at the sky and wonder is any of it even real?

    • ANSWER:
One of my favorite films precisely because it so eloquently taps into the feelings that you speak of. Plus, from a purely film making point of view, wonderful cinematography & sound.

Thanks for bringing the site to my attention, I am just beginning to explore it. It's an interesting gimmick.....and now i want to watch the movie again.

  27. QUESTION:
Favourite books that have been made into movies?
Looking for some books to read and I wanna explore those that have been adapted into films. A list would be nice but I want to know your favourite. More details on whether you think the film did the book justice would be nice.

    • ANSWER:
I'm too lazy to type so I'm gonna copy the plot summary from amazon if you don't mind 😀
I love all of these books and movie adaptations. I prefer Fight Club book ending. Night Watch movie kinda mixed plots from the first and second books so it was a little confusing but they are all great.

      1. Chuck Palahniuk - Fight Club
      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0137523/
"THE FIRST RULE about fight club is you don't talk about fight club.
Every weekend, in the basements and parking lots of bars across the country, young men with whitecollar jobs and failed lives take off their shoes and shirts and fight each other barehanded just as long as they have to. Then they go back to those jobs with blackened eyes and loosened teeth and the sense that they can handle anything. Fight club is the invention of Tyler Durden, projectionist, waiter, and dark, anarchic genius, and it's only the beginning of his plans for violent revenge on an empty consumer-culture world."

      2. Cormac McCarthy - The Road
      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0898367/
"A searing, postapocalyptic novel destined to become Cormac McCarthy’s masterpiece.
A father and his son walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. It is cold enough to crack stones, and when the snow falls it is gray. The sky is dark. Their destination is the coast, although they don’t know what, if anything, awaits them there. They have nothing; just a pistol to defend themselves against the lawless bands that stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food—and each other.
The Road is the profoundly moving story of a journey. It boldly imagines a future in which no hope remains, but in which the father and his son, “each the other’s world entire,” are sustained by love. Awesome in the totality of its vision, it is an unflinching meditation on the worst and the best that we are capable of: ultimate destructiveness, desperate tenacity, and the tenderness that keeps two people alive in the face of total devastation."

      3. Ellis Bret Easton - American Psycho
      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0144084/
"Patrick Bateman is Harvard-educated and intelligent. He works by day on Wall Street, earning a fortune to complement the one he was born with. His nights he spends in ways we cannot begin to fathom - doing impermissible things to women. He is living his own "American Dream". "

      4. Ian Mcewan - Atonement
      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0783233/
"On the hottest day of the summer of 1935, thirteen-year-old Briony Tallis sees her older sister Cecilia strip off her clothes and plunge into the fountain in the garden of their country house. Watching Cecilia is their housekeeper’s son Robbie Turner, a childhood friend who, along with Briony’s sister, has recently graduated from Cambridge.
By the end of that day the lives of all three will have been changed forever. Robbie and Cecilia will have crossed a boundary they had never before dared to approach and will have become victims of the younger girl’s scheming imagination. And Briony will have committed a dreadful crime, the guilt for which will color her entire life."

      5. Neil Gaiman - Coraline
      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0327597/
"In Coraline's family's new flat there's a locked door. On the other side is a brick wall—until Coraline unlocks the door . . . and finds a passage to another flat in another house just like her own.
      Only different.
The food is better there. Books have pictures that writhe and crawl and shimmer. And there's another mother and father there who want Coraline to be their little girl. They want to change her and keep her with them. . . . Forever. "

      6. Sergei Lukyanenko - Night Watch
      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0403358/
"Among normal humans live the "Others" possessing various supernatural powers. They are divided up into the forces of light and the forces of the dark, who signed a truce several centuries ago to end a devastating battle. Ever since, the forces of light govern the day while the night belongs to their dark opponents. In modern day Moscow the dark Others actually roam the night as vampires while a "Night Watch" of light forces, among them Anton, the movie's protagonist, try to control them and limit their outrage. "

      7. Stieg Larsson - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Millennium Trilogy 1)
      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1568346/
"Harriet Vanger, a scion of one of Sweden's wealthiest families disappeared over forty years ago. All these years later, her aged uncle continues to seek the truth. He hires Mikael Blomkvist, a crusading journalist recently trapped by a libel conviction, to investigate. He is aided by the pierced and tattooed punk prodigy Lisbeth Salander. Together they tap into a vein of unfathomable iniquity and astonishing corruption."

  30. QUESTION:
Is it just me or does every veteran remember the entire forst day the stepped outside the FOB?
It's been 14 years since I stepped out of the Armored HMMWV in Kosovo on my first day outside the FOB. I was in the Serbian state for 1 week at that point but never outside the FOB, not counting the trip from the airport in Pristina.

I will never forget the moment I stepped out of that secure vehicle into the exposed environment of a combat zone. Right away I felt more naked then ever before in my life, I felt like I was in the reticle of 10 snipers and that I was going to have a bullet sail theough my skull at any moment, I was sure of this for 15 minutes.

After the first day these feeling went away and I was able to do my job.

I'll never forget this though. I was just watchin the walking dead, one of the prisoners got sniped in the head, I knew it way before it happened. It's like I have an intuition for these things.

    • ANSWER:
      Good evening Mark,

I hope you had a great day. YES I DO. I remember looking out of the window of the Lockheed Electro Jet. What a big ocean. I could not believe all the water. I felt so small compared to the world. But I would return. After all, I was the soldier in the Hollywood movies.

We landed in the Philippines to refuel. I saw these huge B-52 bombers in the distance. The bombers took my mind back to my grammar school days. The teacher would yell, "Drop!" We would all get under our desk and cover our heads with our hands.

I often wondered why we were all down on that dirty floor? From what I had seen, this "drop and cover" would not have helped at all. I believed it was better to go quick from the first blast. I had seen the faces of Japanese people die weeks later from atomic bombs on television. I would hate to die later from eating, breathing, drinking or touching all the radioactive materials. I watched the giant bombers and realized, just from the size alone, I was right about the "drop and cover" drills. They would not have helped.

After almost 24 hours, my heart slowed with the plane's engines. The heat rushed into the plane as they opened the doors. There was also this smell. My heart almost stopped at the words, "Gentlemen! Welcome to Vietnam." We boarded buses covered with metal bars and bobbed wire.

The buses stopped at the large reception center. We formed four long lines. I forget how the question came up. The sergeant repeated the question for all to hear, "What are your odds of returning to the states after one year?" He continued with his answer. "Turn your head and look at the man on your right. Now turn and look at the man on your left. Gentlemen, one of the two men you just looked at will not return. You will be receiving your orders within three days. Are there any more questions?" No one said a word.

That night there was an eerie and awful quiet. The barrack was almost empty. I walked outside. All the men, new soldiers like myself, were standing near the high wire fence. They were all looking toward the southern sky. I heard nothing. As my eyes slowly adjusted to the dark, within seconds my whole body witnessed feelings of fear from orange glows mixed with flashes of white lights. I believe I was watching hell from afar. I remember that night just like today. No man spoke a word. The lights were miles away. Your ears were useless.

Your mind now questions reality. But what is reality? Reality is the truth about war when you are within its grip. All at once you realized that you would soon be going out into the middle of the flashing lights.

I lay in my bunk that night, until my mind finally put it together. My eyes traveled the room in search of sounds which they felt were there. I was shocked, but somehow I knew the Devil was here. This quiet was the Devil’s type of silent. And you knew he was very close.

After two days I was assigned to a small but elite Assault Helicopter Company (part 101st Airborne Division….The Screaming Eagles http://www.comanchero.org/ ) located deep in the Mekong Delta near the Cambodia border during Tet 68’. I was a special forces Intelligence NCO, MOS 18F. http://usmilitary.about.com/od/enlistedjobs/a/18f.htm

Mark that was over forty (40) years ago. I still have intuitions. I can be asleep and suddenly wake because I realize, have a feeling, a sense, or intuition that something is wrong or different. It may be someone walking their dog or parking car. I will be watching.

You and your family have a beautiful day. Peace, from Los Angeles.

  31. QUESTION:
When they make a movie, how do they get the streets of New York City to be empty?

    • ANSWER:
I read that in Vanilla Sky, they talked to the mayor, got permission and then blocked off the streets very early on a Sunday morning when traffic was the lightest. They wear allowed to do it for something like 2 hours.

  32. QUESTION:
What are some really romantic love lines for guys to use on girls?
I don't want pickup lines, I want really romantic lines that make you go aww..... and smile like "If a star fell from heaven every-time I thought about you, then tonight the sky would be empty." I want romantic not cheesy just to clarify. Thanks for checking this question out :)

    • ANSWER:
Don't use any love lines it is almost impossible to not look lame. I've never heard a love line that wasn't cheesy those only exist in movies where the woman's reactions are fake

  33. QUESTION:
How do you get through the lonely periods in your life?
I know that by writing this question I will be opening the door for smart ass remarks and flippant answers, but I am so lonely that I think I will go mad. My kids have left the nest, my last relationship was two years ago, and I have tried to meet men for possible relationships, but with no success. I am 49 years old, and I feel as if the world has forgotten me (and others like me). My skin and my soul are dying from a lack of affection. I am sure that there others out there like me. How do you get through the lonely times in your life?
Thank you to most of you, your answers have been heartfelt with one exception....and I knew I would get at least one smart-assed remark. Ah well, that's yahoo answers for ya!

    • ANSWER:
I understand exactly what your going through. I'm 32 and I haven't had a serious relationship for about 1.5 years and it is a lonely life. I have been yo-yo dating for a while and believe me, it's not fun. It's not fun because your constantly playing the dating game by trying to get to know someone over and over again only to get hurt over and over again, you try to figure out what they like and don't like and you never seem to feel close to them right away so you put your guard up until you feel comfortable around them. Right now, I feel empty and very disconnected to the men I meet because they always play so many games with my heart and feelings.

My suggestion to you is to get back into yourself becasue that is what I am doing and I feel good about it. When you are in a relationship you tend to loose a part of yourself because you are with someone else so you give up some of what you like to do to be with them. So lately, I've ben focusing on what I like to do and my hobbies. Just getting into me, myself and I. I love to travel so lately I've been getting groups of my girl friends together and we go and visit various cities and take singles cruises together. I also go to book stores, the movies and to festivals alone. Then sometimes, I go to the park alone with a good book and a blanket so I can relax and reflect on myself. Then, I hug myself a lot. I also look in the mirror and I tell myself I love you because if you love yourself and hug yourself your skin and soul will come back to life, just try it. Try doing things to improve your mind, spirit and body so when you meet that right person, you will be ready. I feel for you because I am going through it right now myself. But keep you chin up and look to sky and keep trying. He IS out there.

  34. QUESTION:
How to I tell him how I feel?
So, I've been crushing on this guy for quite a while now and he's still going through a break-up with his ex but its been 3-5 months now since I've been waiting for him. Apparently, he's gotten more close with his ex like best friends but some people say that's all they'll ever be. So, Valentines is coming up and I'm such a big wimp to tell him how I feel cause I might just get rejected and get hurt and I don't want that. Please help me!

    • ANSWER:
I miss you when you aren't with me.
I love how you love me.
      You are my endless melody.
How many stars did God steal from the sky when he made your eyes?
I'm lost. Will you keep me?
If you were my cheese, I'd want to be your macaroni.
If I could wish for one thing on this planet, I would wish for your lips to touch mine, without a question, without a sound.
      You are my endless love.
I get goosebumps down my spine, every time you warp your arms around me.
When I close my eye in the night, all I see is you around me.
I love smelling the scent of you that lingers on my clothes after we part.
You are the most wonderful guy I've ever met.
I love the way you make me feel.
      You make me feel complete.
Everyday with you is worth every star in the sky.

If I were blind, within my heart I could still see the beauty that is you.
You are the love of my life.
Every time I see you, you look more handsome.
You are the reason my sun rises every morning.
If it was not for you, my world would fall apart.
I wanted to say something, but I forgot when I saw you.
      I love you so much.
      I could hold you forever.
Love, it's time to rise and shine.
      Sunshine, its morning already.
The glow in your eyes is the secret ingredient of my happiness.
It's hard to find the sweetest thing to say, when I have the most sweetest person standing next to me.

Thank you for loving me and being who you are.
You are my genie in a bottle, because you make all my wishes come true.
I love the way you look at me.
I love to hold you in my arms.
You are the most delicious thing I have ever tasted.
If God gave me a chance to relive my life, I will rewind to the time I first met you, and freeze it forever.
I love looking in your eyes.
My world is empty without you.
I love the way you brighten up the room.
Your love is the clouds that cover my world.
      I believe in you.
I found you, and I've found my soul mate.

If you want me to shut my mouth during a fight, kiss me.
You're so addictive. Are you a drug or something?
What is the longest sentence known to man? "I do".
If your heart skipped a beat while reading this message, it's love.
Your smell …it's the only smell in the world that I like.
So what if loving you comes with pains and compromises? I'd take all of them just to be with you.
With your closeness taking my breath away, in silence, it's only my eyes that speak my heart.
If my life is a movie, you're the only hero in it.
You're my angel, but wait, hide those wings from the world because I don't want to show you to anyone.
I always thought love could never happen to me until you came along and proved me wrong.

I could hold you forever in my arms and never let go.
      You're my favorite accessory.
I look my best whenever you smile at me.
Hadn't it been you, I'd have never known what love is.
Growing old with you is one thing I'm looking forward to.
I feel I've accomplished everything in this world when I'm in your arms.
I don't need to ask anyone else to shopping because I have you!
You have the personality I always wanted in my man.
You're just like my dad. Caring, intelligent, and always helping me tackle mom. (This one's my favorite!)
I am everything I am because of your love.

  35. QUESTION:
What are some SUPER SUPER SUPER CREEPY SCARY Nursery Rhymes?
PLEASE AS MANY AS YOU CAN!!

    • ANSWER:
ring around the rosie- about the black plague

itsy bitsy spider- the song most know is actually the first verse, there are more that got left out the real song goes:
the itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout
out came the rain and washed the spider out
out came the sun and dried up all the rain
and the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again
the itsy bitsy spider crawled into mommas bed
crawled up to the baby and bit him on the head
momma lay there sleeping while baby lay there dead
and the itsy bitsy spider crawled out of mommas bed

it goes on to the spider killing the dog, then the mom, then the dad

one we used to say while skipping rope when i was little-
      lizzie boden had an ax
      gave her mother 40 whacks
when shed seen what shed done
      she gave her father 41
      1,2,3,4,...40

i used to have a scary nursery rhyme book when i was little, the book wasnt that old because im only 17 so i bet you could find it. one poem that i always remember is this one:
a man of words and not of deeds is like a garden full of weeds
and as the weeds begin to grow its like a garden full of snow
and as the snow begins to fall its like a bird upon the wall
and as the bird away does fly its like an eagle in the sky
and as the eagle begins to soar its like a lion at your door
and as your door begins to crack its like a stick across your back
and as your back begins to smart its like a pen knife through the heart
and as your heart begins to bleed your dead your dead your dead indeed
unfortunately my friend told me they used it in a One Tree Hill episode, so now my childhood poem has become the one tree hill poem.

another one from the book is this one:
There was a little girl, who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead,
And when she was good, she was very, very good,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

She stood on her head, on her little trundle bed,
      With nobody by for to hinder;
She screamed and she squalled, she yelled and she bawled,
And drummed her little heels against the winder.
Her mother heard the noise, and thought it was the boys
      Playing in the empty attic,
She rushed upstairs, and caught her unawares,
      And spanked her, most emphatic.

this is actually written by Henry Longfellow, who im related to

two more i remember, both of which also got stolen by a movie, are the contradiction poem and the invisible man poem.
      contradiction poem:
Ladies and jelly spoons, hobos and tramps,
      Cross-eyed mosquitoes and bow-legged ants,
I stand before you to sit behind you
To tell you something I know nothing about.
Next Thursday, which is Good Friday,
There’s a Mother’s Day meeting for fathers only.
Wear your best clothes if you haven’t any.
Please come if you can’t; if you can, stay at home.
Admission is free; pay at the door.
Pull up a chair and sit on the floor.
      It makes no difference where you sit;
The man in the gallery’s sure to spit.
The show is over, but before you go,
Let me tell you a story I don’t really know.
One fine day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight,
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other,
One was blind and the other couldn't, see
So they chose a dummy for a referee.
A blind man went to see fair play,
A dumb man went to shout "hooray!"
      A paralysed donkey passing by,
Kicked the blind man in the eye,
Knocked him through a nine inch wall,
Into a dry ditch and drowned them all,
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And came to arrest the two dead boys,
If you don't believe this story’s true,
Ask the blind man he saw it too.

      the invisible man-
      Yesterday, upon the stair,
      I met a man who wasn’t there
      He wasn’t there again today
      I wish, I wish he’d go away...
When I came home last night at three
The man was waiting there for me
But when I looked around the hall
I couldn’t see him there at all!
Go away, go away, don’t you come back any more!
Go away, go away, and please don’t slam the door
Last night I saw upon the stair
A little man who wasn’t there
      He wasn’t there again today
Oh, how I wish he’d go away

all of these always gave me the creeps

  37. QUESTION:
Who was the vampire that bit Dracula?
You have to get bitten by a vampire to turn into one, right? So who turned Dracula into a vampire? Vampires don't just fall out of the sky
@Cooly@ Vlad isn't short for Vladimir. Its an entirely seperate name.

    • ANSWER:
In the mythos of Bram Stoker it's more than a bite that changes you. It is an exchange of blood. Notice how he had to feed Mina his blood. Dracula is the first novel in which a blood exchange is needed to make a new vampire. It was never just the bite that did it or the crew of the Demeter would be out for revenge, don't you think?

Now as for the character's origin as a vampire. No one really knows how it came to pass. It's hinted that even he is not sure how he became a vampire.

In Fred Saberhagen's own Dracula novels he establishes his human death and rising as a vampire in the novel A Matter of Taste but even then he doesn't seem to know the exact method by which he became a vampire. It's a mystery.

In some movie versions (NOT THE BOOK) it's because he renounced God.

In some versions he "refused to die."

In others (and this is what's hinted at in Stoker's original novel) he honestly can't recall how it happened that he came to be a vampire.

Also NO WHERE in the novel does it EVER say he is the first vampire! Does no one actually read the real book anymore or do they assume comic books and movies are always right?!

And NO WHERE in the original novel does it ever say Satan himself made him a vampire. The first time that was done was in Marvel comic books and later the Gary Oldman Dracula MOVIE but not the original 1897 novel. Don't automatically assume the movies are accurate to the book in things like that.

In regard to the historical figure Vlad is NOT short for Vladimir.

Vladislaus Drakulya (Vlad the third of Wallachia) was a real person. He was not actually a count. He was a prince. He was born in 1431 and died in 1476 roughly around the age of forty five. Wallachia is a region of Romania directly under Transylvania (the region where he was born). Though he did not really become a vampire the implication in the fictional Dracula novel by Bram Stoker (published in 1897) is that the historical figure came back as a vampire.

The name Dracula comes from Dracul which is derived from the Latin Draco (meaning dragon). In modern Romanian Dracul means Devil but in the fifteenth century it meant dragon. Dracula's father was a member of the knightly order of the dragon and called himself Dracul (Dragon). The "A" at the end of Dracula means that he is "the son of the dragon." Almost seventy five years after he died he was posthumously named Vlad Tepes (meaning The Impaler) because his favorite method of executing his enemies was to impale them on long spikes. He was never actually called "The impaler" or Tepes within his lifetime. He signed his name as Wladislaus Dragwlya (Angloized to Vladislaus Dracula).

Though turning the historical figure into a vampire is only the work of Bram Stoker's imagination, when anthropologists opened his place of burial in 1931 (the very year the Bela Lugosi Dracula film was made and exactly five hundred years after Dracula's birth) they found it empty.

According to The History channel the local people around the castle had, in recent years, heard strange noises and seen strange lights up in the castle so they sent some priests up to bless the place. Strangely as they neared the castle a terrible storm held them back so they had to do the blessing from a distance. Manipulating the weather is supposed to be one of the fictional vampire's powers.

Also Count would have been the "modern" (late nineteenth century) equivalent of ruling a small Principality territory, it would be a county.

Though the historical figure is not a vampire the vampiric fiction that the historical figure became a vampire isn't all bad, in many versions the character is sympathetic or even heroic like the 1992 movie starring Gary Oldman or the anime Hellsing (Okay, so he's kind of crazy in that one), Love at first bite, or Fred Saberhagen's Dracula books or the film Dracula: The Dark Prince where he's both the historical figure and the vampire but he's not evil incarnate but actually a very noble (though violent and hot tempered) character.

    • ANSWER:
      Wartime Romance

I am in love with the book "Dreamland" by Sarah Dessen, Someone NEEDS to adapt the book to film already. but what i want to know is who do you think Should play Rogerson and Caitlin and the other secondary characters? People with are closest to the description Sarah Dessen writes in the book.

I personal think if Avan Jorgia Dreadlocked his hair he could play Rogerson but I dont know about Caitlin.

      Summary:
On the morning of her 16th birthday Caitlin O'Koren wakes up to find that her older sister, Cass, has runaway with her boyfriend. Having spent her whole life in the shadow of her beautiful and brilliant sister, Caitlin suddenly finds herself thrust from the familiar darkness of invisibility into the glaring light of public and parental scrutiny. She has no choice but to forge a new identity, metamorphose into someone other than Cass's perfectly average little sister. The question, of course, is how.

Enter Rogerson: the dreamy-eyed, dreadlocked, BMW driving, pot-smoking bad-boy who makes all the girls swoon and leaves Caitlin reeling from his indescribably sexy aloofness. Has Dessen created the stereotypical love interest? Absolutely. Has nearly every girl since the beginning of time had a crush on a guy like this at some point in her life? Pretty much. However, beyond the immediate and intense physical attraction there lies a more complicated reason for her piqued interest. In him she sees an opportunity to reinvent herself.

"I saw myself, then, setting out across uncharted territory, places Cass had never been or seen or even heard of. My world was suddenly wide and limitless, as vast as the sky and stars I'd been dazzled by earlier, and it all started there with the door he was holding open for me."

From that moment on, Caitlin and Rogerson are utterly inseparable. It's an exciting time, full of new friends, strange places, first experiences, and new love. (Dessen does an excellent job of capturing the incomparable feeling of first love, that time in your life when a day spent watching him fix his car seems like a really well spent day.) Rogerson's dangerous lifestyle is intoxicating, and Caitlin soon finds herself drinking in his wildness and "filling up the empty spaces all those second-place finishes had left behind."

The very second Rogerson's fist makes contact with Caitlin's jaw for the first time, her once perfect dream-world comes crashing down, giving way to a very real nightmare. The beatings continue, become more frequent and intensely violent, but Caitlin never tells a soul or reaches out for help. She has become addicted to the way Rogerson makes her feel like someone other than a "little-sister, pretty girl's sidekick, or second runner-up." How does she cope? With drugs to numb the pain and turtlenecks to hide the hurt. In the wake of Rogerson's wrath, invisibility is the one thing Caitlin desperately desires --- ironically, back when she was living in Cass's shadow, invisibility was the one thing she most feared.

Why is it so difficult for some girls to extricate themselves from abusive relationships? It's a question that has long plagued modern society, a question that Sarah Dessen, with the same characteristic sensitivity and insight that garnered her praise for KEEPING THE MOON (1999), takes up in DREAMLAND. Her theory? If your not sure of who your Self is, then how can you preserve and protect It? She makes it so simple it's complicated.

  41. QUESTION:
How do i stop worrying about things?!?
I have exams coming up tomorrow, I just lost one of my closest friends... all I do is worried and I'm always super paranoid for no reason, help me stop having these habits please?

Forget about getting rid of these problems or trying to stop them, and one day suddenly you realize just by watching, looking, a gap arises. The worries are no longer there, the traffic has stopped, the road is empty, nobody passing…. In that emptiness, suddenly you have a glimpse of your true nature without all these worries. That glimpse can become the beginning of a great break through.

  42. QUESTION:
What was the name of the movie that was filmed in Africa about a coke bottle that fell from the sky?
It's a bushman walking along a road I think that gets hit in the head with an empty coke bottle and he thinks it came from the heavens or from God or something like that. It was really funny. I saw it when I was in the Navy in the 80s'. It would have been made in the late 70's or early 80's.

    • ANSWER:
its called "the gods must be crazy"

  43. QUESTION:
Can you describe an LSD or Shroom trip please?
I've just been wanting to do either one really badly but i have doubts. I'm only skeptical because i feel like my chances of having a bad trip are too high but they might not be. I've been wrestling with happiness and depression back and forth the past few years and i'm not sure if i should do it. But i reeeeally want to escape from my mind.. you know?
anyway, i'd like to hear stories too :]

    • ANSWER:
I don't think you should resort to drugs if your dealing with depression but I'm not hear to judge.so lsd is like an amazing happy state where everythings amazing while rolling I seem to appreciate a lot of natural beauty like certain colors the night sky. I usally take purple macs. But I warn you if you drink too little or too much water it can be dangerouse, also itrust the person I buy from I know he buys a lot from the same person and nothings ever gone wrong so I buy from him.don't do anything that could give you a bad triplike scary movies and the next day I warn you can be very depressing because your brain releases all your "happy" chemicals while on the drug so the next day your running a bit empty and I throw up a lot the next day like I have the flu.

  45. QUESTION:
What is it like to really go to war?
Please only answer if you have been to war.

    • ANSWER:
      Good morning John Doe,

In 1967, I was going to (University of Southern California) USC, working nights as a (I.L.W.U.) Longshoreman, been married for four (4) years, and had my own business. I was earning over k/year. Today that would be equal to over 0k/year. I was a young man going places, living a good life, and on top of the world.

I received a letter from the President of the United States...."Greeting". I was to report on May 4th. I went from the top of my world to being drafted into the US Army.

I started basic training at Fort Lewis, Washington. I went to Fort Ord for AIT or radio communications school. I was shipped to Fort Gordon, Georgia for top secret crypto radio teletype school. Afterwards I had orders to report APO San Francisco for The Republic of South Vietnam on December 18, 1967, my wife's birthday.

My wife drove with me to San Francisco the night before. That night we ate at Fishermen’s Wharf. We walked the streets and rode trolleys all night. We watched the fog cover the city.

We had been married in San Francisco only four years earlier. I promised her the world that night. Tonight in the same spot, I could only give her memories of the past. I promised her we would celebrate her birthday when I got back. I kissed her goodbye and boarded the jet. What a feeling.

I had seen the faces of people die weeks later from atomic bombs on television. I often wondered why we were all down on that dirty floor? From what I had seen, this "drop and cover" would not have helped at all. I believed it was better to go quick from the first blast.

The next night, there was an eerie and awful quiet. The barrack was almost empty. I walked outside. There were men standing near the high wire fence.

After three days, I was assigned to an elite Assault Helicopter Company (part of the 101st Airborne Division….The Screaming Eagles http://www.comanchero.org/ ) deep in the Mekong Delta near the Cambodian border during Tet 68'. I made rank faster than any drafted soldier in the Vietnam War.

People also ask me who won the war. My answer will always be, "Ask the dead Soldier who wins."

Your question: What is war like? I started by writing that you would not understand. My answer has changed though the years. War is like a never ending earthquake. You do not live in California. War is like a never ending car accident in which people die. You are too young to drive. Then pray that you do not have to find an answer to your question.

I hope I have not been too heavy on you? Peace, from Los Angeles.

  46. QUESTION:
Who else here thinks that Serj Tankian Is the best vocalist ever?
Serj Tankian is the lead vocalist for System of a Down. Now is on his own solo project. Producing songs such as the Unthinking Majority, Empty Walls, and Sky Is Over. The Latest album from Serj Tankian is Elect The Dead.

    • ANSWER:
Serj's voice is an acquired taste, but he IS very versatile. He can sing operatically, do rock screams, and even the death metal "cookie monster" growls. Not my favorite singer, but I do respect the man immensely.

If you really want to check out a versatile singer who is a true artist, look into the work of Mike Patton. He became known back in the 80's & 90's with Faith No More, but he has gone on to produce a HUGE body of extremely varied work, from soft ballads, to jazz, to Japanese noisecore, to horror-movie music, etc.

I couldn't find out on their website or their automated phone service, so I'd like to know if smoking is allowed at the Blacktown drive-in movie theatre?

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
We all came out to Montreaux
      On the Lake Geneva shoreline
To make records with a mobile
      We didn't have much time
      Frank Zappa and the Mothers
Were at the best place around
But some stupid with a flare gun
Burned the place to the ground
Smoke on the water, fire in the sky

They burned down the gambling house
It died with an awful sound
Funky & Claude was running in and out
      Pulling kids out the ground
      When it all was over
We had to find another place

But with the Rolling truck Stones thing just outside
      Making our music there

We made a place to sweat
No matter what we get out of this
      I know we'll never forget
Smoke on the water, fire in the sky

  49. QUESTION:
What was the vietnam war like (vets only)?
What made is so terrifying? What did you do on a daily basis

    • ANSWER:
      Good morning Greg,

I hope you had a great weekend. I just finished my morning walk at Venice Beach.

      http://www.venicebeach.com/

What made Vietnam so terrifying? Well I am NOT going to tell you to watch a movie. The suffering is hard to believe unless you have seen it with your own eyes. The Hollywood movies cannot show you a soldier with his balls in his mouth after stepping on a land mine. Most were unconscious with partial limbs and bleeding while insects, mosquitoes, and flies sucked their blood and laid their eggs in their wounds faster than the you could clean it.

One morning in 1967 I received a letter from the President of the United States...."Greeting". I was drafted into the US Army.

After months of schools and training I was a top secret Crypto Communications Expert with orders to report APO San Francisco for assignment to The Republic of South Vietnam.

Now turn and look at the man on your left. Gentlemen, one of the two men you just looked at will not return. You will be receiving your orders within three days. Are there any more questions?" No one said a word.

That night, there was an eerie and awful quiet. The barrack was almost empty. I walked outside. There were men standing near the high wire fence. They were all looking toward the southern sky. I heard nothing. As my eyes slowly adjust to the dark, within seconds his whole body witnessed feelings of fear from orange glows mixed with flashes of white lights. I believed I was watching hell from afar. I will remember this night just like it was today for the rest of my life. No man spoke a word. The lights were miles away. Your ears were useless.

Your mind now questions reality. But what is reality? Reality is the truth about war when you are within its grip. All at once you realized that you would soon be going out into the middle of the flashing lights.

I was assigned to a small but elite Assault Helicopter Company (part of the 101st Airborne Division….The Screaming Eagles http://www.comanchero.org/ ) located deep in the Mekong Delta near the Cambodian border of South Vietnam during Tet 68'.

I was the company’s Intelligence NCO. I would gather and keep info and locations on enemy activates in the area. I would get this info by flying, interviewing enemy POWs, and other friendlies in the area. The info was placed on maps and used to carry in small Special Forces units to attack the enemy, support B-52 attacks along the Ho Chi Minh Trail, or find our own POWs. Many of the missions were marked secret.

At night my mind would turn to death or dying. These thoughts would enter your mind when you slept at night. You would wonder if God would let you see another day. Each and every morning for a moment, you would wonder if this would be your last day on earth. I personally had a deep fear of losing a limb and coming back half a man, this was my deepest fear.

Tet started January 30, 1968. Every outpost was under attack. We were surrounded by the enemy. Our 155 Howitzers continuously fired day and night. The ground would shake from the deafening blasts, especially when they fired in volleys.

At night flares would continuously light up the skies. Huey Gunships (choppers) would race toward any movement. This would go on all night.

There was a constant smell of smoke and gun powder within every breath. Sometimes you would notice your own body odor. Mortar rounds would drop in day and night. You hated to go to the latrine for fear of incoming, a quick (half) wipe and out.

The radios were full of blood chilling voices screaming/yelling for Huey Gunship support. Turn on your sound.

      http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=ce0_1190188250

For one (1) year I stayed full of mosquito bites. My stomach was always out of order from the powdered food. You always had the runs from taking malaria pills.

      http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?_adv_prop=image&fr=yfp-t-521&va=Vietnam+tet+1968

After returning to the States, I see and dream of images for years. Even after forty years each time I see or hear a helicopter. I now wonder if I will die from Agent Orange like so many others.
