Japanese Film Online Free

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
where can I watch Japanese exploitation films online?
sorry I asked this a few days ago and it expired before I checked it since I went on vacation. More specifically though those films from the 70's and 80's, I know a little Japanese so translation isn't a big problem (especially since we're not looking at very dialogue driven movies). Cheers.

    • ANSWER:
      Go to http://www.movie-download-free.com

  2. QUESTION:
Is Arabic the hardest language to learn,if not, what is?
I think that despite all the Hanzi/Kanji memorization in Chinese and Japanese,Arabic is harder in pronunciation and alphabet.I've seen on "toughest language lists" that Finnish is one of the most difficult.I haven't really looked into learning Finnish,Bengali,Hindi or Hebrew.I am interested in many languages and still haven't come close to choosing which one to" go after".What are your thoughts on this? I know that these "toughest" languages to learn questions are really popular in this section.
Just in case you were interested,I have narrowed my languages I want to learn down to six.I know it's alot, but there are countless languages out there. The six I am interested in are Japanese,Mandarin,Spanish,French,Russian and Arabic.

    • ANSWER:
Hello. I can see you have a great talent in learning language, then why not try to learn Chinese, since it is one of the hardest languages in the world? I recommend you to learn Chinese for several reasons:

At first, China has a rich history and many tourist attractions, so learn Chinese is full of fun.

What’s more, China is very popular all over the world. If you learn Chinese, you may have more opportunities to use it, even in your country.

Besides, China is playing a more and more important role in global economy, so it is necessary to know views and information of China.

If you are thinking about learning Chinese, I am happy to offer you some ways of learning Chinese:
Since you are a beginner, I suggest you take Chinese lessons. Both local classes and online lessons are Ok. It depends on your free time. Here are the ways of learning Chinese.

Firstly, keeping reading a short Chinese text and writing a new character every day.

Secondly, add native Chinese speakers who want to learn English on your Skype and do language exchange with them. This is an effective way to practice your oral Chinese. Also, you can learn very authentic expression of words and slang.

Thirdly, always visiting Chinese learning websites to know idioms, culture, custom and classic usage of Chinese. Do some exercises to strengthen what you’ve learned.

Fourth, watching TV series, shows and films will practice your listening. You can also learn some fashionable words and good expressions.

Besides, I would like to recommend you several videos of learning Chinese:
http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNDQ3MzEwODM2.html This video mainly deals with beginners.

http://resources.echineselearning.com/general/?ecl=ptEEEyahooV122101 This website contains animated stories of Chinese words, expressions and culture. You can down e-books and materials of learning Chinese from this website, too.

I hope it will help. You can also write to me at jennifer.zhu@echineselearning.com so that I send the materials of learning Chinese to you.

  4. QUESTION:
Can anyone suggest a online site where I can read free stories from Japan?
This is for a Assignment...a oral presentation == and Im thinking about comparing the genre horror with different cultures and countries. comparing the films is quite easy but I want to have a read of a horror story (preferably a short story) that was written by a Japanese person. So I can compare the stories and how theyre different. Are there any online sites u can suggest? Ive had a look but Im having trouble finding a site.

    • ANSWER:
Since 1923, authors have the rights to decide if they want to give the books away or not. Most authors don't want to give their books away for free. So if the book is posted on the author's or publisher's website, then it is legal. File sharing sites do not have legal copies of books.

Borders has a good selection of manga. Tokoyo Pop is a great publisher but they want to make money for their books.

  5. QUESTION:
What type of special effects make up do u use to make some one go from young to old?
Im looking at making my friend go from young to old for a little project where working on im just wondering what type of make up i can use to do so and what steps i would need to take to use it?

    • ANSWER:
      Hi

I work as a makeup effects artist in the UK and have a website with some free tutorials and articles for you to view/download here, plus a free online mini ecourse which you can have if you are interested in creating prosthetic makeup:
      http://www.learnprostheticmakeup.com/page9.htm

Understand that aging someone well with makeup (ie, so that it looks realistic and not like they are wearing makeup) is hard to do - it is really easy to do a bad job! A great age makeup is one of the benchmark tests of makeup skill. I have put together a series of images together for you to see how an old age prosthetic that I did some while ago is put together. Get it by clicking here:
      http://www.learnmakeupeffects.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/age_prosthetics1.pdf

It all depends on how much age you want to add, and the actual age of your subject. Making an eighteen year old look ninety is harder than making a fifty five year old look ninety, for example. Also, adding twenty years to a subject can be more easily achieved than adding forty, so maybe start with a 'lower age' age makeup to start with, and practice on different aged people.

Subtle age effects can be created with theatrical makeup using highlight and shadow to create the illusion of shape and form. You can also use a technique called 'stretch and stipple', which can create direct applied wrinkle effects. Check out this tutorial on The Effects Lab, a great makeup effects resource:
      http://www.theeffectslab.com/stipple-aging.htm

Whatever methods you use to create the effect, I strongly suggest you get reference images of real old people, don't look at age makeups to get your information as to what aging actually looks like. Reference is essential. There are obviously online sources, and some great books I use which I recommend are:

      THE ACCEPTABLE FACE
      By Nick Sinclair
      ISBN-13: 978-0948797194

WISDOM: 50 UNIQUE AND ORIGINAL PORTRAITS
      By Andrew Zuckerman
      ISBN-13: 978-0810983724

      1000 ON 42ND STREET
By Myra Kalman and Neil Selkirk
      ISBN: 978-1576870457

A lot of prosthetic work takes place in a workshop environment rather than the set, which is a completely different world. It is messy, smelly and often long hours-not at all glamorous. But if you like sculpting, painting and making monsters then it should be your natural habitat!

Many makeup artists will be expected to do some 'special effects' such as straightforward casualty makeup, illnesses and subtle aging. Specialist makeup effects departments step in when the skills needed are more extensive.

Some courses can be expensive ways to learn unless you are totally set on doing it as part of a career move. The best teaching will come from those who make their living from it, and naturally there should be an emphasis on film quality work.

If you can't find what you want near you, I suggest getting a good book, and spending the money on some kit and practice, which you clearly are already doing. This will also give you a good idea of what is involved, and give you a chance to familiarise yourself with the subject before investing a lot of time and money on a course of study. Good books include:

  6. QUESTION:
How many Death Note episodes and specials are there all together?
I have finally decided to watch death note and i am half way through the series but i was wondering how many actual episodes/specials/ovas and movies there are, also it would be great if you could tell me which ones were dubbed.

    • ANSWER:
Wikipedia is probably the best way to go got questions like this in the future, but to answer your question there are 37 episodes all dubbed as well OVA and a good website to watch them for free is at www.animeultima.com

There are 3 major films, the first is simply titled Death Note(2006) the second is Death Note: The Last Name(also came out in 2006) there was also a spinoff called L: Change the world that focuses on a very particular part of the story which I shall not spoil for you, you have to watch to find out! =), all three films are Japanese dubbed and English subbed and can be purchased in stores or online.

Finally there are two rewrites that condense the story into particular arcs or sagas, these are Death Note Rewrite: Visions of a god which was supposed to be told from the character Ryuk's point of view but actually was told from the same point of view but with updated dialogue and a few new scenes. And the second is Death Note Rewrite: L's Successor, I shall resist revealing and plot details about that also as it would spoil the story. These are both in Japanese and have only been aired by the way.

So there you have it, that encompasses all Death Note material that has ever been broadcast on tv

  7. QUESTION:
What are the best agencys for modelling in Auckland, New Zealand?
Im starting modelling, and i was wondering what was the best modelling agencys for a 13 year old in Auckland, New Zealand?

    • ANSWER:
Go to YELP or Craigslist and read reviews or post on their message boards there from your city, or search name of agency under Better Business Bureau.

In Vogue UK, now hires 13-14 year old models. But there's a documentary "Girl Model" too young, too thin on Vogue models, shown at SXSW and the Toronto International Film festival, highlights the search and scouting of young girls in the modeling industry. Teen models have no clue what they're getting themselves into. They're naive. They get free food, free alcohol, they are forced into prostitution, too many abuses, sexual, physical, emotional you just can't believe.

If you're a model, and are shipped to Japan, would you be able to understand Japanese, to sign the contract? One model in Japan, gained 2", was sent home. "the modeling business is corrupt.'
They also took a bunch of her photos, and she never got paid, nor did she ever saw them! She had to borrow money to support herself, pay rent, food, to survive!

I went to a Charm & Poise school, when I was in HS in hopes to land a modeling job someday . . . and that's something I carried with me all my life. Some agencies don't give you jobs!

The best way to deal with modeling agencies is by contacting your area that is local and have a good record through the Better Business Bureau, not online. I went to a poise & charm school, back in the 70's, and wasted my money because they didn't promise they'll give me a job, but I learned something from it. I learned how to be poise, presentable, and walk like a model, and that is not something you won't ever forget, to look like a model.

  9. QUESTION:
Where can you buy cute cheap writing paper?
Basically, I got a few new pen pals and I want some really cute writing paper and envelopes (A4) to write the letters on.
I live in Bournemouth so if anyone knows any shops here that would be fantastic! But online is just as good.
Ive tried Paperchase, Waterstones and Whsmiths with no luck:(
    Under 10£ would be great!
    Thank you so much ox

    • ANSWER:
After researching your question, realized the true difficulty you had encountered when seeking writing paper. Here in the United States, there are so many options for patterned or colored A4 paper and envelopes, along with stationery packets containing the smaller sized matching envelopes and writing paper.

Have you tried one of the bigger Asda stores which carry clothing and general merchandise? Their office supply section and card/paper section might have some packets of novelty paper. Problem with most stationery sized paper is the smaller than A4 size which your posted questions mentioned. An alternative to consider might be selecting a solid color A4 sized paper and a package of stickers for embellishment at top or bottom or each sheet.

There are origami papers which come in various sizes and are often only patterned on one side. The Roze website lists some 7.8 inch squares in small quantity packages.

      Another thought...
Have you considered using a computer and color printer to print a bright design on A4 paper and envelopes? There are free patterns available and software to support this effort, and might be worth investigating.

  11. QUESTION:
how should i start learning korean ?
all the awesome ppl are in south korea , so i plan on living there , so how should i start learning korean ? how hard is it ? how long does it take ?
i see boxes instead of korean letters , how do i fix this ?

    • ANSWER:
I'd suggest using some of the free online resources to start with:
      http://korean.sogang.ac.kr/ - basic beginner lessons
http://talktomeinkorean.com/ - good for vocabulary building
http://www.learnkoreanonline.net/ - good for useful grammatical patterns
http://www.mysoju.com - serialised Korean (and Japanese) TV shows and films

And then moving on to other books/magazines/CDs/podcasts/dictionaries/songs, etc

Korean is a lot more difficult than, say, Spanish which has lots of words in common with English. But it's doable. Remember, you don't 'learn' a language, you get used to it. 😉

  12. QUESTION:
Will the Kimi Ni Todoke Live action movie ever be available in the U.S?
I really want to see it, like really badly. Will it ever be available in the U.S? I can't really fly all the way to Japan to see it on the 25th, or anytime. And will it ever be subbed or dubbed (the live action movie)? I mean, I can speak some Japanese, but it would be better in english. Does anyone know if it will be available in the U.S? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
That would be a no. Really. Has any Live Action J-film been released State-side? Maybe like 3. Face it, they're not popular and they wouldn't make any money here so they don't bother releasing it.

You can wait for the movie to go to DVD/Bluray. People will then sub it and post it online so you can download it and watch it at home for free. If you're really lucky, crunchyroll might get it. Otherwise, you'll have to wait.

  14. QUESTION:
What's the easiest way to learn a language?
I was thinking either Japanese or Chinese.

    • ANSWER:
Hello! I am a Chinese teacher and I don’t speak Japanese, so I merely offer you my opinion about learning Chinese. If you are a beginner, following a professional Chinese teacher is the easiest way to learn Chinese. But if you are an advanced learner, I think you can teach and practice Chinese by yourself. For beginner, learning Chinese from a teacher will make you learn basic rules of grammar, tone and character formation steadily and fast. Of course, both local classes and online lessons are OK and it depends on your free time. There some easy ways suitable for both beginners and advanced learners.
Firstly, keeping reading a short Chinese text and writing a new character every day.
Secondly, add those who are Chinese native and want to learn English to your Skype. This is an effective way to practice your oral Chinese. Also, you can learn very authentic expression of words and slang.
Thirdly, always visiting Chinese learning websites to know idioms, culture, custom and classic usage of Chinese. Do some exercise to help you strengthen what you’ve learned.
Four, watching TV series, shows and films will practice your listening. You can also learn some fashionable words and good expressions.
I think if you continuously learning Chinese, you will master it one day. Though I don’t know the easiest way to learn Chinese, I do hope these methods can help you. What do you think? My E-mail is jennifer.zhu@echineselearning.com and I am happy to help you with every question related to Chinese learning.

  15. QUESTION:
how do you have to look ilke and how tall to be a model?
Im im turning 14 in a week, and am 5 foot 4 , have dark brown eyes, white skin, black wavy hair and a mole on my right cheek. And is not a humongus gross mole ( people say i look cute with my mole.(sorry didnt add picture). Am i too short or something? Tank you :)

    • ANSWER:
Modeling is not just the pretty face, or cute or the height. Back in the 90s, models looked like women and not 12 year old boys, and this is now 2013 . . . . fashion industry can be difficult for young women to deal with, today, this is 2013.

Everyone can be a model. Look @ Coco now, (Coco married Ice T), she was 5'2" and 100lbs. Brooke Burke Charvet is only 5'7". Mila Kunis is the newest face for Christian Dior she's 5'4"

Look like one, dress like one, walk like one. An example for a Nike model: 5'7-5'9" height, waist 29-30", bust 35"-36 1/2", hip 38"-39", B or C cup, trim, athletic, & lean. Ages must be between 18-28. Pay? .hr.
Check out America's Next Top Model, or SCOUTED so you can understand what goes on behind the modeling business. They own you top to bottom. Meaning, no if's, and's or but's. It's a very demanding career, and if you can handle stress and ready to give them 120% then you're IN. As any model candidate, would you be willing to give up your long beautiful hair, to look like Emma or Ashlee Simpson? Yes, that means, you'll be willing to give up ANYTHING to your image, to get to the top! Cindy Crawford's daughter, who was 10, asked by the Versace people for her to do advertisement in January, but she was not their priority, she actually had to wait for 4 hours for her photo shoot - like everyone else!

There were 10,000 hopeful models for Victoria's Secret in Dec. fashion show also. Out of those, 5 were chosen as finalists, and only one was chosen as the winner. Check it out. It's not just a pretty face. It takes a certain walk, attitude, confidence & can stand the stress. Some models were discovered walking home from a vacation at the airport, sitting in restaurants with their family, or walking in the malls. Natalie Portman was discovered by a modeling agent at a pizza parlor, but she'd rather be an actress. Height 5' 3"

    Why Why Love

    Tokyo Juliet
    Hello My Lady
    Mars.
    Your Beautiful
    Sorry for any bad spelling!

    • ANSWER:
You asked 2 questions. As for where you can find good Asian drama romance and TV shows:

      - http://dramafever.com - I'm not sure whether you can get dramafever.com in Australia, but that is an excellent website. A basic website is free and if you subscribe to one, the site will keep up with everything you have watched and let you go back to the exact spot in any episode where you last left off. You can also see other subscribers ratings of shows and you can sort shows by genre. The majority of the shows and dramas on this site are Korean. It has numerous other cool features, as well.

      - http://mysoju.com - great for finding dramas from different countries. It has some really good Japanese dramas and movies, which are a plus because Japanese dramas have less episodes than Korean ones

      - http://dramasub.com - comes out with eps quickly, and often the subbed eps show up in no time

      - http://viikii.net - can be tedious to deal with at times, but is a faithful supplier to other sites

      - http://todou.com - this site is great because a lot of times you can see an entire episode as 1 file here

      - http://youtube.com - lots and lost of movies and dramas are on the tube.

      - http://veoh.com - This is where I found Hana Yori Dango

      - http://wiki.d-addicts.com - great place to read a synopsis of a drama, review its official tv ratings, find out who the entire cast is and review actors' and actresses' backgrounds. You can also download unsubbed files, find out what dramas will be coming out in the future and when and in which countries. Several other sites pull their synopsis from this site.

      - http://asianmediawiki.com - I recently discovered this site and I love it. It has some of the features of wiki.d-addicts, but it also shows past, present and future Asian movies and has trailers. It also allows members to submit reviews on movies, dramas and actors.

Now for what to watch. If you want to see some dramas partially filmed in Australia the watch:

      - Creating Destiny (Korean) - The interesting thing about this one is that it shows some of the dating differences a couple run into b/c the guy is raised in Korea and the girl was raised mostly in Australia.
      - One Fine Day (Korean) - It has its moments, but I wouldn't rate it as a 5.
      - Sorry I Love You (Korean) - I tried to watch it but couldn't sit through it.

As for Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo Sakebu, Diamond Girl and Attention Please, I have not watched them but I went to wiki.d-addicts and searched on Australia.

As for absolute must-see dramas, here are my picks (I rated these as 5's on a scale of 1 to 5):

      Korean
      - Mischievous Kiss/ (called Playful Kiss on dramafever) this is funny and lighthearted. I don't rate it a 5, but I listed it because I make reference to it below.

      - Goong (Comedy, Romance) if you liked Playful Kiss then you will love Goong.

      - We Got Married Season 1 (Reality Show, Romance) this is the only thing on my list that I rated as 5+. I don't think I've ever laughed this much. I've seen bits of Season 2, but Season 1 was so good that I know I will absolutely watch it again

      - Painter of the Wind (Historical, Romance, Gender Bender) I have a thing for historical dramas and Moon Geun Young did a great job in her role

      - IRIS (Action, Romance) I didn't believe the hype and stayed away from this for a long time. When I finally gave in and watched it I was glad that I did

      - Chuno (Action, Romance, Historical) Every time I think of this drama I want to watch it again

      - Sungkyunkwan Scandal (Historical, Romance) The last ep comes out today. My Korean is great, but I watch this one without the subs as soon as its online so that I can find out what's going to happen next. Yes, it is THAT good!

Japanese (are typically 12 episodes or less)
      - Boku to Kanojo to Kanojo no Ikiru Michi (Melodrama) this is a heart warming story. No one dies, which is a plus for me,

      - Kaikyou o Wataru Violin (Melodrama) this one is a true story and only 2 or 3 eps.

      - Koizora (Melodrama, Romance) you can watch the movie or the drama of this. They are both equally good. The drama is just more info, of course, and the characters are different in each.

      - Shokojo Seira (A little of everything) A Little Princess is one of my favorite movies from when I was a kid and this version was an excellent rendition. Even my mom watched this and was glued to the screen

      - Last Friends (Romance, Melodrama) I saw that someone else recommended this on Y!A to someone so I checked it out. I am glad I did.

      - Majou no Jouken (Romance, Melodrama) Not quite rated as a 5, but it is definitely a must-see.

I have a few more 5's on my list, but this is a good start.

  17. QUESTION:
How Should I Learn Foreign Languages?
what software or other method should I use to learn a foreign language? I'm trying to learn a few languages, but Im not sure how to learn them. I've tried Rosetta Stone, but it doesn't seem to work for me. Maybe a Cd or something, I don't know. Here are the languages I'm trying to learn.
    1) Japanese
    2)Romanian
    3)Swedish
    4)German
    5)Spanish

Anyone Have any suggestions for me other than Rosetta Stone?

    • ANSWER:
Concentrate on ONE language at a time! Sign up for a class, watch subtitled films or television in your chosen language, make friends with native speakers, visit a country where it is spoken. There are free online courses available as a backup, but you really need live interaction to get any traction.

Google "free online Spanish lessons" (or substitute the name of any other language you decide on, but I recommend you start with Spanish because it is the easiest). Here is the first site that came up:

  21. QUESTION:
I am looking for either an online video or DVD of The Return of Godzilla, the 1984 film, unedited.?
Basically the movie before it was 'Americanized' in the original japanese with english subtitles. I am having trouble finding a copy thats in region 1. I do not have a region 3 DVD player and I'm not going to buy hong kong bootlegs on ebay. I have the Americanized version already. It's the only one I'm missing I would care to buy.

  22. QUESTION:
Where can i find an english version of the movie ponyo online?
where can i find a "dubbed" (meaning the characters in the movie speak english) version of ponyo? I looked on watch-movies.net and they only had one with subtitles. I would like it to be online free and you don't have to download it.
it makes me mad that you'd say the movies good because of frankie jonas
who cares if hes in it???
    miyazaki made another amazing film
so i'd deff give him some credit.
    not another dumb jonas

    • ANSWER:
      To be frank you can't.

Japanese animated films like this are hard to find on streaming sites in their original languages alone much less in english.

The english dubbed version just finished airing in theatres internationally (or may still be), so an english DVD has not yet been released for it. Therefore nobody has ripped a copy of it onto a streaming site as of yet. I don't believe a DVD release date is set yet either.

Your best option here is watching the subtitled version you found, or downloading it.

I hope that is of some consolation.

  23. QUESTION:
Can you learn japanese(I don't mean formal) better through anime shows with or without English subtitles?
    which do you suggest?

Also, If there are free online resources that you really recomend, please tell me.

    • ANSWER:
I suggest formal teaching for as much as you can handle or afford. Just jumping into it through television, especially anime, will be extremely difficult. Many phrases are reversed and certain subjects and objects are used completely differently. I speak french and german and will occasionally watch films in those languages, but always with subtitles. It'll greatly help you to understand exactly what was said, since reading lips and facial expressions can get a little difficult and misleading, especially with animated films. I suggest talking to someone who speaks both english and japanese and learning a few new words from them. The little bits and pieces you can glean from that anime will be multiplied greatly by anything you can learn from real life. Good luck, though. Of all the ways you can choose to learn a new language, you're definitely not going for the easiest one.

  24. QUESTION:

  26. QUESTION:
is korean a hard language to learn?
i speak english and tagalog (filipino), i've been currently learning dutch but i've gave up on that because i want to start learning a different language (which is korean) anyways, i was just wondering if it's hard because i really want to learn another language.

    • ANSWER:
Korean is a lot more difficult than Dutch, say, which has lots of words in common with English. But it's definitely doable.

If you want to get started already, I'd suggest the following are some of the free online resources:
      http://korean.sogang.ac.kr/ - basic beginner lessons
http://talktomeinkorean.com/ - good for vocabulary building
http://www.learnkoreanonline.net/ - good for useful grammatical patterns
http://www.mysoju.com - serialised Korean (and Japanese) TV shows and films
And then moving on to other books/magazines/CDs/podcasts/dictionaries/etc.

Remember, you don't 'learn' a language, you get used to it and get increasingly better at imitating a native speaker. 😉

  32. QUESTION:
what is the online game "second life"? what is it about, and what do you do?

    • ANSWER:
Second Life (SL) is whatever you want it to be. You need to have imagination to enjoy it to it's fullest. People who say it is boring probably don't have an active imagination.

In essence, you create an avatar and you become a part of a vast world. What you do in that world is entirely up to you. If you have played The Sims and enjoyed that, then you will have a tiny inkling of what SL is like. In the Sims/Sims 2, you create entire families and play each family member in turn. In SL, you have just one person to play, but you get to interact with thousands of other avatars. How your avatar looks is entirely up to you. You can make her look like yourself, or you can make her look totally different from yourself. You can go with the basic skin, hair and clothes, or you can buy better ones and make your avatar look very real. Your avatar can do anything a real person can do, but it never needs to eat, sleep or use the toilet. You can simulate all of these things if you wish, but you don't have to do them.

Wheras The Sims is limited by the interactions that come with the games, SL is totally unlimited. You can do anything and everything. You can even fly or live underwater. And you are not restricted to being a human either. You can be an elf, a vampire, and alien, a demon, an angel, an animal, a dragon, a robot, a cartoon character ... even a slug or a ball of energy if you desire. And you're never confined to being one thing - you can change as often as you like.

The raw mechanics of SL are created by a company called Linden Labs, but everything in the world is created by it's residents - you and me. Want to go out dancing with other SL friends? There are literally thousands of clubs and music venues, including live musicians at one end of the scale, to strippers and escorts at the other extreme. Want to study? There are many real life colleges represented in SL and many professors give tutorials on their specialised fields in SL. Want to weild a lighsabre and fight a Star Wars battle? You can do that. You can even buy a full-sized (in SL scale) Millenium Falcon and fly it around the world and go to areas that faithfully recreate locations from the films and books. Want to be a samurai? You can do that too, and even join a clan and fight pitched battles. Want to be a vampire and live in a Gothinc castle? Yes, you can do that, but you will need to buy land and build the castle, and land prices and tier are not cheap, but many people do it. Want to be a slave or take part in a wild orgy? Yep, you can do that too!

The fact is, it would be easier to list what you CAN'T do in SL. Off the top of my head, I can't think of a single thing you can't do, apart from have sex with someone without their consent. It's all about where your imagination leads you. Some people do no more than hang out with friends and go shopping for clothes. While the battle areas in SL may not have the flexibility of WoW, LOTRO or FFonline, the abilty to include romance and loving relationships down to the most intimate detail adds a dimension other games can't even hope to match. And because the things in the world are only restricted by the imagination of the people there, the world is beautifully detailed. Some of the Japanese towns and cities look so real it's unbelievable.

When you add to this the fact that SL is free, both to download and play, you can't complain really. Premium membership is always optional, as is spending money in world. You can purchase SL money without having to pay a membership fee, and there are ways to make in-world money, such as 'camping', but the latter is very time consuming and it would take you three or four days of just sitting in a chair doing nothing else to earn enough to buy a pair of shoes. But if you learn to create things, you can sell them and make SL pay for itself.

But don't take my word for it - or the word of people who say it's rubbish. Check it out for yourself. It doesn't cost anything to look.

could someone tell me the game of the movie Final Fantasy VII:advent children?
Oh and please tell me witch console it is on.....and something else does the game Final Fantasy:VII Crisis core have something to do with the movie because if u completed the game u will find that Cloud is a SOLDIER 1st class so please tell me what happened between Crisis Core and the movie

    • ANSWER:
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is part of a series called "The Compilation of Final Fantasy VII" This series was started in response to the large fan following of the Playstation 1 game Final Fantasy VII, released in 1997. Some of the developers at Square-Enix were playing around with their graphics software and they developed a video of Cloud Strife driving his motorcycle around on top of skyscrapers. They decided to actually turn the project into a 20 minute short film about Cloud and a remnant of Sephiroth (Kadaj). This short film was going to be released as a bonus feature with a re-release of Final Fantasy VII on Playstation 2. However, the project kept growing and it turned into the full length feature Advent Children which includes all of the major characters from the original game. Around the hype for this film project, they decided it would be worthwhile to create a cross-platform "Compilation" of Final Fantasy VII projects. I will list what is in the compilation in the storyline's chronological order.

      1. Before Crisis - a cell phone game featuring the Turks
      2. Crisis Core - a PSP game with Zack as the main character
      3. Last Order - an anime about the Nibelhiem incident (included in the special edition of Advent Children)
      4. Final Fantasy VII - the original PS1 game
      5. On The Way to a Smile - Novel included with the special edition of Advent Children featuring Denzel, Tifa, and Barrett's stories
      6. The Maiden Who Traveled the Planet - Novel about Aerith, fan translations are up online
      7. Advent Children - CG movie
      8. Dirge of Cerberus - A PS2 game with Vincent Valentine as the main character

Additionally, there was a trailer of the beginning of the original Final Fantasy VII remade in Playstation 3 graphics (FFVII PS3 tech demo). You can also find characters from FFVII in the fighting games Ehrgeiz (PS1) and Dissidia (PSP) as well as reading more information in Ultimania books (that are in Japanese... although the adventchildren.net forums have some translations up.)

All of the events of the 30+ hour long game Final Fantasy VII happened between Crisis Core and Advent Children, but to sum up Cloud's portion in a SPOILERIFIC fashion, Cloud left home at the age of 14 to become a SOLDIER 1st Class and impress Tifa. Shinra only employed him as one of their regular grunt troops, but he still had ambitions of being in SOLDIER and he traveled with Zack, and later Sephiroth, both SOLDIER 1st Class. On a fateful mission, they were assigned to Nibelheim, Cloud's hometown. Embarrassed that he hadn't made it into SOLDIER, he kept his helmet on so no one would recognize him. He only visited his mother in private one night. Meanwhile, Sephiroth found horrible monsters growing in the Mako reactor they had gone to investigate. SOLDIERS are exposed to Mako (liquefied spirit energy from the planet's lifestream which the Shinra corporation uses for energy) as part of the entry process, and knowing this, Sephiroth began to research the notes in the laboratory basement of the Shinra Mansion in Nibelheim. He found disturbing evidence that he was the product of an experiment done by the scientist Hojo to create a super-soldier but he misunderstood what he read and thought that he was a member of the ancient Cetra race and the his mother was a Cetra named Jenova. Jenova (in reality an alien organism banished by the Cetra) was sealed away in the Mako reactor and Sephiroth, now quite insane, went off to free her and vowed to make the lowly humans pay for taking advantage of him and his mother. He set the entire town on fire and killed anyone who he encountered. Zack, Cloud, and Tifa all head for the Mako reactor to stop Sephiroth, and during a one on one encounter, Cloud threw Sephiroth into the Mako (which eventually led to the Lifestream itself) which made everyone presume he was dead (it would kill a normal person). Badly wounded, Zack and Cloud lay unconscious as Shinra's Turks began to cover-up the incident. They did not want the world to know that their best SOLDIER had destroyed an entire town and murdered its people. Cloud and Zack were kept in Mako tubes by Hojo while he tried to turn them into super-soldiers like Sephiroth for almost five years. One day Zack escaped and he took Cloud with him, dressing Cloud in an old SOLDIER uniform that was nearby. Cloud had Mako-poisoning and was totally out of it during this, Zack had to carry him on his back. When they were almost to Midgar, some Shinra troops caught up with Zack and they fought. Zack lost the battle and was shot in the head numerous times and killed. Cloud lay moaning nearby and the troops left Cloud alone to die. Cloud eventually recovered enough to get up and he found himself in a SOLDIER uniform with a giant sword. His mind was all messed up and he mistakenly thought that everything Zack had done had been what he had done. Cloud made it to Midgar and Tifa found him pretty messed up sitting at the train station. She took him home to her bar and helped him, and this is how he became involved with Barrett and AVALANCHE and eventually on a journey to stop Shinra from killing the planet and kill Sephiroth to "settle the score." Tifa knew something in Cloud's stories were wrong since she had been there in Nibelheim and seen Zack - not Cloud (Tifa escaped Nibelheim because her martial arts master carried her off). Cloud eventually falls into the Lifestream and gets Mako poisioning again and he manages to remember what really happened with Tifa's help. This is why in Advent Children, Rufus says (perhaps mockingly), "But Cloud, you were in SOLDIER." and Cloud responds, "...in my head."

Sorry if that's too detailed, it turned out much longer than I imagined!!! >_< I just know a lot about Final Fantasy VII.

"Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain"

  40. QUESTION:
    Is Rossetta Stone worth it?
I don't really want to learn Japanese grammar, because I am planning to take college classes for that. Also because it is too hard to find proper Japanese grammar with software and online. What I really want to know is if it will make me understand anime or Japanese films better.

    • ANSWER:
The problem with Japanese Rosetta Stone is some words are not always in Japanese characters, but in Romaji. And it is not as thorough as some would make you believe. There are many other methods to learn, don't be brain-washed by ads. Also, the complete course is as expensive than Rosetta Stone. I would advise you Linguaphone which is an excellent and cheaper . You can also learn with these books:

      ―Teach yourself beginner's Japanese script.
      ―Shin Nihongo no Kiso I & II
―Shin Nihongo no Kiso Japanese Kanji Workbook
―A Course in Modern Japanese by The University of Nagoya Press

  46. QUESTION:
Is anime dying, will They stop making it?
I've notice that a lot of anime is not shown on t.v. A lot of it is downloaded or watch online free of charge. What does that mean for the anime industry. How will they make money? Will they go bankrupt or what. I heard people talking about, what will be the future of anime?

    • ANSWER:
This means almost nothing for the anime industry, since it is located in Japan (where almost all of it IS aired on TV) and gets the massive majority of its revenue from its own country through merchandise and DVD/BD sales. Right now, more anime is being made each year that ever before, more than 100 new ones every year (that's not even counting movies and OVAs), and anime films regularly top the box office there. I'm sure the money they get from western distributors to license their anime is a nice little bonus, but the whole industry doesn't hinge on that money, not even close. Even if that vanished altogether (which hasn't even come close to happening, as countless anime are still licensed every year), they would continue to make it in Japan and sell it to the Japanese just like they did when the western anime industry hardly existed only a few decades ago. Very little would actually change in the long run, especially since the majority of anime has NEVER made it out of Japan, even during the brief "anime boom" that the anime industry in America experienced in the early-mid 2000s. Most of it is aired and sold there and never licensed for distribution in the west. In fact, now that legal streaming if offered, they're actually making more money from that type of series than they would have before. Anime that would have never been licensed anyway is now making at least a bit of money that way.

The things you are talking about mostly affects western anime distributors, which have nothing to do with anime production. They only buy the rights to sell it in their own country. Whether anime airs on TV in the US or elsewhere is irrelevant to the anime industry in Japan. Think about it, if OUR cartoons suddenly stopped airing on TV in Japan (and a lot of them do), would that affect our animation industry at all? No, it wouldn't change anything for us, it would only hurt the Japanese distributors of our cartoons. And yes, the western anime industry could be doing better. It went through a sudden, huge growth in the early-mid 2000s, and couldn't maintain that size for long. A lot of companies at the time, particularly ADV and to a lesser extent Geneon, made the mistake of becoming overzealous and paying huge money to license anything they could grab, even stuff that clearly wasn't going to sell very well. Needless to say, since neither of those companies really exist anymore, that didn't work out for them, since the American anime industry quickly started shrinking back to its previous smaller size. But it's still chugging along. It's smaller, but in no danger of disappearing in the near future. And again, even if it did, the Japanese anime industry wouldn't be going anywhere.

    • ANSWER:
MIT offers many of their courses online. This isn't an actual course - no one will be evaluating your work, and colleges/employers won't consider it a course - but you can watch lectures, follow along with the book (if you can find it online or buy it), do the homework and the exams and get solutions as well. If you're just interested for the sake of being interested, it's probably the best place to start.

  48. QUESTION:
why do people download movies and music if its illegal?

    • ANSWER:
Why, the main reason would be because its free... hmm but there are a lot of reasons... Some people entirely download, hell because its free and they don't think they are going to get caught (which is really unlikely and maybe imposible), other people because they like it (in p2ps websites there are hundreds of people who stay online just to provide someone the convenience of downloading something), others because hell who has the money to buy so much entertainment? others because they think basically is like sharing (your friends got a movie you borrow it from him and so on and so forth) other as I like to think:

I love movies (classic, foreign, old, new...) I like to watch a lot of films. Sometimes if you want to watch lets say Irezumi a 1966 japanese film you would have to format your dvd to watch it when you buy it because of the region code. The movie has not and I doubt it would have a US release so you don't have a way to watch it. I could watch The Third Man movie on Hulu, Netflix or rent it on amazon but my internet is to slow most of the time. The libraries where I live don't have a good, not even a descent amount of movies, rentals in my country don't have a good collection and so on. If I would pay for every movie I would like to see I would be broke. So my alternatives are watch a movie from a friends Criterion Collection and DVD collection and borrow downloaded movies from a friend (also buy some of them). Do I know is illegal yes, but I prefer to watch the movie than not... This may be a simple reason but the only choice I have would be to are to not watch it or watch it. If it weren't for piracy I would have never heard Miles Davis Bitches Brew, which is an album i would love to buy one day. I like the Thong Song by Sisqo and I would like to have it in my iTunes library, would I pay for it HEll NO. The thing is I like to think of it as a book I borrowed and returned (since I would never get to see most of this movies on TV). I don't stay with the movie I delete it after I watch it.

Do I know maybe I am making some harm to the industry yes. Sometimes things like this make me feel differently about that: a site called Megaupload was turn down this year because of piracy. But last year (since the company knew what was coming) they released a promotional song featuring some of the artist who have their content being pirate on the site (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0Wvn-9BXVc). Hell most people don't know how to download music, movies etc... Some of them borrow it from someone who knows (like me) but most don't know and still buy most of them. Is not that I don't buy them, but I wouldn't buy every movie, what if I don't like them. Hell a friend of mine gave me Master and Commander and I ended up buying it in Blu-Ray.

Another thing piracy would be like, when a friend bought a CD and you burned it on your computer to have it.

(Soory I didn't want to write that much but I got carried away)
Still yes its illegal but oh well...

  49. QUESTION:
do you think i will become a model at 16?
i'm 14 years old and i really want to become a model but i think i'm really young to be a model at this age and i'm too short because i'm only 159 tall so i was thinking of exercising everyday and i saw youtube videos on how to grow taller so i will copy every move they do everyday and run every sunday and eat healthy! also i will take care of my skin and keep it clear and stuff.. btw people say i'm really skinny and they also say i have the perfect size i don't know what my weight is but i think its 40 or something, but anyways i will try my best to become taller and skinnier till i turn 16.. do you think i could become a model?? ps. a lot of people called me pretty, perfect, etc and they also mentioned that i should be a model.. i have dark eyes, hair,my skin tone is tan/bronze, and nearly have the same eyebrows as cara delevingne, etc..

    • ANSWER:
You've got 10,000 to one chance.

The best way to deal with modeling agencies is by contacting your area that is local, like YELP and look for reviews and have a good record through the Better Business Bureau, not online. I went to a poise & charm school, back in the 70's, and wasted my money because they didn't promise they'll give me a job, but I learned something from it. I learned how to be poise, presentable, and walk like a model, and that is not something you won't ever forget, to look like a model.

They get free food, free alcohol, they are forced into prostitution, too many abuses, sexual, physical, emotional you just can't believe.
      http://theminaretonline.com/2012/04/06/article21987

      Watch "Girl Model" https://ovee.itvs.org/screenings/yqg8b
If you're a model, and are shipped to Japan, would you be able to understand Japanese, to sign the contract? One model in Japan, gained 2", was sent home. "the modeling business is corrupt.'
They also took a bunch of her photos, and she never got paid, nor did she ever saw them! She had to borrow money to support herself, pay rent, food, to survive!

I thought I was a model material, until they used me for extra in a movie and modeled once for hair, and realized I don't want anyone fuzzing with me top to bottom and are 'forced to wear and dress like a clown."

Modeling is not just the pretty face or the height.

  50. QUESTION:
Does anyone know if Rosetta Stone in Korean is any good?

    • ANSWER:
      I'm afraid not.

There's very little real, useful language in there nor any of the culture of the people who speak the language. So, in short, avoid Rosetta Stone. It's a triumph of marketing over substance.

If you're interested in learning Korean (and it's an exciting time to be learning it!), these are some of the best free online resources:
      http://korean.sogang.ac.kr/ - basic beginner lessons
http://talktomeinkorean.com/ - good for vocabulary building
http://www.learnkoreanonline.net/ - good for useful grammatical patterns
http://www.mysoju.com - serialised Korean (and Japanese) TV shows and films
And then moving on to other books/magazines/CDs/podcasts/dictionaries/etc/etc.

Remember, you don't 'learn' a language... you get used to it and you get increasingly better at imitating a native speaker. 😉
