Japanese Films 2011

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
What is the future outlook for fantasy films?
From The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, which ended back in 2003. The Harry Potter series that's ending this summer 2011. The Chronicles of Narnia series practically over, or you can say it won't be same because the original cast won't be in the future films (only cameos). I'm aware of the The Hobbit in it's two-part series in production as we speak.
What famous fantasy book series do you believe will become the next big movie series? It looks bleak because the greatest ones have already been chosen and gone.

    • ANSWER:
Thumbed up Kitty there for that answer, Tolkien in the end of the day was just a man. The problem is people look at The Lord of the Rings as the 'benchmark' trilogy, the pioneer of high fantasy/epic fantasy. We're getting a lot of pretenders and copy cats emerging, primarily because the Lord of the Rings films brought to light the scope of the film/books.

Hollywood in the end will cash in on the 'market trend' they'll look for the next Lord of the Rings, but the finances to back that ultimately might not be there. And to be honest, I think there's too many pretenders who are copying Tolkien who are published at the moment to make the ground breaking new franchise or film, but these copiers could be their books made into films. However, look at Avatar, biggest grossing film of all time, surpasses Titanic, i'd watch James Cameron to be honest, because he's looking to the east (metaphorically) in the japanese markets of manga and anime. He's going to make Battle Angel Atila allegedly, those sort of films, the sci fi punk Japanese visual films could be 'the next big thing.' Because they aren't clearly or distinctly 'fantasy' its more speculative fiction and science fiction, and to be honest fantasy has been bleed to death, speculative fiction and more science fiction could be root to go down to or the future of fantasy films and books too.

  2. QUESTION:
What are some modern day monster movies?
I've recently watched films like Pighunt, Warbirds & Mega-shark Vs Crocosaurus and quite enjoyed them.

Does anyone know of similar movies to these? I'm looking for more modern day films but older ones are fine as well.

Don't tell me Godzilla or King Kong either because I've seen most of them.

    • ANSWER:
      Tremors 1990

      Cloverfield 2008

The Host (Gwoemul) (2006) - A japanese film, but I loved it, very Art-house.

Pitch Black (200) (Well known, you may have seen)

Slither (2006) (A controversial film - you either love it or you hate it, I thought it was ok viewing)

      Troll Hunter (2011)

Pans Labyrinth (2006) (You may have seen this, its quite a blockbuster)

'Dog Soldiers' and 'Ginger Snaps/Ginger Snaps2' are cult classics, and are similar - the werewolves/transformation 'monster' element here - but trust me - its nothing like twilight.

      Hellboy/Hellboy2 - Another blockbuster here

The Mist (2007) many like it, I found it watchable, but pretty predictable in some scenes (probably because I watch a lot of these kind of films!) - its very nice visually however - an ominous mist covering the land - worth a watch.

The Descent - Similar to The Mist in the ominous feeling you get as the characters descend into the dark cave, I really liked the blind monsters in this film.

[REC] (2007) - I watched this recently, its a spanish horror - it was just a good scare fest - nothing too clever - just a interesting new take on the genre - the 'monsters' are humans who have contracted a virus.

      District 9 - (Alien-y film)

      Splinter

Rogue (Rogue Crocodile) (2008) Crowd pleaser! - Massive croc is the 'monster' in this one.

I have to recommend some zombie films, as I do like zombies!

      28 Weeks Later
      Dawn of the Dead
      Zombieland (Humour)

You can find good reviews for these films, and plot synopsis on www.rottentomatoes.com
This is a site I use when I want to check if films are worth watching.
All the above I mentioned are decent films however.

I could list more but all these will keep you going for a while! :)

  3. QUESTION:
Is yugioh Bonds Beyond Time Movie coming out in theaters or on tv?
I know it comes out on Feb. 26, 2011 but I want to know if it is coming out in theaters or if it is on tv.
The Yugioh movie coming out in 2011.

    • ANSWER:
Below is what the site said, but my best guess would be in theater, you should try calling your local theater to see if they are showing it
"The film was released on January 23, 2010 in Japan, and is to be released in the United States with a limited run on February 26 and 27 and again on March 5 and 6.[5] However, there will be some theatres in the northeast that will show this film throughout the week February 21 to 25 due to the closing of schools for vacation. [6] The film is scheduled for a second release in Japanese theaters starting February 26, 2011.[7] "
      I hope I helped
      have a nice morning

  4. QUESTION:
Did you guys know that Death Note is being made into an American movie?
I heard it's coming out in like 2011. What are your opinions on this?

    • ANSWER:
Zac Efron hasn't been "rumored" to play Light in like....a year. Some person found a picture of Zac Efron with a white shirt and a red tie and thought it would be funny to compare him to Light. The idea obviously caught on.

As far as the movie goes, I will say the same thing for this question that I said last night when it was asked. Since this is the same person asking the question, I doubt they care to hear a repeat of my response, but here it is anyway:

As much as I love Death Note, I can't imagine that an American movie of it would be very good. First of all, there are already 2 Japanese movie versions, plus an L side story. How many do we really need?

Plus I don't think Death Note translates to film well. There's simply too much going on and the plot has to be drastically altered (as you know, if you have seen the Japanese live action film).

Also, something that doesn't quite matter as much but is still pretty important to me... the Death Note characters are (mostly) Japanese... I don't want Light to be American.

I'm not arguing that the film won't be entertaining, just that it won't be "Death Note".

  5. QUESTION:
What is the scariest movie you have ever seen?
All the so-called scary movies today are not creepy at all and just have a startle here or there. I want to find a movie that will just freak me the f out for a couple of days. Any suggestions?

    • ANSWER:
I think age has a lot to do with your ability to be scared. I remember being scared the most (even creeped out weeks later) with Stephen King's It (1990) and The Exorcist (1973), which I watched when I was 10. Nevertheless, some other, newer movies that I found scary are The Ring (2002), Freddy vs Jason (2003), and Insidious (2010). Other "creepy" movies were Cabin Fever (2002), Paranormal Activity (2007), House of Wax (2005), Apollo 18 (2011).

I haven't seen any Chinese/Japanese films but I hear they are scarier than the American remakes. Here are some from a list I found online (see website for pics and description; includes other foreign films): Ju-on (Japan, 2000), Rampo Noir (Japan, 2005), Ringu (Japan, 1998), Shutter (Thailand, 2004), Save the Green Planet! (South Korea, 2003), The Eye (Hong Kong, 2002), Dumplings (Hong Kon, 2004) Odishon/Audition (Japan 1999), A tale of Two Sisters (South Korea, 2003), Old Boy (South Korea, 2003).

I recommend trying some google seaches for other scary movie lists. (Tip: if you type "scariest movies of all time" old classics might come up, so if you want to avoid that make sure to add "of the 2000s" )

I don't know about you but I find real-life paranormal stories to be pretty interesting and creepy at the same time. There's something about the possibility of it being real. If you are into that, I would recommend Paranormal Witness on the SyFy channel. It's documentary-style with clips of people telling their story and reenactments of events.

      Hope that helps! Good luck!

  6. QUESTION:
Did you guys know that Death Note will be made into an American movie?
I just found out today. It's supposed to be coming out in like 2011.

    What are your opinons?

    • ANSWER:

  7. QUESTION:
What are some current great Japanese films worth watching(2008-2011)?
Looking for current/contemporary Japanese films. Can anyone lend some great titles?

    • ANSWER:
      Nokan (Departures), 2008

      Brilliant film.

  8. QUESTION:
Is there gonna be a Death Note American live action movie?
I've been searching around the web to then find out that some are planning to make a Death Note Amercian live action movie. As in they would remake the Japanese live action and replace the actors with Northern American ones. Heard Zac Efron might be playing Light.....

PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME THIS ISN'T TRUE!!!!!

or at least gimme a legit answer,
    thanks~

    • ANSWER:
Warner Bros. acquired the rights to make Death Note movie back in 2009. Charley and Vlas Parlapanides were hired for screenplay adaption. On January 13, 2011, it was announced that Shane Black has been hired to direct the film, with the script being written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry.

So it's not TOTALLY DEFINITE that it will really happen, but Warner Bros. has the rights and is working on it. But it seems they are still in the beginning stages of adapting the story into something suitable for a movie. They aren't yet doing casting calls or filming or anything like that yet.

The thing about Zac Efron was mostly rumor. Efron did state once that he is an anime and manga fan and said he "[loves] Death Note" and had a meeting about his possible involvement with a film for it, but that was back in 2009. So yes he is interested (what fan wouldn't be!) but it is not a definite that he would play the role of Light. It's mostly because of those little comments, everyone talked about it like he already had the part.

@Orum: yeah I have trouble imagining it too. Probably cause Efron's biggest movie roles were in happier, family or feel-good types of movies. Whereas Light is an incredibly messed up dude in a dark and psychological story. So it just seems out of place based on his previous roles.

  11. QUESTION:
How does the solar nebula theory help you understand the location of asteroids?

    • ANSWER:
Most of the matter present in the original solar nebula is gone now. It was drawn into the Sun, expelled into interstellar space, or incorporated into planets whose internal activity has reprocessed it into some new form. However, some of the primordial nebular material has survived and thus provides a crucial key to learning the details of how our solar system formed. The most abundant reservoir of unchanged nebular matter is in the form of comets. Because they remained small and far from the Sun, effectively in deep freeze for eons, these icy planetesimals retain most or all of the properties they had when they accreted in the outer nebular disk.

There are millions of asteroids, many thought to be the shattered remnants of planetesimals, bodies within the young Sun’s solar nebula that never grew large enough to become planets. A large majority of known asteroids orbit in the main belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter or co-orbital with Jupiter (the Jupiter Trojans). However, other orbital families exist with significant populations, including the near-Earth asteroids. Individual asteroids are classified by their characteristic spectra, with the majority falling into three main groups: C-type, S-type, and M-type. These were named after and are generally identified with carbon-rich, stony, and metallic compositions, respectively.

The solar nebular model explains have demonstrated that the merger of embryos in the inner part of the protoplanetary disk leads to the formation of a few Earth sized bodies thus the origin of terrestrial planets but it does not explain anything about location of asteroids in the solar system.

Until 1998, asteroids were discovered by a four-step process. First, a region of the sky was photographed by a wide-field telescope, or Astrograph. Pairs of photographs were taken, typically one hour apart. Multiple pairs could be taken over a series of days. Second, the two films of the same region were viewed under a stereoscope. Any body in orbit around the Sun would move slightly between the pair of films. Under the stereoscope, the image of the body would seem to float slightly above the background of stars. Third, once a moving body was identified, its location would be measured precisely using a digitizing microscope. The location would be measured relative to known star locations.
Since 1998, a large majority of the asteroids have been discovered by such automated systems. A list of teams using such automated systems includes:

      * The Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) team
      * The Near-Earth Asteroid Tracking (NEAT) team
      * Spacewatch
      * The Lowell Observatory Near-Earth-Object Search (LONEOS) team
      * The Catalina Sky Survey (CSS)
      * The Campo Imperatore Near-Earth Objects Survey (CINEOS) team
      * The Japanese Spaceguard Association
      * The Asiago-DLR Asteroid Survey (ADAS)

The LINEAR system alone has discovered 121,346 asteroids, as of March, 2011. Among all the automated systems, 4711 near-Earth asteroids have been discovered including over 600 more than 1 km (0.6 mi) in diameter.
So these are some techniques used for locating asteroids.

    • ANSWER:
Hi. Lol are you a Sone? I suggest you start getting to know the other girls as well. It's not bad to be Fany biased but I hope you give attention to the other members too :))

Anyway, here's a *quick* list of their variety shows in 2011.

SBS Star King EP 201 - Tiffany Cut [02.05.11]
MBC Come To Play EP 320 - SNSD [01.03.11]

The girls were busy for their Japanese promotions until August, which means they've been performing most of the time. They have been to interviews and fanmeetings here and there, but you can't consider those as variety shows, right? xD

For the new shows in 2011, they've filmed Running Man (excluding 2Ny and Sooyoung), Strong Heart, Dalgona and Big Brothers. They're in the process of subbing though. I suggest you also join Soshified cos they give updates about the girls~

  20. QUESTION:
what are the details for the death note american remake?
who are the actors, and who do they play.
what have the changed the names to
is there an official trailer, and if so can you link to a video
is there a website, and if so can you link to it
and most importantly when is it coming out.

I have watched the whole series, and it was great, and I personally think that they are going to screw the movie up, but I still want to see it.

    • ANSWER:
There isn't a cast yet or any official news on the movie. All that has been announced is that Shane Black is set to direct. The movie is tentatively scheduled for a 2011 release. Casting should begin soon unless there are set backs.

I loved Death Note (the manga, anime and the live action films) and I really dont see the need for an American remake since Hollywood pretty much butchers anime movies, like with Dragon Ball Evolution. But I'm going to reserve judgement till I see the movie. Think positive. I just hope they don't cast Zac Efron as Light as the rumors say. My choice would be Douglas Booth. L is harder to cast since according to Ohba he is 1/4 Japanese, 1/4 English, 1/4 Russian and 1/4 French or Italian (at least thats what I remember anyways).

  21. QUESTION:
for a die hard kh fan whats the best final fantasy game?
i LOVE kingdom hearts but i have played these two many times, and i need a new one(i have heard rumors that the third will hit the US in late 2011, AND I CANT WAIT THAT LONG) so for people who have played final fantasy, which one is the best for me?

    • ANSWER:
Final Fantasy 7 for sure. Join the enigmatic mercenary Cloud Strife in a journey that will take him to the very source of his being in an incredible quest where the fate of the world hangs by a precious thread, threatening at any instant to be torn by the charismatic, tormented villain of the story. Final Fantasy VII's moving plot is influenced by some of the greatest works of science fiction film and literature, including Frank Herbert's Dune, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, and even Godzilla. If you were to strip away the story, scenery, and musical score, Final Fantasy VII would otherwise be very much like any other Japanese RPG you've ever played. You still must face countless random monster encounters while keeping a close eye on your hit points and magic points, and you will witness your characters grow stronger with every experience level they attain. Battles are fought in typical Japanese RPG fashion (albeit with fully polygonal graphics), with your team on one side and any number of opponents on the other. You exchange blows until you or the enemy is defeated. Fights are made interesting with the introduction of Limit Breaks (devastating desperation attacks) and Materia, the curious colored crystals that let your party use magic and other special abilities. Materia can be found or purchased and mixed and matched to create all sorts of interesting effects. Best of all, there are more than enough hidden Materia, weapons, and optional plot sequences in the game to merit playing it through at least twice.

Some have gone as far as to call Final Fantasy VII the hands-down best game ever made. And I damn well agree with them.

  22. QUESTION:
Anyone know where I can buy an electric car?
Gas at Chevron is .10. I'm tired of it.

    • ANSWER:
Unfortunately the only highway capable electric car currently in production is the Tesla Roadster. Another unfortunate thing is all 600 of 2008 units have been sold and many of the 2009 are gone too. Unfortunate number 3 is the price tag is 0,000 and going up due to foreign currency exchange rates.

The next group of electric cars are the Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEV) some times called Low speed Electric Vehicles (LEV). They have an upper speed limit of 25 or 35 MPH depending which state they're in. They are available NOW in almost all states. Google names like ZENN, Dynasty IT, Miles Electric, GEM, ZAP. They are available now but have limitations being designed for putting around within 20 miles of home.

There are a couple of highway vehicles coming before 2010. Both ZENN and Miles plan to have regular sedans ready by 2009. Another is Phoenix Motors with their SUT and SUV. Tesla has already started work on their affordable sedan, code name white star, and hopes to have it on the road before 2010.

2010 is going to be a magic year. Chevrolet will have their Volt ready by November with the 2011 model year. It's not much of an EV, only goes 40 miles on electricity then the gas powered range extender kicks in to power the car. At least 3 Japanese companies, Subaru, Mitsubishi, and Nissan will begin importing full Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) that get at least 80 MPC and more likely 120 MPC.

All I can tell you is, that you'll have to wait. Because in 2003 GM and the other car makers decided to DESTROY all of the EV's they had made in the pursuit of greed. See the film "Who Killed the Electric Car" for all of the idiotic details.

  23. QUESTION:
Will the Nintendo 3DS be released in Australia early March next year?
Ok so my b'day is very early in March and I was going to get a Nintendo DSI in christmas but i thought maybe I should wait if 3DS is being released in Aus. March, but i heard it was late march is it worth the wait?? Is it really that much better??

    • ANSWER:
Yes, it will be out on March 2011 in Australia, North America, and Europe.
To me, it is worth the wait; but that's just me, since I still own the orginal DS Phat.
Here's more info on 3DS if you're having second thoughts:

"The Nintendo 3DS is based on a custom Pica200 graphics processor from a Japanese start-up Digital Media Professionals (DMP). It has two screens; the top screen is a 3.53 in (90 mm) 5:3 3D screen with a resolution of 800×240 pixels (400×240 pixels per eye, WQVGA) that is able to produce an autostereoscopic three-dimensional effect (one without 3D glasses), while the bottom screen is a 3.02 in (77 mm) 4:3 non-3D touch panel with a resolution of 320×240 pixels (QVGA).

The system features several additions to the design of the original DS, including a slider on the side of the device that adjusts the intensity of the 3D effect, a round nub analog input called the "Slide Pad", an accelerometer, and a gyroscope. In addition, there is an infra-red communicator port situated on the top of the unit.

The 3DS has two cameras on the outside of the device, capable of taking 3D photos and capturing 3D video, as well as a camera positioned above the top screen on the inside of the device which faces the player, capable of taking 2D photos and capturing 2D video; all three cameras have a resolution of 640×480 pixels (0.3 megapixel). The system also has 3D movie playback capability; Nintendo has made deals with Warner Bros, Disney, and DreamWorks to deliver 3D movies. Although no titles have been announced yet, the trailers for DreamWorks' How to Train Your Dragon, Warner Bros' upcoming film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole, and Disney’s upcoming film Tangled were shown on the 3DS during the Expo.

In addition to its own software, the Nintendo 3DS will be backward compatible with Nintendo DS software, including DSi software. Announced titles include Kid Icarus: Uprising and Mario Kart 3DS. Many companies have signed on to develop for the 3DS, and over 60 titles in all have been confirmed. At launch, the Nintendo 3DS cards will hold up to 2GB of game data and look almost exactly the same as those of the current DS. However, there is a small tab jutting out on the one side, most likely to prevent 3DS cards from being inserted in a Nintendo DS.

It was announced at the Nintendo of Japan press event on September 29, 2010 that the 3DS will have a Virtual Console Service with Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and "Classic Games" in 3D.

Multitasking is available on the 3DS (i.e. You can access web browser while in game).

Miis will be available on the system. There will be a new Mii Creator on 3DS with the ability to import from the Wii and create a Mii from a photo taken by one of the cameras. Miis can also be loaded by capturing special QR codes with one of the cameras. There also will be a 3DS Mii Plaza to house all the Miis you've seen in Tag Mode.

Several augmented reality games will be included on the 3DS with 6 paper cards that interact with the games.

The system supports multiplayer gameplay via a local wireless connection or over the Internet. Expanding upon the connectivity of the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo 3DS features an "always on" background connectivity system that current trademarks suggest the name being "CrossPass", which can automatically seek and connect to wireless network nodes such as Wi-Fi hotspots, sending and downloading information in the background while in sleep mode or while playing a game. One application being considered for Crosspass is functionality to "automatically acquire magazine and newspaper articles", similar to networked e-book reader applications. The background connectivity will be utilized in Crosspass, which allows users to exchange software content regardless of what software is currently in the console. For Crosspass, sharing content is stored in a "data slot" in the console. Using this data slot, Nintendo 3DS users can readily share and exchange content for multiple games at the same time, whenever they are connected, even when playing unrelated games. Using the console's background connectivity, a Nintendo 3DS in Crosspass Mode can automatically discover other 3DS units within range, establish a connection, and exchange content for mutually-played games, all transparently and without requiring any user input, even when the console is dormant. Crosspass Mode can be customized to fit the user's preferences, including opting out of Crosspass Mode for selected software. An included cradle allows for faster downloads and uploads, and will act as a charger." --Wikipedia

  24. QUESTION:
What is the best version of FMA?
I want to get into Full Metal Alchemist but I want to know which version I should watch first. The original or the remake Brotherhood.
I'm not sure because Brotherhood can be more easily found since it's newer but I can watch the original up to ep 47 on funimations YouTube channel

    • ANSWER:
Brotherhood is not a remake. Brotherhood is the offical anime adaptation of the Fullmetal Alchemist Manga series, in contrast to the first series, which has it's own story.
The first 2003 anime series was according to my eyes, a mistake, since it Arakawa herself was not involved with the writing of it, and because it infiltrated with the Manga's release and story.

My take on this is that you shoud start by watching the first series, then go and look up the story of the manga and the differences between the two, and even read the manga if can and want to. And then watch Brotherhood as the final act, and obviously you should watch it in Japanese.

Add: The first FMA film "Conqueror of Shamballa" (2005) is the direct continuation of the 2003 seires, so remember to watch that after you've finished it.
And "The Sacred Star of Milos" (2011) after Brotherhood.

  26. QUESTION:
will there be a part 2 for the korean version of Boys over Flowers?
i am curious if there will be a part 2 of BBF just like the japanese version, after Meteor Garden they aired Meteor Rain. I JUST HOPE THERE IS! :)

    • ANSWER:
No, there will not be a second season :(

There' were A LOT of rumors saying that there will, but the first season was in 2009 and it's already 2011

Besides, the rumors were saying that a new season would be out in October 2009 . . there wasn't. Then they thought it was going to be one in February 2011 . . there wasn't.

Also, the last episode pretty much summed up the whole thing and confirmed that jan Di would eventually marry Jun Pyo, Jun Pyo took over his father's company, Ji Hoo and Jan Di became doctors, Ga Eul and Yi Jeong ended up together, etc. It seemed pretty final.

      But you can always watch:

      1) The "4 Years Later" for every F4 member. You can find it on youtube
      2) Chinese version (most recent version in later 2010) called "Let's Go watch a Meteor Shower". There are 2 seasons
      3) Other dramas the main actors were in after BOF
Playful Kiss- Kim Hyun Joong(Ji Hoo)
City Hunter- Lee Min Ho(Jun Pyo) This drama is currently filming and will be aired next month

  30. QUESTION:
What is the name of this Yu-gi-oh movie?
I want to know what the name of the the yugioh movie that Kaiba has Obelisk the Tormentor and Yugi has Slifer the sky dragon. I thought it was the Pyramid of Light but its not. Please help.

    • ANSWER:
"The first movie of the series was simply titled Yu-Gi-Oh! and was released only in Japan. A thirty-minute movie produced by Toei Animation, it was first shown in theaters on March 6, 1999. Its characters are from the first series Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. The movie is about a boy named Shōgo, who is too timid to duel, even after he got a powerful rare card; the legendary Red-Eyes Black Dragon, in his Deck. Yugi tries to bring Shōgo's courage out in a duel with Seto Kaiba, who has his eyes on Shōgo's rare card.

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light , often referred to as simply Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie, was first released in North America on August 13, 2004. The movie was developed specifically for Western audiences by 4Kids based on the overwhelming success of the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise in the United States. Warner Bros. distributed the film in most English-speaking countries. Its characters are from the second series Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. In the movie, which takes place following the Battle City arc, Yugi faces Anubis, the Egyptian God of the Dead. An extended uncut Japanese version of the movie premiered in special screenings in Japan on November 3, 2004 under the title Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters: Pyramid of Light. The movie was then aired on TV Tokyo on January 2, 2005. Attendees of the movie during its premiere (U.S. or Japan) got 1 of 4 free Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game cards. The cards were Pyramid of Light, Sorcerer of Dark Magic, Blue Eyes Shining Dragon and Watapon. The Home Video Release also gave out one of the Free Cards with an offer to get all 4 by mail (though the promotion ended in December 2004). In Australia, New Zealand, Germany and the United Kingdom, free promotional cards were also given out, however, they were given out at all screenings of the movie, and not just the premiere.

Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D: Bonds Beyond Time , known in Japan as Yu-Gi-Oh! Movie: Super Fusion! Bonds that Transcend Time (劇場版 遊☆戯☆王 ~超融合!時空を越えた絆~ Gekijō-ban Yūgiō ~Chō-Yūgō! Jikū o Koeta Kizuna~?), also known as Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th (遊☆戯☆王 10th?) is a 3-D film released on January 23, 2010 in Japan. The film will be released in North America on February 26, 2011 with additional footage, where it will also receive an encore screening in Japan.[19] The movie celebrates the 10th anniversary of the first NAS series (as opposed to the anniversary of the manga) and features an original storyline involving Yugi Muto, Jaden Yuki (Judai Yuki) from Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and Yusei Fudo from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, fighting against a new enemy named Paradox.[20] It was first teased with short animations featured at the start of episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's during the third season. The film will be released on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in July 2011, with the UK release by Manga Entertainment being the first bilingual release of the franchise since the Uncut Yu-Gi-Oh! DVDs.[21]"

You're probably thinking of an episode, but I dunno what episode specifically.

  31. QUESTION:
What is the story for X-Men: First Class?
I just read that X-Men: First Class is set to hit theaters next summer, but also that they are re-casting the role of Storm. Is this going to be another prequel like X-Men: Wolverine?

    • ANSWER:
      yes in 2011 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1430132/ also

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men_Origins:_Wolverine
Hood speculated that there will be a sequel, which will be set in Japan. During one of the post credits scenes Logan is seen drinking at a bar in Japan. Such a location was the subject of Claremont and Miller's series, which was not in the first film as Jackman felt "what we need to do is establish who [Logan] is and find out how he became Wolverine". Jackman stated the Claremont-Miller series is his favorite Wolverine story. Of the Japanese arc, Jackman also stated that:

“ ..there are so many areas of that Japanese story, I love the idea of this kind of anarchic character, the outsider, being in this world - I can see it aesthetically, too - full of honor and tradition and customs and someone who’s really anti-all of that, and trying to negotiate his way. The idea of the samurai, too - and the tradition there. It’s really great. In the comic book he gets his ass kicked by a couple of samurai - not even mutants. He’s shocked by that at first.”

Jackman added that another Wolverine film would be a follow-up rather than continuing on from X-Men: The Last Stand. The inclusion of Deadpool and Gambit also leads to the possibilities of their own spin-offs. Before Wolverine's release, Lauren Shuler Donner approached Simon Beaufoy to write the script, but he did not feel confident enough to commit. On May 5, just two days after its initial weekend run, the sequel was officially confirmed. A Deadpool spin-off has also been confirmed with Ryan Reynolds attached to reprise the role of Wade Wilson, but producer Shuler Donner stated that she wants to "ignore the version of Deadpool that we saw in Wolverine and just start over again. Reboot it."

Christopher McQuarrie, who went uncredited for his work on X-Men, was hired to write the screenplay for the Wolverine sequel in August 2009.

According to Lauren Schuler-Donner, the sequel will focus on the relationship between Wolverine and Mariko, the daughter of a Japanese crime lord, and what happens to him in Japan. Wolverine will have a different fighting style due to Mariko's father having "this stick-like weapon. There'll be samurai, ninja, katana blades, different forms of martial arts - mano-a-mano, extreme fighting." She continued: "We want to make it authentic so I think it's very likely we'll be shooting in Japan. I think it's likely the characters will speak English rather than Japanese with subtitles. In January 2010, at the People's Choice Awards, Jackman stated that the film will start shooting sometime in 2011, and in March 2010 McQuarrie declared that the screenplay was finished for production to start in January the following year

Preferably a COMEDY-DRAMA-LOVE STORY like movie, but action/adventure/sci-fi is okay too. Something like Cyborg Girl(2008).

    Thanks a lot! =D
I forgot to mention that I don't like horror and suspense types of movies. Sorry.

    • ANSWER:
I would like to recommend a lot. But you're looking for movies only not drama series, right?
      Here:

*I Give My First Love to You (This is one of Japan's blockbuster hits.)
      *Kimi ni Todoke
*Koizora (But this was released on 2007)
      *Hanamizuki

Hope this helps. Enjoy watching. :)

*Funny Games (2008) (both physical and emotional torture not actually a gory one but I love the story)
Heartstopper (2006) (it was a good movie but not great cuz it's kinda a low budget film)
*Hellraiser Series (1987 – 2011) (oh a classic torture! Love this series but has a paranormal mix)
*Rest Stop: Dead Ahead (2006) (Love this one too has a paranormal mix)

  35. QUESTION:
What is it about Lés Miserables (if you enjoyed it) that captivated you?

    • ANSWER:
oh, you have no idea! I am a teenage girl who is completely and utterly OBSESSED with les miserables. My friends want to kill me whenever i mention how great this show is. Okay, so I love the story line. Its so tragic and captivating that you just get sucked into the drama. My favorite character is fantine, because she is just such a dedicated mother. She is the most tragic and real character of them all. Between Eponine and Cosette, it is obvious who is the most deserving. (Eponine) Her song, On My Own, is my all-time favorite song and probably the most beautiful song in the whole play. Jean Valjean- what is there to say about him? He is my hero. In fact, I have a shirt that says, "What Would Jean Valjean Do?" No one knows how to say it so they say, "Who's Gene Valgene?" I always reply that he is the most amazing person ever. Javert is actually misunderstood, though. Well that's how I interpret his character. Here are my top five songs:
      1. On My Own (pure genius)
      2. Come To Me/Fantine's Death (brings me to tears every time I hear it)
      3. I Dreamed a Dream (another tearjerker)
      4. Stars (super catchy)
      5. Castle on a Cloud (very cute)

If you really like this show as much as I do, you should check out Shoujo Cosette. Its a japanese anime series telling the story of les miserables. Of course its not as great as the original, there is no music, and its in japanese, it does give justice to the compelling and awesome story that is Les Mis.

P.S- never seen the show live, but I have the dvd of Les Mis in concert in London with the dream cast. It was the concert that was recorded live in 1995. It was on the BBC channel and is available on amazon.com. I also saw the 1998 film version with just acting, but I would have liked it better if it had music. And of course I've seen the anime (by the way it has sub titles) I'm going to see the tour in 2011 though. And I hear that a Les Mis musical movie is in the works. But I did hear that on Wikipedia, so I don't know how reliable that is. Anyway, I'm probably the biggest Mizfit ever, so I really love discussing everything Les Mis. thanks for the question! :)

and i read the book when I was 12. people thought I was crazy and wouldn't understand it, but I relished every sentence, even the one with 800 words in it! 😀

  37. QUESTION:
which comes first sora no otoshimono movie, or forte?
I kinda wanna watch it all in order, so which comes first the movie or the forte?

    • ANSWER:
The film premiered in Japanese theaters on June 25, 2011 and the first episode of Sora no Otoshimono: Forte originally aired on October 1, 2010 so that means that Sora no Otoshimono the Movie: The Angeloid of Clockwork came first.

  38. QUESTION:
is there still going to be a death note American remake?
imdb says one will come out in 2014, but there were rumours one would come out in 2010 and, obviously, that didn't happen. So will there be one at all?
    thanks

    • ANSWER:
      United States remake

Death Note has been optioned for a live-action Hollywood remake. A 2007 article in The Star (Malaysia) states that more than ten film companies in the United States expressed interest in creating a remake. On April 30, 2009, Variety magazine announced that Warner Bros. acquired the rights for the Death Note manga to be adapted into a live-action movie in the United States. Warner Bros. has hired screenwriters Charley and Vlas Parlapanides to adapt the manga into a screenplay. Unlike the Japanese Death Note live-action movie trilogy, the US-version will be directly adapted from the material in the manga and will not follow the storyline of the Japanese movie adaptations. On January 13, 2011, it was announced that Shane Black the director of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, has been hired to direct the film, with the script being written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry. Warner's studios planned to change the background story of Yagami, into one of vengeance instead of justice, and also the removal of Shinigami. But Black opposed this change and has not been under the green-light.

Is there still talk regarding 2012?
I think with all the stuff happening this year during 2011(ex.Japanese mega earth quake, discovery of comet elinin, dead birds and fish plagues everywhere), is it possible they are linked to 2012 some how?

    • ANSWER:
      Hi Justin,

There is indeed still talk regarding 2012, more’s the pity. And it’s almost exclusively from slack-witted fools with terminally dysfunctional bullcrap detectors, who wouldn’t know the meaning of ‘coincidences of natural history’ if the phrase were incarnated as an angry billy goat gruff and butted them on their big silly bottoms.

Personally, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the apocalypse and post-apocalyptic subgenres of science FICTION, ever since...

Ichigo's family is targeted by the Unforgiven, who are led by Shuren, and Ichigo's younger sister Yuzu Kurosaki is abducted. An Unforgiven named Kokutō saves Karin Kurosaki from being abducted as well, and convinces Ichigo to accompany him and the Soul Reapers to Hell to save her. When they are attacked by monsters called Kushanāda, the guardians of Hell, on the journey, Ichigo's Hollow mask begins to spontaneously manifest. Kokutō warns him to avoid using his mask lest he lose control and hollowfy entirely, and tells him that the Kushanāda torture Unforgiven for their sins by killing them, as Unforgiven continuously revive, and that spirits killed in Hell become Unforgiven themselves. Rukia, Renji, and Ishida battle Shuren's allies and Ichigo and Kokutō fight Shuren, and it becomes apparent that Shuren plans to use Ichigo's powers to escape Hell. After Shuren and the other Unforgiven are defeated, Kokutō betrays Ichigo, revealing he was the one behind Yuzu's kidnapping. Kokutō reveals Yuzu has become an Unforgiven and an enraged Ichigo hollowfies, blasting Kokutō with his Cero, destroying most of the chains binding him to Hell and burning through the gates of Hell. Rukia and Ishida are cut down by Kokutō, and Renji breaks Ichigo's Hollow mask and activates a kido that transports Ichigo and Yuzu out of Hell before being defeated.
After Orihime fails to heal Yuzu, Ichigo is put under surveilence by Soul Society to prevent him from returning to Hell. When Yuzu spontaneously revives, Ichigo returns to Hell to rescue his friends and confronts Kokutō, who had killed Renji and Ishida and turned Rukia into an Unforgiven. Resisting hollowfication, Ichigo undergoes a transformation after being given power by the Kushanāda, becoming covered in bones, and seals Kokutō, bringing his friends back to life and escaping Hell as the gates repair themselves and vanish.

I ordered a DVD ages ago called 'Smuggler' which is a Japanese movie filmed in 2011. I also never realised that it didn't come with subtitles.

What in asking is, does anyone know where I can download the movie with English subtitles? The full name of it is Sumagurâ: Omae no mirai o hakobe, but it is also known as Smuggler.

I'm looking for just a download or a torrent and I'm wanting to be able to download it onto my iPod.

    Answers are appreciated! Thank you!
I appreciated the answers, but none of them work unfortunately and my laptop doesn't seem to let me access PirateBay. I've tried that link several times before and it has never let me on it yet. Although I can access all the other PirateBay's but that one.

Out of curiosity, is there any MP4 ones around or even a DVD/Blu Ray version that I can order? I live in the United Kingdom, so I would be in Region 2.

  47. QUESTION:
    Do you like fujifilm cameras?
im planning on buying the Fujifilm FinePix S2950 digital camera. But i wanted to know what do you think about fujifilm camera? I need to know i dont wanna end up buying a bad camera...please help

    • ANSWER:
Hi Sara, and welcome to Y!A Camcorders:

Fuji doesn't really make any true camcorders, so normally this Question would be better posted over in the Y!A "Cameras" category. But at least this model FinePix has a decent zoom lens (18x optical) and shoots 720p HD video clips, in addition to 14Megapixel stills.

One step up from a basic "point & shoot" camera, this model is what is called a "bridge camera" (more features than just snapshot cameras, but not quite an SLR-style camera). The lens may have a long-zoom range compared to most cameras in its price class (0-0), but it's also not a very "fast" lens (wide-open it only has F3.1 to F5.6, depending on wide-angle or zoomed-in) so it's not very good in low-light situations. So if you shoot video with it (where the flash is useless) indoor results might be disappointing.

Fuji is a good brand name (they're the "Japanese Kodak" when it comes to camera film & processing) and –like Kodak– they've made cameras for years. They're just not one of the first brand names professionals and skilled amateurs think of when shopping for equipment.

CNet reviews gave this model 3-out-of-5 stars ("Good"), but pointed out the low-light and other shooting performance issues: see http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/fujifilm-finepix-s2950/4505-6501_7-34468871.html

Here's a Digital Photography Reviews article that's more of a copy of Fuji's press release than a review, but it covers all the features and specifications: http://www.dpreview.com/news/2011/1/5/fujifilms2950

Decide what kind of photos and videos are important to you, and if having a long lens isn't that important, you might search around for a better camera or camcorder in the same price range. But if you found that this model handles your style of shooting, and the price is right, go for it.

Just keep in mind that "cameras" are mainly designed for stills, and "camcorders" have features that make it easier for shooting videos.

      hope this helps,
      --Dennis C.

  48. QUESTION:
What is the newest sonic the hedgehoge tv series?! Plz help?!?!?
i need help?! i'm an ultimate sonic fan. what is the newest sonic tv series?
plz answer i love him. and plz write the time that the series were released. BTW is there a new sonic tv series coming out lately? like on 2011 or 2012 or something like that.
write the year the last tv series were released, and include the series name.

    • ANSWER:
"In 2003, 4Kids Entertainment and VIZ Media co-licensed Sonic X for the United States, with the series being distributed by Paramount Pictures, Sonic Team. and Jetix Animation Concepts and licensed on DVD by FUNimation, Alliance Films (Canada) and Paramount Home Entertainment (UK). The episodes were then localized for the intended demographic, including the complete replacement of the score, as well as removing suggestive content and changing the fate of several characters, as well as editing the story to be much lighter and younger in tone for US Release. Other continuity errors include mislabelling "Chaos Control" as Doctor Eggman's base. While both English and Japanese characters were digitally removed or replaced with incoherent symbols (This was done by TMS Entertainment themselves, rather than 4Kids.), Chinese characters were unedited in The Adventures of Knuckles and Hawk, in coherence with the episode's setting."

IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCH THE RAW UNDUBBED ANIME VERSION OF SONIC X THEN YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE REAL STORY THE WAY THE WRITER INTENDED BUT.....
"As of June 28, 2011, all episodes of the Japanese Sonic X with english subtitles became available to watch" So finally this year you can buy and watch the original Sonic X

Sonic X is the latest sonic show especially sense the 2011 release of the much different unedited version

✖Apparently Zac Efron will star as Light in this remake! WTF.

So my question is... why remake such good films just to put it in english? It just ruins the original don't you think? And the worse part is pretty much 90% of the time our American producers don't even acknowledge that it was a remake of an Asian film to the public!! So basically the general population thinks that it's an american film and then have a misconception that Asian films are terrible or just "hai ya! ching chong kung fu fighting" when there is so much more!

Like one time this guy's like "Oh that jackie chan film is pretty good "FO

    • ANSWER:
I think a lot of the time they're trying to capitalize on the success... man I don't know :( All I know is I'm DREADING the Old Boy remake.. =/
