Go to YELP or Craigslist and read reviews or post on their message boards there from your city, or search name of agency under Better Business Bureau.

In Vogue UK, now hires 13-14 year old models. But there's a documentary "Girl Model" too young, too thin on Vogue models, shown at SXSW and the Toronto International Film festival, highlights the search and scouting of young girls in the modeling industry. Teen models have no clue what they're getting themselves into. They're naive. They get free food, free alcohol, they are forced into prostitution, too many abuses, sexual, physical, emotional you just can't believe.

The best way to deal with modeling agencies is by contacting your area that is local and have a good record through the Better Business Bureau, not online. I went to a poise & charm school, back in the 70's, and wasted my money because they didn't promise they'll give me a job, but I learned something from it. I learned how to be poise, presentable, and walk like a model, and that is not something you won't ever forget, to look like a model.

  4. QUESTION:
Any good Japanese films/anime (movies) released in 2012 you could recommend?
I don't really like the "abstract Japanese stuff" if you know what I mean. I've been trying to find to watch a good new Japanese movie that could be suspense and entertaining. I like any genre but has to have a good story. All new Japanese movies that I watched recently were really bad, so that's why I need advice...PS I watched all Kurosawa's, old Gibli Studio animes, Tampopo, Takashi Kitano's, Departed and some horror movies, The Hidden Blade, Twilight Samurai...I like samurai old movies and also anything else with suspense including good dramas..

Recommend Any Good Japanese Horror Films/Animes in 2012?
Does anyone know any good ones coming out in 2012? I've seen a few and some are not really as scary but gory and gross. Some were quite boring and long with so many unnecessary fillers.
Animes such as Monster, Death Note, Black Butler, and Paranoia Agent were awesome, I didn't want those to end. The Ring was okay and the Grudge was not too bad.

    • ANSWER:

  13. QUESTION:
how do you have to look ilke and how tall to be a model?
Im im turning 14 in a week, and am 5 foot 4 , have dark brown eyes, white skin, black wavy hair and a mole on my right cheek. And is not a humongus gross mole ( people say i look cute with my mole.(sorry didnt add picture). Am i too short or something? Tank you :)

    • ANSWER:
Modeling is not just the pretty face, or cute or the height. Back in the 90s, models looked like women and not 12 year old boys, and this is now 2013 . . . . fashion industry can be difficult for young women to deal with, today, this is 2013.

Everyone can be a model. Look @ Coco now, (Coco married Ice T), she was 5'2" and 100lbs. Brooke Burke Charvet is only 5'7". Mila Kunis is the newest face for Christian Dior she's 5'4"

Look like one, dress like one, walk like one. An example for a Nike model: 5'7-5'9" height, waist 29-30", bust 35"-36 1/2", hip 38"-39", B or C cup, trim, athletic, & lean. Ages must be between 18-28. Pay? .hr.

It's a very demanding career, and if you can handle stress and ready to give them 120% then you're IN. As any model candidate, would you be willing to give up your long beautiful hair, to look like Emma or Ashlee Simpson? Yes, that means, you'll be willing to give up ANYTHING to your image, to get to the top! Cindy Crawford's daughter, who was 10, asked by the Versace people for her to do advertisement in January, but she was not their priority, she actually had to wait for 4 hours for her photo shoot - like everyone else!

There were 10,000 hopeful models for Victoria's Secret in Dec. fashion show also. Out of those, 5 were chosen as finalists, and only one was chosen as the winner. Check it out. It's not just a pretty face. It takes a certain walk, attitude, confidence & can stand the stress. Some models were discovered walking home from a vacation at the airport, sitting in restaurants with their family, or walking in the malls. Natalie Portman was discovered by a modeling agent at a pizza parlor, but she'd rather be an actress. Height 5' 3"

  14. QUESTION:
what is the new godzilla model for the movie gonna be?
i hear there's gonna be a new godzilla movie in 2014 or before, i wanna know what kind they r gonna take for the movie? is it good or bad? id prefer the roland emmerich's one which looked like a huge lizard n a dinosaur.....unlike the old toys like one from the japanese.......is it gonna be the good one which survived from the 1998's movie.....or is all over from the beginning......?

    • ANSWER:
I'm not sure when (or if) the Japanese version is relaunching, but Legendary Pictures is working on another American take on the franchise which is due out sometime next year (2012). A picture of the concept art for this guy (the second picture in the attached wikipedia link) looks a lot closer to the original than the Emmerich version (and given that the Emmerich design was overtly made fun of by Toho in Godzilla: Final Wars, I don't think the Japanese will be making a film with a Godzilla that looks like that ever again).

  15. QUESTION:
How do i get into modeling?
I would love to start modeling. But I don't know where to start.. I am from North Dakota. I've always had the passion to model. It is like my dream. I need help on where to start! Please please please!

    • ANSWER:
Thousands of teens have the same passion.

First you need to watch Kim Kardashian's sisters, 15, during their1st photo shoot. You may want to find out, if this is really something you'd like to do. I had a make-over once, before I got married, even though I've wanted to be a model since age 9. . . . But after that make-over, I decided, I didn't want anyone fussing with me, telling me what to wear, what not to wear, and making me look like a clown!

Any age, height or size can be a model. Just turn on your TV and watch a commercial for a minute or two. Those people trying to sell products, THEY'RE all models! Flip through any magazine. . . they're ALL models, too! Even Nordstrom catalogs have hired models with disabilities! DH was a toddler model for Bon Marche. Brooke Shields was an infant model for Ivory. You can also be a hand or feet model, without showing the rest of your body.

I thought I was a model material, until they used me for extra in a movie and modeled once for hair, and realized I don't want anyone fuzzing with me top to bottom and are 'forced to wear and dress like a clown."

  16. QUESTION:
is the mahou shoujo madoka magica movie out yet?
so i heard that there was a trilogy of movies being produced for mahou shoujo madoka magica and was wondering if the first one was out yet. if it is out, has it been english-subbed yet? and where can i watch it?

    • ANSWER:
No, the first movie isn't out, and no release date other than "2012" has been announced yet.

EDIT: Almost right after I answered this question, it was announced that the first Madoka Magica movie is aimed for a fall premier, so I thought I should update my answer: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-03-16/1st-madoka-magica-film-aimed-for-fall

Of course, this doesn't mean that WE will get to see it in the fall. 99% of the time, theatrical anime movies don't show up subbed online until after the Japanese DVD/Blu-ray release, which is usually 6-9 months after the movie premiers in Japanese theaters. There's no video source for the fansubbers to use until then. Rarely, very rarely, a fansub group will get hold of a low-quality camrip and sub that long before the official home video release, but that's so uncommon that there's really no reason to expect that to happen.

  20. QUESTION:
Where i can read a Another (novel) in English written by Yukito Ayatsuji?
    please give me the link.
    Thank you. :]

    • ANSWER:
Another (アナザー Anazā?) is a Japanese fictional mystery horror novel by Yukito Ayatsuji, published on October 29, 2009 by Kadokawa Shoten. A manga adaptation by Hiro Kiyohara was serialized between the May 2010 and January 2012 issues of Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace. A TV anime series produced by P.A. Works premiered on January 10, 2012, and a live-action film will be released in Japanese theatres on August 4, 2012.

There is no FREE and LEGAL English novel online.

  21. QUESTION:
when is Naruto Blood Prison gonna come out online and english sub?

    • ANSWER:
It's unlikely to show up subtitled online until after the DVD/Blu-ray release in Japan, which is set for April 25, 2012. That's the way it almost always works with theatrical anime movies. The fansubbers need a good video source to work with before they can even start subbing it, and since it was a theatrical movie that has so far only been seen in theaters, they won't have a good video source until the home video release of the film at the end of April.

There's a slim chance that someone could decide to sub a low-quality camrip, if one even exists, but that doesn't happen often with anime movies. 99% of the time, fansubbers wait for the official Japanese DVD/Blu-ray release.

  22. QUESTION:
What is the story for X-Men: First Class?
I just read that X-Men: First Class is set to hit theaters next summer, but also that they are re-casting the role of Storm. Is this going to be another prequel like X-Men: Wolverine?

    • ANSWER:
      yes in 2011 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1430132/ also

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men_Origins:_Wolverine
Hood speculated that there will be a sequel, which will be set in Japan. During one of the post credits scenes Logan is seen drinking at a bar in Japan. Such a location was the subject of Claremont and Miller's series, which was not in the first film as Jackman felt "what we need to do is establish who [Logan] is and find out how he became Wolverine". Jackman stated the Claremont-Miller series is his favorite Wolverine story. Of the Japanese arc, Jackman also stated that:

“ ..there are so many areas of that Japanese story, I love the idea of this kind of anarchic character, the outsider, being in this world - I can see it aesthetically, too - full of honor and tradition and customs and someone who’s really anti-all of that, and trying to negotiate his way. The idea of the samurai, too - and the tradition there. It’s really great. In the comic book he gets his ass kicked by a couple of samurai - not even mutants. He’s shocked by that at first.”

Jackman added that another Wolverine film would be a follow-up rather than continuing on from X-Men: The Last Stand. The inclusion of Deadpool and Gambit also leads to the possibilities of their own spin-offs. Before Wolverine's release, Lauren Shuler Donner approached Simon Beaufoy to write the script, but he did not feel confident enough to commit. On May 5, just two days after its initial weekend run, the sequel was officially confirmed. A Deadpool spin-off has also been confirmed with Ryan Reynolds attached to reprise the role of Wade Wilson, but producer Shuler Donner stated that she wants to "ignore the version of Deadpool that we saw in Wolverine and just start over again. Reboot it."

Christopher McQuarrie, who went uncredited for his work on X-Men, was hired to write the screenplay for the Wolverine sequel in August 2009.

According to Lauren Schuler-Donner, the sequel will focus on the relationship between Wolverine and Mariko, the daughter of a Japanese crime lord, and what happens to him in Japan. Wolverine will have a different fighting style due to Mariko's father having "this stick-like weapon. There'll be samurai, ninja, katana blades, different forms of martial arts - mano-a-mano, extreme fighting." She continued: "We want to make it authentic so I think it's very likely we'll be shooting in Japan. I think it's likely the characters will speak English rather than Japanese with subtitles. In January 2010, at the People's Choice Awards, Jackman stated that the film will start shooting sometime in 2011, and in March 2010 McQuarrie declared that the screenplay was finished for production to start in January the following year

  23. QUESTION:
Does anyone have a site to watch Naruto: Blood Prison?
Subbed would be most preferred compared to Dubbed.

    • ANSWER:
Naruto 5: Blood Prison is the eighth overall Naruto film and fifth Naruto: Shippūden film which was released on July 30, 2011 in Japanese theatres. The English subtitled version is expected to be released some time around Summer 2012. only way to watch this movie is Japanese version only...wait about 6 more months for the english sub...then wait 2 - 3 more years for the full english version lol.

  24. QUESTION:
will there be a second season of blood c?
I loved Blood C but it end after only 12 episodes and I'd like to know if there will be an second season please tell me if you know something!!!!

    • ANSWER:
There won't be a second season, but there will be a movie coming out soon to continue the story which is said to come out at Jun 2, 2012.

I'm glad you liked Blood-C, because most people don't. I personally didn't really enjoy how it was too fast paced and I wasn't given any development for the majority of the show, but oh well. If you like it then good for you.

Which brings me to my next topic...because not much people liked this anime, there won't be enough money to animate a second season. The movie is going to be created, because it received financial aid from the government.

The support will be carried out as a part of the International Film Production Support Project of the agency. Production I.G will receive 50 million yen (0,000) from the Japanese government.

THE EYE OF SAURON IS UPON YOU...my Japanese girlfriend said it kind of looks like a dog's one eyed monster! HA HA HA!

    • ANSWER:
Yeah, they're pretty bad, looks like they should be bad guys on an episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

But if you make a film with them, overdub it into Japanese, then give it English subtitles, then give it a weird name and say it didn't translate well into English, I bet it would sell very well as a film in the American market. Might even win an Oscar as best foreign film.

Is there still talk regarding 2012?
I think with all the stuff happening this year during 2011(ex.Japanese mega earth quake, discovery of comet elinin, dead birds and fish plagues everywhere), is it possible they are linked to 2012 some how?

    • ANSWER:
      Hi Justin,

There is indeed still talk regarding 2012, more’s the pity. And it’s almost exclusively from slack-witted fools with terminally dysfunctional bullcrap detectors, who wouldn’t know the meaning of ‘coincidences of natural history’ if the phrase were incarnated as an angry billy goat gruff and butted them on their big silly bottoms.

Personally, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the apocalypse and post-apocalyptic subgenres of science FICTION, ever since...

In one sentence, the whole 2012 apocalypse phenomenon (including the fictional Planet Nibiru) is “a steaming pile of turd” [1] dreamt up for the global woo-woo community [2] for three simple reasons:

  28. QUESTION:
Will the Battle Royale Director's Cut add scenes?
In March 13, 2012 Anchor Bay Entertainment will release a Battle Royale Director's cut DVD.
What I was wondering was if you can watch the original film without the added scenes(Director's Cut). I've watched the one without added scenes and loved it. When I check reviews about the japanese uncut version it makes me not want it. So will there be an optional choice of with or without the Director's Cut?

    • ANSWER:
It probably won't add scenes, but maybe more footage to scenes you already haqve viewed in the original release

  29. QUESTION:
When is The Borrower Arietty going to be released in the U.S?
Apparently the movie Karigurashi no Arrietty or The Borrower Arietty was released in English on Feb 17th, but I can't find any information on it. I'm thinking the information I got was that they would start the English dub on Feb 17th, not release the actual film. The movie was released in Japanese last July and I'm curious if anyone knows if the movie has been released on DVD yet and when it'll come to the U.S.

    • ANSWER:
It appears that it is coming out Feb 17 2012-next year (that is if the earthquake/tsunami in Japan doesn't cause the release date to pushed back-I don't know if Studio Ghibli or a US company would be in charge of the English subtitling).http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1568921/

plz answer i love him. and plz write the time that the series were released. BTW is there a new sonic tv series coming out lately? like on 2011 or 2012 or something like that.
write the year the last tv series were released, and include the series name.

    • ANSWER:
"In 2003, 4Kids Entertainment and VIZ Media co-licensed Sonic X for the United States, with the series being distributed by Paramount Pictures, Sonic Team. and Jetix Animation Concepts and licensed on DVD by FUNimation, Alliance Films (Canada) and Paramount Home Entertainment (UK). The episodes were then localized for the intended demographic, including the complete replacement of the score, as well as removing suggestive content and changing the fate of several characters, as well as editing the story to be much lighter and younger in tone for US Release. Other continuity errors include mislabelling "Chaos Control" as Doctor Eggman's base. While both English and Japanese characters were digitally removed or replaced with incoherent symbols (This was done by TMS Entertainment themselves, rather than 4Kids.), Chinese characters were unedited in The Adventures of Knuckles and Hawk, in coherence with the episode's setting."

IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCH THE RAW UNDUBBED ANIME VERSION OF SONIC X THEN YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE REAL STORY THE WAY THE WRITER INTENDED BUT.....
"As of June 28, 2011, all episodes of the Japanese Sonic X with english subtitles became available to watch" So finally this year you can buy and watch the original Sonic X

Sonic X is the latest sonic show especially sense the 2011 release of the much different unedited version

And the worse part is pretty much 90% of the time our American producers don't even acknowledge that it was a remake of an Asian film to the public!! So basically the general population thinks that it's an american film and then have a misconception that Asian films are terrible or just "hai ya! ching chong kung fu fighting" when there is so much more!

    • ANSWER:
I've always had a problem with Hollywood remaking Asian movies. It is because Hollywood can no longer come up with original ideas anymore (they are now even remaking old American movies). I much prefer the original movies to any remake. With the remakes of most Asian movies that Hollywood does it loses a lot of what makes it 'scary' I think.

  33. QUESTION:
    Berserk 2012 movie English release?
I saw the dvd/blu ray on Amazon, it said it will be released in Sept. 27. And that it'll be in Japanese and English, but I could not find any of the English voice actor's names anywhere? will this release be i English? I hope so, I can't wait. And also the second part of the movie too, from what I know it was already released in June I think. I've already seen the first and, although it felt a little bit rushed, it was awesome. THE RUNNING MAN (1987)
      Rotten Tomatoes rating: 63 percent
A police officer (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is wrongly accused of a crime and sentenced to take part in a game show where he and other contestants are hunted down by costumed killers. It’s grim and sometimes graphic, but it’s also funny (like when the gameshow host, played by Richard Dawson, gets his comeuppance). It also may be the only movie to feature two future governors in its cast: Schwarzenegger (California) and Jesse “The Body” Ventura (Minnesota). Based on a short story from Stephen King.

      BATTLE ROYALE (2000)
      Rotten Tomatoes rating: 84 percent
Violent and disturbing Japanese film (with subtitles) about a class of 42 ninth-graders who are taken to a deserted island and given three days to kill each other. The trailers alone are enough to freak most people out. An American version is reportedly in the works for 2015.

      DEATH RACE 2000 (1975)
      Rotten Tomatoes rating: 85 percent
Contestants in a cross-country auto race earn points for running down pedestrians in the most violent ways possible. A young Sylvester Stallone stars as one of the racers, and it’s produced by Roger Corman, king of the B movies. A remake of sorts, “Death Race,” came out in 2008 and starred Jason Statham.

      ROLLERBALL (1975)
      Rotten Tomatoes rating: 68 percent
In a society where violence has been outlawed, a brutal game called Rollerball is the national pastime. Its most popular player (James Caan) becomes a little too popular for the shadowy forces running the game, though, and they plot to have him “accidentally” killed. A much-maligned 2002 remake has Chris Klein in Caan’s role.

      GAMER (2009)
      Rotten Tomatoes rating: 30 percent
A convict (Gerard Butler) is sentenced to participate in a game in which he is controlled by a player (Logan Lerman). If he can survive 30 levels, he will be set free. But if he dies in the game, he dies for real.

      GLADIATOR (2000)
      Rotten Tomatoes rating: 78 percent
A Roman general (Russell Crowe) is sentenced to fight in the Colosseum and becomes so popular he threatens the power of the new emperor (Joaquin Phoenix). Won five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor.

      ARENA (2011)
      Rotten Tomatoes rating: Not rated
A suicidal firefighter (Kellan Lutz) is kidnapped and finds himself in a popular — and illegal — web show called “The Deathgames” that throws contestants into a gladiatorial arena to fight to the death.

Movies Like The Hunger Games - The Condemned (2007)
      The Condemned (2007)
      What's it about?

Jack Conrad is awaiting the death penalty in a corrupt Central American prison. He is "purchased" by a wealthy television producer and taken to a desolate island where he must fight to the death against nine other condemned killers from all corners of the world, with freedom going to the sole survivor.

  35. QUESTION:
Are American movies the worst kind now?
i mean, abraham lincoln the vampire hunter? is that seriously the best USA can come up with these days? some good films in the 80's but the stories now are embarrassing, patriotic, cheesy etc

if it wasn't for British influence/stories like titanic, lord of the rings, harry potter, james bond etc (that make billions) i think hollywood would be pretty much dead in the water

Indian Bollywood is becoming huge, as well as Japanese cinema, European etc films with a bit of creativity and depth

    • ANSWER:
For every bad American movie, there's also a bad European and Indian film. This question is loaded and full of the kind of stupid ignorance that leads to more ignorance. Good writing and filming doesn't come from any single nation or influence. It comes from individuals who want to tell a good story, and good stories come from eclectic backgrounds.

For example, The Titanic isn't influenced by the British. It's based on American history and was written by a Canadian who was appealing to American audiences.

Here's a list of a bunch of American films that have been released in 2012 so far. Lots of good ones in there, and the vast majority of them don't have any of your "British influence":

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_films_of_2012

Good and bad movies are products of people being people, regardless of where they come from. Some care about quality, others don't, and their nationality has nothing to do with this. Picking a single film from near the low end of spectrum that does NOT properly indicate the average film of its origins -- and one that has been universally rejected by most Americans, no less -- to base a poorly constructed argument against the American filming industry is an indication of an overly biased mind that hasn't given much towards forethought and consideration, or the fact that the American culture is a melting pot of ideas from all over the world.

  36. QUESTION:
is there a website with dubbed gintama?
I don't want to watch it in Japanese

    • ANSWER:
There is no dubbed version of Gintama as of yet but as AnimeLover has said, there is going to be a dub for the movie which is being released on May 29. (Pre-order it here: http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/2dGWEWNW-aIro-o0eE/browse/item/94401/4/0/0 ) However, the licensor and dubbing company, Sentai Filmworks, is considering licensing and dubbing the other seasons (possibly dubbing and re-releasing season 1) if the movie sells well.

      http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-03-18/sentai-filmworks-considers-more-gintama-based-on-film-sales

So yeah... I suggest buying the movie (which is awesome) if you want to help Gintama be dubbed. It's pretty inexpensive, by the way.

Modeling is not just the pretty face or the height.

38. QUESTION:
Can anyone tell me where to find similar music, and if it's on iTunes?
Okay, so I found this book series and I love it, so I was looking up the author's website and I went to the section for the books and I found she and a friend had composed music for the books but it's not on iTunes. Can anyone tell me where to find similar music, and if it is on iTunes where to find it? HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

    http://maggiestiefvater.com/the-shiver-trilogy/extras/

    • ANSWER:
      beautiful music.

I think the first track uses Japanese instruments - flute, recorder, and combining it with western instruments like harp and violin, common and effective with soundtracks. And yeah it seems the author hasn't released the music on itunes.

I've found the soundtracks to the animated films by Japanese 'Studio Ghibli' to be very similar.

Eg, the soundtrack to the BEAUTIFUL 2012 film The Secret World of Arrietty:

      it's on itunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/secret-world-arrietty-soundtrack/id506240819

a perfect example is the theme song (instrumental), track 6.

btw, you need to see that film if you want to have a life worth living! It left me speechless and unable to move, with tears in my eyes after watching it.

      Hope that helps :)

  39. QUESTION:
do you think i will become a model at 16?
i'm 14 years old and i really want to become a model but i think i'm really young to be a model at this age and i'm too short because i'm only 159 tall so i was thinking of exercising everyday and i saw youtube videos on how to grow taller so i will copy every move they do everyday and run every sunday and eat healthy! also i will take care of my skin and keep it clear and stuff.. btw people say i'm really skinny and they also say i have the perfect size i don't know what my weight is but i think its 40 or something, but anyways i will try my best to become taller and skinnier till i turn 16.. do you think i could become a model?? ps. a lot of people called me pretty, perfect, etc and they also mentioned that i should be a model.. i have dark eyes, hair,my skin tone is tan/bronze, and nearly have the same eyebrows as cara delevingne, etc..

  42. QUESTION:
Are they still doing the Death Note movie? (The new western one)?
They said they were doing a movie of Death note with western characters such as Zac Efron as Light Yagami etc etc. But it said it was coming out in 2011, though it's already half way through 2012.

But to be honest, I hope they don't. I am a death note fan, and I'm about to watch the 2nd part to the Japanese film (I've ordered it yesterday) and so far they've done a really good job. I don't want another one coming out. Especially with Zac Efron, he belongs on high school musical, not live action anime.

So, have they postponed it or decided to stop it completely? I'm curious. Thank-you! ^_^
Btw I found out it wasn't a rumour and it's true, so yeah.

    • ANSWER:
Yes, they're still planning on doing it, they're just experiencing huge delays because of the script. Since the original announcement, they've changed directors four times...Shane Black is the current director (Iron Man 3 - filming, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Lethal Weapon).

The script that was presented to him took out Ryuuk completely and made Light into a good guy...this script was scrapped so they're back to the beginning. And Shane is currently working on Iron Man 3...Death Note isn't expected until 2014. But that might get pushed back even farther, who knows.

  44. QUESTION:
Is modeling while in school a do-able thing?
    Hello,
I'm in my first year of a post-bac for med school. The problem is I have no money left and I need a job, but between studying and volunteering and clinics rounds I don't have the energy to work a normal job that requires me too much brain power or responsibility, like a secretary or a waitress. My whole entire life people have been telling me to model, some even go so far to say that I shouldn't bother being a doctor because I could do this stuff instead, which is kind of rude but whatever. I've had agents stop me on the street, with my parents and alone, since I was about 13. I'm guessing this means I'm "pretty" enough, but before I even go there I just want to get a sense of how much time and effort and energy it really does take to do modeling. I know nothing in life is as easy as it seems. Is modeling something I can do as a side job type of thing? Is it flexible like that? How hard is it to get "in to" the business? Okay, thanks
    tia

Would I be able to be a model?
I'm 5'9", maybe a little bit over, 34-25-34, weight about 120, thigh measurement 20", light blonde, clear blue eyes, long looking legs, long torso, but I'm worried because even though I work out a lot I have that little "pouch" under my belly button so do you have any suggestions for that? If you guys think I would be okay where should I try to go? (I'm in the NYC area)
I do have confidence to a certain extent. More than a typical teenage girl however at the same time I'm not cocky. I would do anything for this career, go bald, due my hair, put spiders on my face, etc... I just feel confident and like I belong behind the camera. That's my comfort zone

Read what one model says about his hair: "I work as a model and went through a period of work where my hair was constantly straightened for photoshoots and shows; after about two or three weeks of having my hair straightened almost every day my hair has evidently become so damaged that it's stopped curling about two inches from my scalp. The roots of my hair still curl, everything below that hangs limp and straight and dead. I've never heard of this happening to anyone else, nor has anyone else I've spoken to including numerous hair dressers."

  46. QUESTION:
Why does One Piece always sale so much in Japan?
Ok so One Piece is the highest selling manga of all times. That something I understand. But the thing I don't understand is how come One Piece sales are always high in Japan? To me the anime and manga is awesome. It has a very good plot, it's comedy is good like other anime, the art is ok, and it is one of the greatest anime in this current generation. So if One Piece is as good as the other popular anime like Dragon Ball/Z, Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail etc, why does it sale always greatly surpass other popular anime in sales?

That something I been trying to figure out. One Piece has greatly blown out other manga sales and the 2 highest manga sales by 14 million in 2012 highest selling manga in 2012. It is the 1# highest manga sale of the year in Japan 2012. It films sales in a weeks are always more then average and sometimes break other films record sales. And lastly it the most popular anime in Japan. Now why is this anime and manga are always selling so high? I find it to be as decent as Naruto, better then Bleach and Fairy Tail and even with the Dragon ball series. (Highly debatable with One Piece and Dragon Ball/Z since both Eiichiro Oda and Akira Toriyama are both very successful artist) So why do you think One Piece is so successful at selling so much in Japan?

    • ANSWER:
      > And lastly it the most popular anime in Japan.
It's actually not. Sazae-san is the most popular anime in Japan. It takes the top spot in viewer ratings each week with about 17%. Which is why it's the longest running anime in existence--it started in 1969 an has over 7 thousand episodes.

Chibi Maruko-chan and Doraemon and Detective Conan are close behind. All four have higher viewer ratings than One Piece on an average week basis. (Source: videor.co.jp/ and Oricon)

Now One Piece is successful because of a single key factor which the other 4 shows have too. Adults. Almost 80% of Japanese adults read One Piece.

This is mainly because it started in 1997. Guess when DB/Z ended? 1995. It was a great time for people to ween off the DB/Z boat into a new series that has everything they ever wanted. Detailed art, the story of 'friendship/'nakama', tasteful females (sexy enough for guys but not too sexy which can turn away female readers. Fairy Tail has a problem with this which is why Japanese female readership is low.), and a wide variety of characters that are look significantly different from each other (no repeats of powers or appearances. Bleach and Fairy Tail and DB/Z are guilty of this.). It was a perfect formula for a perfect hit.

      And so it was.

One Piece rounded up a great fanbase which has stuck over the last 16 years. Naruto started 2 years too late and Bleach 4 years too late. Sure they acquired their fan-bases but they didn't snag all those floating people who just wanted 1 new series to get into. And they missed those young adults becoming adults. 2 to 4 years is enough for a young man to drop manga because it's "not cool/adult to read it anymore". One Piece got those people hooked before they went away from the scene. So they only kept up with One Piece and did not bother looking into new series that started 2 and 4 years later. And with Japan's population. That is a f*ck ton of possible people Naruto and Bleach lost to their fanbase.

And with adults roped into the fan-base...adults with jobs...adults with expendable income which can be funneled into the series=sales$$$.

So, altogether, this is why One Piece sells more than the others.

[And I just have to mention here that Fairy Tail is not that popular in Japan. It's not published in Shounen Jump and it's gotten quite the backlash for being a Rave Master re-make. Due to Mashima recycling and copying characters from his previous work. Its anime made the weekly top 10 chart maybe twice. And the manga is usually around the 30-slot for sales on the top 100 chart.]

  47. QUESTION:
I really want to be a model?
Well I'm 16 and according to people I have really good looks and good bone structure. And I have done shows for Dillard's and a ARTS modeling. But I really want a sponsor or agency to get my name out there but where I live there is nothing close to modeling It's a small town in west Texas and I have done all my work in El Paso. But traveling to El Paso is very expensive. Is there anywhere in west Texas like Odessa, midland, that does modeling?

    • ANSWER:
To become something or someone, it takes lots of money, fortitude and determination!

Modeling is not just the pretty face or the height.

Pay? .hr.
Check out America's Next Top Model, or SCOUTED so you can understand what goes on behind the modeling business. They own you top to bottom. Meaning, no if's, and's or but's.
You got 10,000 to one chance.

Google: Models are eating tissues to stay thin - ex-Vogue Editor - a good read. http://www.ibtimes.com/former-vogue-editor-reveals-models-are-eating-tissues-stay-thin-tell-all-book-1165223

I went to a poise & charm school, back in the 70's, and wasted my money because they didn't promise they'll give me a job, but I learned something from it. I learned how to be poise, presentable, and walk like a model, and that is not something you won't ever forget, to look like a model.

  49. QUESTION:
2012 - Why specifically the Mayan Calendar?
Why do we all say that the world ends on Dec 21, 2012 because that's when the Mayan Calendar ends? How come it is specifically the Mayans? What about Africans, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Roman, ETC...?

    • ANSWER:
An artist, José Argüelles, smoked pot and talked to spirits of ancient Mayans and they told him so. The spirits told him about the Mayan calendar ending and about the Mayan prophesy. As any clever artist he then sold his idea to the New Age community and spread it across the world. For many years he worked in relative silence, little fame came out of it, then he managed to hook up with History Channel and get at TV program about it aired there. People, of course, know that everything you see on TV is true and the interest for the Mayan Calendar exploded.

People went online to look for information about the Mayan Prophesy 2012 and they were greeted by several New Age based websites spreading "information" about José Argüelles' claim. Each site looked different, some more professional than others, but if you followed the sources mentioned you kept on coming back to one man and one man only, José Argüelles.
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Arg%C3%BCelles

Real scientists didn't eve bother commenting on it at first since it was all nonsense, but the claims kept on growing. More and more sites popped up, and with them came new claims and other "prophesies". In 2007 someone started a thread in a forum about all the disasters that would happen in 2012. There is no other source than the person who started the thread, but the claims spread over the internet as wild fire. It was in forums, in blogs and here on Y!A too. People, of course, knew that everything you read on the internet is true so the Mayan Prophesy had to be true.
      http://www.msghelp.net/showthread.php?tid=74463&page=1

As the 2012 hoax spread all over the world some film makers saw a chance to make money on it and in 2009 they aired the movie 2012. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_%28film%29

Then the scientists realized that people actually believed in the nonsense and they started to debunk the hoaxes, one by one. José Argüelles then backed on his claims. He no longer claims that the Mayans made a prophesy and that their calendar will end in 2012. Too many real scientists have proven him wrong and it would be stupid of him to stick to his initial claims. It's also about money of course. He's been making money on this since the 90's and now it's 2012. Changing his story will give him a chance to make money on it in 2013 and beyond too.

Okay, so I'm 15 years old and I'm only 161 cm or 5'3"
And i swim a lot, so im pretty fit
do you think i can do petite modelling?
I've been told that I'm pretty
Brown hair that looks redish and brown in the light with hints of gold
    and brown eyes

    • ANSWER:
No. Not all people who can swim, pretty, and tall can be a model. MANY models are actually ugly. Kate Moss a good example, when she was discovered @ 16. Have you seen America's Next Top Model? Many of the girls there have skinny long legs, and they were teased for their height and people considered there ugly, in HS. When they win, who had the last laugh now?
