Movie Releases 2012

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are they releasing a movie about 2012 in 2009?
The new movie 2012 is coming out in 2009. Why? Wouldnt it make more money and alot more people would see it in 2012 when the world is "supposed" to end?

Do you think obama will see that movie?

    • ANSWER:
Thursday Aug 6th Stephen Colbert described the movie "2012" as the "one bright spot this summer", because the movie poster says "The Mayans warned us." Stephen says, "assuming they warned us that one day computer graphics would strip movies of any plot or characterization and turn them into mindless orgies of destruction porn."

Later, when the trailer shows Brazil being destroyed, he quips, "God is finally getting his revenge for their blasphemous waxing techniques"

What does the President's movie viewing habits have to do with anything. He is a pretty busy guy. Now, GW Bush might go see it if someone tells him there is a goat in it. He likes goats.

How does it feel knowing that Twilight won't start going away until 2013?
The last movie is released in 2012. ๐Ÿ˜›

    • ANSWER:
I am indeed sad faced and hurt....die twilight!!!

Has anyone think the upcoming movie 2012 is true?
I am sure the movie, 2012 will be somewhat great. However, this worries me, it has been known for centuries that the scholars predicted earth will end by December 21st, 2012. Already, Mother Nature has done & will continue to raise havoc on earth. Another big major factor is the current Nuclear testing which can prompt other countries to do the same thing. Now that is Scary!

    • ANSWER:
Yes, it's true. It was filmed in 2012 and after the world ended, Sonypictures came back in time and released the movie with three years to spare!

"Mother Nature has done & will continue to raise havoc on earth"

It's a beautiful day here, how about where you are?

"it has been known for centuries that the scholars predicted earth will end by December 21st, 2012"

Name one scholar or shut up.

"Another big major factor is the current Nuclear testing which can prompt other countries to do the same thing"

You should take a look at SW Nevada on Google Earth. THOUSANDS of holes from nuclear testing. YES, this made the Soviets VERY NERVOUS which made US very nervous. One pudgy Korean guy with a VERY BAD haircut and Liza Minelli sunglasses will NOT agitate the world too much.

Why are they releasing a movie about 2012 in 2009?
The new movie 2012 is coming out in 2009. Why? Wouldnt it make more money and alot more people would see it in 2012 when the world is "supposed" to end?

    • ANSWER:
Every marketing campaign (or hoax) has a natural peak. This whole end-of-the-world hoax about 2012 has been escalating since 2003. So if they left it much longer the truth (that there is NO scientific evidence supporting any of the ridiculous claims) will win and people will not be as anxious anymore.

What is new still not released marvel movie?
There is some marvel movie that will be released in 2012 i think.
Its combination of couple marvel movies like Thor,Captain America...
I am just wondering what is its name and what characters from what movies will be there?

    • ANSWER:
      The Avengers

At Comic-Con 2010, the full line up of Avengers was officially introduced. Those who will appear in the movie include Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Bruce Banner/The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Col. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).

AntMan, Wasp, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are not on the cast list.

In interviews, Tom Hiddleston (Loki) has stated that he will be the villain in the Avengers movie.

Has anyone noticed that the media presents most women as much better than men in movies, tv and commercials?
I mean is one thing to play it 50/50 but over the period of one hour, me and my friends played a game. Drink every time a commercial plays me as dumb or imbeciles or useless and/or women are posed as extraordinary and better. We finished 5 beers each. Almost every single commercial. Also I am talking about new commercials, tv or movies that were released in 2012 or later.

I know this is mostly for businesses to sell more but kids watch these commercials, tv shows and movies. I mean what is tv teaching them?
This upsets me because it is obviously not even close to reality.

    • ANSWER:
Part of the new world order agenda is to push gay culture onto the masses and to break up the family unit. Influence men to be stupid, pathetic and feminize them, encourage women to think they're better then men, be promiscuous, behave more like men. Force both parents to work due to the constantly growing cost of living expenses and thus spend less time influencing their children positively. The result of this? More future generations growing up in dysfunctional households who can be easily manipulated by the media. The media is a very powerful influence on many impressionable young people with a lack of positive guidance in their lives. A dumb, dysfunctional and spiritually devoid population is easier to control. Just look around you, its happening everywhere and right now.

Why are there two Snow White movies in 2012?
I've noticed same story movies released within a short period of time of each other many times, doesn't that split the revenue a bit? Armageddon and Deep Impact both involve meteors threatening life on Earth; Avatar and Battle for Terra were quite similar to each other as well;Friends with Benefits and No Strings Attached both released a few months apart and many others. Why is this, are the studios trying to outdo each other?

    • ANSWER:
I agree, Mirror Mirror, released in March & the second, Snow White & The Huntsman, coming out in June, are obviously two of the same basic story lines in one season. These film studios produce doppelgangers that are clearly copy-cats, giving the ga head for competitive reasons and non-original interpretations for the same exact theme they are fully aware of. Gauging present trends & demographics are also a factor since they wouldnโ€™t move forward unless there was a foundation, but generally these people spy on each other for short-cuts and have insidious reasons which include grudges. One-upmanship is not beyond the scope of these movers & shakers who regularly ride the wave of others ideas.

what movie or movies portray that the american dream gone?

Does it bug you at all that they are making Dr. Seuss books into movies?
I just found out they are making The Lorax into a movie to be released in 2012.

I think the movies (Horton Hears a Who in particular) really "cheapen" the book. What kid is going to read the book (albeit short) when they can turn their brain off and watch the movie, that has more humor and less thinking about real issues?

    • ANSWER:
I like the cartoon version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Of course Hollywood can barely come up with their own ideas for movies, so they always take from books and ruin them.

Like the movie, Memoirs of a Geisha, if you've read that. Half the things mentioned in the book weren't in the movie. And Pumpkin didn't get her name until Chiyo joined the house, but in the movie, they were already calling her Pumpkin when Chiyo arrived.
      Terrible, terrible, terrible.

I remember watching the cartoon version of the Lorax, but the book was better. ^_^

Is there going to be a new Godzilla movie?
I've heard talk about a movie that will be released in 2012 but is it true, and where is the story going to begin?I think it will begin after the 1998 movie(the one set in New York)because of the one last baby godzilla in the destroyed Madison Square Garden cracks through it's egg. What do you think?

    • ANSWER:
      Yes, in 2012, in 3D.

"On August 13, 2009 Legendary Pictures let slip that they have plans to do another American Godzilla movie, though it seems early discussions have begun and the movie will not be a sequel to the 1998 movie.[3]
It has recently been confirmed by Variety[4] that Legendary Pictures had acquired the rights to the character and that a new Godzilla movie is being planned for release in 2012. In addition to Legendary, producers on the new film will be Dan Lin, Roy Lee and Brian Rogers. Yoshimitsu Banno, Kenji Okuhira and Doug Davison will be the executive producers."

I have heard there is another Simpsons movie due for release in 2012. anyone got any details please?

When is the Kizumonogatari movie release?
It was suppose to be released in August last year (2012), but I have not heard anything about it. Which came first the movie or the egg? The offical website still has the trailer which is very vague and a 2012 release date, but nothing else. Does anyone know if it was postponed or even cancelled. The reason being is that Nekomonogatari: Kuro (Black) was released and that was a squeal of the movie and a prequel of the 1st show I believe. So it is just a little confusing if the movie's subsequent squeal comes before the actual movie was ever released. Just looking for any information or even thoughts on this.

    • ANSWER:
It was postponed to this year. It should be coming out this year but there hasn't been any exact release date.

But hopefully there should be an announcement of a release date soon, I mean its already bad enough that I'm going to have to wait 6-8 months after it actually comes out for it to be on the web and subbed.

What is up with all of the Alien movies this year and last year!? Hollywood hinting at something!?
    Cowboys & Aliens
    District 9
    Battle: LA
    Super 8
Upcoming movie: Battleship, releases in 2012 it's about aliens that are trying to destroy us and the US Navy fighting back. And many other movies that I didn't mention. With all of these ET/Alien movies do you think the mainstream media is hinting or trying to prepare us for something that will eventually happen!?

    • ANSWER:
Hollywood is hinting that they understand the short-term memory of the movie-going audience, and therefore can convince people such as yourself that movies about aliens are a new development.

I'd imagine that you haven't seen a movie made more than 10 years ago.

ADDED: It's also about marketing. If movies made about aliens were popular and grossed in a lot of sales the previous year (or production period) there will be more movies made about them in the hope of making even more money the next time around.

Why is the hobbit film being released so late?
On Wikipedia it says filming ended December of 2011 but it is going to be released December 2012,why is this so?

    • ANSWER:
FILMING ended December of 2011. There is a whole lot more to making a movie than filming it. Peter Jackson has made movies of this scale before, and he spent a year in post production for each LotR. He knows what he is doing, and he knows how long it will take.

Are American War propaganda movies a soft target of getting Oscar?
Many people said that "The Hurt Locker" won the Oscar because it promote the American propaganda of war against Iraq as they shown Explosive Ordnance Disposal team a hero and Iraq Civilians a protagonist who are responsible for all terror and anarchy in country. Now "Argo" which is based on the "Canadian Caper" that took place during the Iran hostage crisis in 1979 and 1980. They show the story of only six people who escape during the hostage but what about the rest of 52 people who were later safely released by the Iran Government? There are many movies released in 2009 and 2012 which are better than the Oscar winning movies of that years. According to some people U.S.A is a greedy nation who invaded Islamic nations in order to conquer oil and natural gases there and Academy and BAFTA Covering their dirt by rewarding such kind of movies. What do you think about it?

    • ANSWER:
You didn't mention the recent film 'Zero Dark 30' which, in my view, condones the illegal (and useless) torture of Islamic militants. It only won one Oscar for sound editing, but it seems to me that it was a propaganda piece.

Still, the USA is hardly unusual in that its film industry rewards films that reflect government propaganda or petty nationalist impulses. It's hard to see nationalist propaganda when you're born and brought up within it. That applies to all nations. The USA is simply the most powerful nation, so US propaganda and nationalism affects more people worldwide than the propaganda and nationalism of any other country.

Why is the movie, Branded, only showing in select theaters in the country?
The movie release date was September 7, 2012 but its not showing ANYWHERE near north florida.

    • ANSWER:
It is very simple. Movie theaters have to lease the films they show from the studios or distributor. They way it generally works is that for the first week of a film 70-80 percent of the ticket sale goes to the studio or distributor with which leaves 30-20 percent of the ticket sale for the theater.

Obviously a theater will go broke if they only sold tickets thus their real money is in selling concessions.

After the first week the percentages begin to even out to say 2nd week it becomes 60-40 split on ticket sales and 3rd week 50-50.

So how does this cause movies to be in limited release? Simply because 99% of theaters will loss money by simply showing it.

If a movie is not a big blockbuster it generally will not bring a lot of people so low concession sales thus theater losses money.

If a movie is not a big blockbuster it won't have staying power so it won't stick around long enough for the percentages to equalize thus theater losses money.

Studies have shown that audiences that see smaller interdependent films, avant-garde films, obscure films, foreign films tend to spend less on concessions so even if you do get a lot of people showing up concessions sales are likely to be low thus the theater losses money. Think about it is a theater going to sell more soda, popcorn and junk food to a couple of film hipsters or a family going to see "Finding Nemo" in 3-D? Luckily in some larger markets such as New York, Chicago, or LA you can have art house theaters that can show something like "Branded" and actually make money but the fact is that, like I stated, 99% of theaters simply look at the math and it does not favor independent films. Obviously the theaters in your area believe they know what best will attract an audience and "Branded" ain't it.

Every now and then a film such as "The Artist" for example will make such a hit in the art-house world that mainstream chain theaters will pick them up. But for that to happen a film like "Branded" will need a ton of good press and have a real "buzz" about it.

    BQ3: top 5 movie scenes of 2011?

    • ANSWER:
      Hello Kevin :)

      1. The greenhouse rape scene in Scum (1979). I actually can't watch this scene, or even listen to it. I've watched Scum soo many times, but only watched the rape scene once. I recently watched the film with someone who hadn't seen it before, and he wanted to watch the rape scene (not for weird reasons, understandably he just wanted to watch the movie as intended). I had to go downstairs and shut my living room door - I didn't want to see, hear or know. Especially when you consider what happens to Davis afterwards :( such a powerful, mesmorising movie. One of my favourites, but also the most upsetting scene I have seen (which rhymes!)

      2. The scene in The Elephant Man (1980) where the drunken, cruel mob burst into John Merrick's room in the hospital and scare, taunt and bully him. They treat him with such cruelty, it's horrible and surreal. It's made even worse by the fact that John Merrick was just gaining some confidence and a place in the world and society, they show him his own face in the mirror (something that was forbidden by the doctor up until that night) and it takes away all of his new found happiness and confidence. I find it terribly, terribly upsetting to watch. (P.S I know his name was actually Joseph Merrick, but in the movie he was called John...)

      3. The 'singing in the rain' rape in A Clockwork Orange (1971). Obviously rape scenes are never nice, but the way this is done makes it even more obscene. It's as though it's a jolly occasion, his singing is the ultimate insult. When he starts cutting open her clothes I actually feel physically sick.

      4. The scene in King Kong (2005) where King Kong and Naomi Watts are sliding around on the frozen pond together. I haven't seen this movie more than once, because it really, really upset me. I found the scene where they were sliding around so sad, because it was utterly tranquil and peaceful, they were laughing, smiling. And you knew what was about to happen and it was so unjust and cruel. My memory is a bit hazy of this scene because I've never trusted myself to watch the film again, it just upset me too much.

      5. The near-to-end scene in Martyrs (2008). The whole film is quite difficult to watch, due to it being absolutely effing gross, but one of the last scenes really takes some beating. *spoilers* for those who want to know....a girl is flayed alive. It's also a rare horror movie that actually makes you care about the main characters, which makes it all the more heartbreaking really.

BQ: I honestly don't know, hardly watched any new movies yet! Except The Woman in Black, which was just spooky fun.

My dad 1964 - Carry on Cleo.
      Me - 1985 - Clue
Not great choices, but not great years! Probably Carry on Cleo :)

      1. Attack the Block. Moses running back to his flat to blow up the aliens, the slow motion, the music, his arm was intense!
      2. X-Men: First Class. Magneto causing destruction in the bar (I concur, Rebellion!!)
      3. Captain America. When he first steps out of the machine. This is purely shallow of me. But WOWWWWWW.
      4. The Inbetweeners movie. The dancing scene!!!!!! I was crying with laughter when I saw this in the cinema :)
      5. The Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The "NOOOOOO!" scene. It was funny and great to see Draco Malfoy (or the actor who plays him anyway..) have that smug, self-satisfied, nasty little smile wiped off his face :)

Will the new Three Stooges movie be in black and white?
There is a Three Stooges movie in production right now with a tentative release date of 2012. But will the movie be in black and white? Will it be any good?

    • ANSWER:
Sorry to tell you but the company that is green lighting this movie is going under they are poor. This means that the movie can be set bacck for a while look at james bond we will not be seeing him for a long while. So if there is going to be a movie i doubt the black and white because later in the years the three stooges were in color.

I can't remember the name of the film and have been trying to look up the answer for a while. Does anyone know the name of this movie?

When will Calico Joe by John Grisham be produced into a movie?
I LOVE this book and I can't wait to see a film about it. I read an article dated back to June 2012 that said Chris Columbus' 1492 Pictures had bought the rights to make the film and that he was set to direct it. Any idea when more information will come of this, or more importantly, when the movie will be released? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I haven't been able to find a good date about a release for it. They say that it is in production, and I found one website that tentatively said in 2017, but that seems ridiculously far away.

How long does it take a movie just released to reach netflix?
Does Netflix stream recently released movies? For example if avengers is to be released in cinema's on the 19th of july 2012 how soon will netflix have it available to stream?
    Thanks in advance

    • ANSWER:
In general, major motion pictures do not become available to stream for up to 10 years because of first run rights that the premium channels have. Netflix has made a number of agreements to help with this problem. The most significant of these is the deal with EPIX. This arrangement grants Netflix access to titles from Lionsgate, MGM and Paramount 90 days after they arrive at EPIX. This translates to about 8-10 months after the movie is released in theaters. The Avengers is distributed by Paramount. I would not expect Netflix to have it before January of next year. They have also made deals for first run rights with DreamWorks, The Weinstein Company and FilmDistrict. Best Picture winner "The Artist" will be on Netflix immediately after its disc exclusivity period ends.

Who has seen the new movie 2012 that came out today in theathers?
Okay my question to you people is how does the movie end what happen who dies and like good details and best scenes in the movie

I don't care if you ruin the ending I not going to go see that movie anyways for personal reasons.

    • ANSWER:
Well, the boyfriend/character of Amanda Peet dies but she and the kids and John Cusack's character survive. Danny Glover (president) and Woody Harrelson's characters die.

In the end it's kinda like a Noah's Ark kind of theme. There were these huge ships that were built and a bunch of people make it on but one of the planks doesn't shut and when the tsunamis hit it knocks an ark loose which almost crashes into a mountain. I think those end scenes were probably the better ones but there was still lots of action and destruction. I liked it but I doubt it will sit on top of the box office for more than a week with a new Twilight movie being released next week.

Why do some big movies wait years before putting their movie in theaters when the movie is already complete?
I mean really, i heard it takes between 3 months for each movie to be completed and about 6 to 9 months for big movies to be completed, yet they won't put it the movie for maybe 2 to 3 years later. Aww, what is up with that? Put it in the big movie theaters when completed. Why the long wait for big movies? Does any notice that and hate that? Why the prolong tease?

    • ANSWER:
Every part of a movie is financed by someone. A huge amount of money goes into making the film and then editing it and promoting it. It took almost 2 years for Cameron to edit AVATAR. Big blockbuster movies take time to be made.
In many instances the director has the final say on which cut will be released. Often times the studios want to see a different ending than the way the director cut the movie. In that case there are law suits between directors and studios which causes the studios to wait even longer-till the lawsuit is settled. With several movies the studios went out of business and no one really knew who owned or would distribute the movie. Sometimes the studios see how bad the movies are when finished and don't want to release them and waste even more money on them. Three recent movies come to mind The Beaver with Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster was made 4 years ago. The studios didn't release it because of all the bad publicity Mel Gibson was getting in his personal life. EAT PRAY LOVE sat unreleased for a long time. Right now there is a movie being released in a few weeks called 'FIREFLIES IN THE GARDEN".It stars Ryan Reynolds and Julia Roberts. It was completed in 2008 but the studios hated it so much they held it back4 years to mid-Novembe 2011.
Studios are also very aware of scheduling. The schedule for 2012 up thru next Christmas 2012 is already figured out. No studio wants to open their big expensive blockbuster on the same weekend some other big major blockbuster is being released by a different studio. Evert studop hopes to have at least 2 weeks where their movie can be no.1. It's all very political and is driven by studio greed.
What would happen if they released 20 movies you really really really wanted to see and they released them all on Thanksgiving day ? How many would you/could you see ? Thats why the studios slowly release their films over a long time period. They want no competition from other good movies. They love to put out the trailers EARLY so people will keep getting more and more excited to see the movie once it is finally released/ Many times a movie trailer will be released 8 months before the movie opens.

How do you get tickets to go to the red carpet premiere of a movie as a fan?
I don't want any negative comments. I want to go to the last Twilight movies which is called Breaking Dawn next year. I am a huge fan and really want to go the the premiere where they do the red carpet and all the stars show up.

How do I come about this? I want to start planning now if I have too.

I am a huge fan of them all so I must go! :)

    • ANSWER:
First, you can't get tickets (to go inside the theatre), but fortunately you don't need tickets to stand outside with the fans and watch the red carpet arrivals.

That is free. All you have to do is show up early and wait.

However, in the case of Twilight, that's more difficult than it sounds. For most premieres, you wait an hour or two. But Twilight fans are crazy, and show up days in advance, literally camping outside the theatre in tents.

So, if you want a good viewing spot for the final premiere, you'll have to do the same thing. Find someone else (some friends, your mother, whatever) who is willing to go through it, show up days in advance at the Nokia Theatre (near downtown L.A.) and be prepared for a very long wait with a lot of other crazy fans.

They will hand out wristbands to those who camp out, so that when it comes time to tear down the tent city (to make way for the actual premiere), you'll be insured a decent spot to watch from.

The exact date of the premiere isn't known yet, but it should be about a week before the movie's release date (which is Nov. 16, 2012). Keep an eye on this Calendar of Events for the actual date, when it is announced.

What are some good movie editing software?
I want to make a video for youtube and it'll involve a lot of different videos which will need to be trimmed. My laptop is an Acer with Windows 7, so it came with 'Windows Live Movie Maker'. I do use that as its simple, but it's too simple. I want a software where there's lots of different editing options ect.

Do you know any good editing software you can download for free without any virus's?

    • ANSWER:
This year has seen the release of two very good freeware editors, FileLab and VSDC. FileLab is a good step above WLMM. VSDC is even more advanced.

FileLab is a freeware video editing program for just about all platforms (Mac, PC, etc...). I use it a lot to make YouTube videos. It runs in your browser using a simple plug-in download. It's also available as a free app on Facebook. It has many transition and video effects, very good title editor, and customized color correction to include brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, and gamma. Both of these FileLab YouTube tutorials were made with FileLab

VSDC is also freeware, but has much more advanced capabilities than FileLab, such as green screen! It's not as obvious or easy to use as FileLab, but did I already mention it has green screen (chroma key), and it's free? Also, it is capable of editing in most most popular video formats and compression schemes including high definition (HD), AVI, H.264, MP4, MKV, MTS, 3GP, WMV, QT, MP3, MPEG2 FLV, SWF. YouTube. Get it now while it's free because eventually this will go payware. And here are two tutorials on using VSDC

and more info on these and other "no-kidding" freeware editors may be found here:

How has global warming become a character in movies?
How has global warming become a character in movies not an actual character that is?

    • ANSWER:
Movies have a long history of taking the issue of the day and exaggerating it to sell seats to the general public whether it was evil Germans in the 40s evil Russians in the 50s evil Vietnamese in the 70s today global warming is an issue and there are a number of Hollywood movies playing on that to "The Day After Tomorrow" being the main example while there were a few elements of truth most of it was over the top nonsense and I'm sure the soon to be released 2012 will be more of the same (but bigger and louder) these are meant to be fun anyone who takes them seriously or tries to use them as part of the debate on global warming is wound a little to tight.

What is the movie called where a man is frozen and then he awakes in the future?
I believe the man is frozen for some reason I cannot remember. THen, he wakes up in the year 2012, I believe

    • ANSWER:
      I believe it DEMOLITION MAN.

      here is the plot :
John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone) is your stereotypical super-cop who is sent into the burning war zone of 1999 Los Angeles (OK, so the movie got dated a bit quickly), where he must rescue some hostages taken by mad criminal Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes). Spartan captures Phoenix, but Phoenix manages to frame him for the mass murder of the hostages. Both men are sentenced to life imprisonment frozen forever in suspended animation.

Cut to forty years later. Los Angeles has become a new society (with many a wink and nod to Aldous Huxley's BRAVE NEW WORLD) in which violent behavior is completely unknown and human relations are strictly controlled to eliminate drugs, alcohol, unhealthy food, swearing, and even sex! (I guess the population is maintained by artificial insemination). Suddenly, by some strange act of sabotage, Simon Phoenix is released. The 21st century police, are, to put it mildly, unprepared to deal with a 20th-century criminal. At the suggestion of policewoman Lenina Huxley (Sandra Bullock) John Spartan is thawed out and sent to catch Phoenix again.
