  4. QUESTION:
What Service offers the best movie streaming experience?
Well, basically what I'm asking is what streaming provider (or service) has the best catalog of movies and is always updated with the newest films.. Would be nice if it also included movies that were recently released on DVD.. I have Netflix currently and I mainly use it for watching shows like Family Guy, South Park, or Anime and some occasional movies since we all know Netflix's movie lineup is mediocre to say the least.. I plan on keeping them but that's the general idea. Any streaming service like netflix, hulu, crackle etc.. have the service i want?

  5. QUESTION:
Is streaming a movie in HD just as good as watching it on Blu ray?
If you watch a series on Netflix in HD or another similar streaming service is it just as good/better than watching it on blu ray or does something about the streaming diminish the quality (compression etc)?

    • ANSWER:
The streaming services do use compression so it is not as good as the true, un-compressed 1080 video you get from a BluRay.

The streaming services assume the average user has a 24" computer monitor so the compression is not usually visible. Try the streaming on a 40+ inch television or a front projector - then you might see some compression artifacts.

  6. QUESTION:

I personally never rent out DVDs. I just use netflix's streaming service to watch movies online and it actually became cheaper to watch movies online ever since they changed their monthly rates. That's awesome.

So, why do so many people b*tch about it?

    • ANSWER:

  8. QUESTION:
How do I make an online movie channel?
I wanna make my own online movie channel (streaming old grindhouse horror films, kung-fu films, etc), and I have the means to start it up by streaming the movies live over the internet. Now:

    1) What would I do to secure rights to the movies to show them? Does it require exuberant amounts of money, or does it depend on the distributor?

And 2) What website/server could I use to run my movies on? Can anyone recommend a good one?

    • ANSWER:
Going to sound harsh, but if you have to ask how to do this on yahoo answers, you're not equipped for the task.

Firstly, you'd need a team of people to operate the thing. Everything from the massive servers and bandwidth that is needed, to the lawyers who would deal with the legal side of things, to the computer science technicians who would keep the software running smoothly to the office workers who would keep the financial and customer service side of things working.

Plus something like this doesn't just suddenly get started. The internet is massive and new sites don't get started without marketing...and marketing costs money unless you're absurdly clever (and patient) with getting things started virally. So you'd probably have to spend tons of money on advertising .

Sure, it's not impossible...but like I said, if you have to ask on yahoo answers, you obviously don't have connections in the business. Start with something smaller and try to work your way up with project size.

  9. QUESTION:
Does Netflicks offer more titles by mail or streaming?

What services are there that offer movies streaming to your TV?
We currently have Netflix that we use through our wii to watch movies and tv shows. We really like this service but we're wondering what other options there might be out there. Are there any others using the Wii? And if not do the others require any other equipment?

    • ANSWER:
There is apple itunes, Amazon Video streaming, Hulu.

If you get the PlayOn server (), you can use it for Netflix, YouTube, Amazon, and Hulu and stream to the Wii.

For itunes, you need an Apple TV.

  11. QUESTION:
Is there a video streaming service with a larger selection than Netflix?
I have a streaming only account with them, WILL NOT be getting the DVD option. Netflix is cool and all but, their streaming selection is really limited IMO. Lots of "B movies" and documentaries. A lot are good, just, I wish there was more. Does anyone know of a similar service that has a larger selection of movies and TV shows?

    • ANSWER:
Amazon Instant Video has much more than Netflix but for most of it you have to pay per movie. They do have Amazon prime but that doesn't give you everything.

  12. QUESTION:
Why does netflix streaming service have rubbish movies?
I only want it for the bludclart streaming. Why dont they have new movies?
Good job they give you a free trial!

Because those are the only movies that the film companies are willing to give them rights to. They are not going to license new films to Netflix. Then no one will buy the DVD.

I tried to find where to watch Argo 2012 full movie online stream at putlocker but when I tried the stream it kept freezing, very anonying let me tell you. Then it said on the screen that this website can't use our service anymore because they are blocking ads and the bitrate bandwidth exceeds the permitted amount!
Does any know why this is happening to me? Is anyone else experiencing this?

    • ANSWER:
Don't know about you but stop using putlocker, it is full of crap and not the HD quality you can find at a good site like below.

  15. QUESTION:
When Netflix switches in September will they show the good movies on streaming or keep it the same content?
Seems that to get the quality movies you have to get those by mail. I'm just trying to decide if I should stick with the mail service or go streaming. Thanks all!

    • ANSWER:
No the streaming will be the same.

The reason why Netflix cannot offer most movies for streaming ha to do with the Movie Production companies. Basically they think that Netflix does not charge enough for streaming content. That is why HBO does not allow their original programming to be "streamed". That is why first run movies or very popular movies are not available for streaming. So basically the only way to get better streaming content is for Netflix to make a deal with the production companies and start charging folks 20 bucks a month to stream or for the production companies will have to accept that 8 bucks a month is the best deal they will get for streamed content.

How to stream movies from your computer to a remote computer?
i want to stream movies from my home computer to any remote computer and with friends over the internet how can i do this?

    • ANSWER:
Can't be done on your own I afraid.

You would need the services of a conferencing network which is quite expensive
and you would need sufficient bandwidth to supply it as well.

Your ISP would also start getting a bit stroppy about it too!

  19. QUESTION:
What internet speed should I have to watch movies online?
I want to watch streaming movies with ease, but don't want to pay for more speed than I need. Whats the best speed for me?
    What is FIOS?

A 512 kbps is a good speed connection and affordable if on budget.

Although recently the broadband tariffs have come down substantially so a 1mbs & above is recommended connection you can go with it. It would be a pleasure to watch movies and download files at these speed without having to wait till your hair turns gray in any connection lower than this.

  20. QUESTION:
Will I be able to use Kindle Fire for Netflix and hulu?
I am looking at getting a Kindle Fire but want to know if it will work with streaming services such Netflix and Hulu. Does anyone have any input on this?

    • ANSWER:
Hi, Susan, think about it - Amazon is reported to loose up to on each Kindle Fire in hope to make that back and then some on selling you movies and apps. Would you think Amazon will allow their movie streaming competitors into their subsidized device? Of course not! Also, here's other facts about Kindle Fire you might want to consider:
      - Kindle Fire doesn't have microSD slot that, for example, Nook Color has thus it is stuck with 6 GB usable internal storage unlike Nook Color that can get up to 32 GB card in. Kindles are made to be almost like a "dumb terminal" of the past to make sure you're tied up to Amazon's storage on the web (for which you need Wi-Fi connection to get to) and you can only store content you get from Amazon there, not other files. Quoting Amazon on Kindle Fire: "Free cloud storage for all Amazon content". Get it, Amazon content?
      - The stats of how long the battery can last (Kindle Fire theory is 7.5 hours) are taken with Wi-Fi off. It will last only about 3 hours if you use it to access content from their Cloud storage over Wi-Fi.
      - Amazon can spy on your web activity through their new cloud-integrated web browser of Kindle Fire.
      - VERY IMPORTANT – lack of microSD slot means that if you decide to root your Kindle Fire, you’ll have to root the actual device thus there will be no coming back. On Nook Color, you can make it boot from a “rooted” microSD card and if you want to get back to the original Nook you can just take out the card and reboot.
      - Kindle Fire doesn't have a camera.
      - Kindle Fire has about 70% less usable screen area than iPad 2.
      - Kindle doesn't support eBooks in ePub format that is the most used format in the world.
      - Kindle app store contains only Amazon approved apps and it does not include (and will not include) Netflix app that iPad has and Nook Color is getting thus again you're stuck with Amazon content only.
      - Amazon confirmed that you cannot download/stream anything to Kindle Fire when traveling outside US.
      - Amazon says it will review every app in its Appstore for Fire compatibility, as part of an automated process. Rejected apps will include those that rely on a gyroscope, camera, WAN module, Bluetooth, microphone, GPS, or micro SD. Apps are also forbidden from using Google's Mobile Services (and in-app billing), which, if included, will have to be "gracefully" removed. In terms of actual content, Amazon has outlawed all apps that change the tablet's UI in any way (including theme- or wallpaper-based tools), as well as any that demand root access.
      - I'd recommend waiting for Nook Color 2 that is rumored to be released by Barnes & Noble shortly.

  24. QUESTION:
what is the best way to stream movies on a ps3?
I have Netflix but am thinking of getting rid of it and getting a different service with more selections or adding another service to watch TV shows. I know that netflix works but what some other good companies or sites that work on the PS3? Do Hulu and Amazon work? I don't have the PS3 yet and am not an experienced user so I need something relatively easy to figure out haha.

    • ANSWER:
PS3 only supports Hulu Plus. I haven't yet found a set-top box that supports plain old Hulu unfortunately.

However, I've been using TVersity Pro on my PC to send a stream to the PS3.

TVersity basically takes any form of media and just streams it to your PS3, 360, or other set-top box. It will re-encode the data into a format that your device can understand. This is great since the PS3's video support is pretty small.

To use TVersity, you will need a PC, a PS3, and a fast home network. I do not recommend using the PS3's wireless adapter. Its antenna is not very good, and has trouble getting a strong signal from the router compared to my (ancient) laptop that's in the same room. A weak signal will cause problems hiccups with streaming. I used to get problems with TVersity and the PS3 until I put the PS3 on a wired connection. Much better.

You will install TVersity on your PC and use it as your media server. The PS3 will detect TVersity automatically and display any media TVersity knows about. For instance, I added some shows to my queue on Hulu. Then I added my Hulu account to TVersity. Bam. Now the PS3 can see my Hulu queue. I select play and after a few seconds, the show starts up.

Not bad for . The free version of TVersity does everything but allow you to add internet sources, so you'll probably want to get the Pro version like I did.

  25. QUESTION:
How media streaming players and streaming work?
I'm looking into buying a media player box to properly play the movies and shows I have sitting on my hard drive. I notice all the models I look at have "streaming" as a feature. I know streaming as in from a website to my computer, but how does this work with my TV and TV shows? Is it just referring to services like Netflix?

    • ANSWER:
      Yes this is confusing.

Most of them mean 'streaming services' but others mean you can surf your PC hard drive wirelessly and play the media files it can find. Look at the WD TV Live box for example.

  28. QUESTION:
What is the best online service for watching American television while overseas?
I'm moving overseas and want to be able to log on and watch cable TV, DVR shows etc, via the internet. I've seen a few online services that use a slingbox type setup where you pay a monthly fee and they set everything up stateside and give you a logon. Has anyone ever used one of these or have any experience with these?

    • ANSWER:
Don't pay. You can go to ovguide.com and type in any shows and it'll search and find. Also, Sidereel dot com is good 'cause they will even track your shows for you. Once the show is tracked you will see the "main links" (Amazon, ITunes) where you can bbuy the episodes or movies. But right under those links is a button that says "other links" or something similar.
Click that and then you can watch on megavideo or other streaming free links. Megavideo "times out" after 72min of watch time per day, but you can get around that by either working offline after it is streamed or resetting your router box. Megavideo will try to make you pay once the timer is up, but, again, unplug your modem and reset it. All done.
The sites are all streaming so you do not have to download, but there are other streaming sites like divxden that have all kinds of stuff but you just have to download their divx player. Your spyware will go "NOOO!" but it's really not a deal. Just adware, which you remove later.

      Good luck. Enjoy.

Is there anything illegal about streaming movies over a service like Skype screen sharing?

  30. QUESTION:
Where can i download old VHS movies from the internet?
My grandmother has a lot of old vhs movies that she wants to convert to DVD. However, our recorder recently broke, so she wasn't able to transfer them. I hope to be able to easily download them from the internet and just burn them to a disk. Anyone here got an answer to help me?

    • ANSWER:
Legally, it doesn't matter that you have them as VHS.

Being copyrighted works, they are available on the same basis as the rest of the movies, mostly you subscribe to a streaming service, or buy/rent downloads, any of them with no right to burn to DVD.

You having the VHS copies entitles you to nothing, except to watch those tapes.

  39. QUESTION:
How do the satellite company dish manage my service?
I just scheduled my trial on movies channels to end tomorrow. (There nice, just can't afford them with my budget. ) now they offers me some more options but I still could not afford them.
How do they cancel or activate specific channels to my box? I don't have a phone line hooked to it.  I don't think that they can direct all those frequencies only to me.. Or can they?  Maybe, by new box or card has a timed trial built in and if I where to not make any changes it will just time out anyway so there was no need to have it canceled?  I can add them in the future, do they send me a new card?

    • ANSWER:
They send an update to your card through the satellite stream, telling it to block those channels for you. You're right that they can't stop the signal, but they can prevent your box from showing it to you.

  41. QUESTION:
About how much does it cost to get an external modem and internet service for a computer?
I have a mac laptop that is about eight years old. It does not have wireless service or a place to plug in a wireless chip. A couple of the arrow keys are also missing. I am trying to decide whether or not I should try to get internet service for this computer or if I should just buy a different inexpensive computer that can get on the internet wirelessly. Thank you!

    • ANSWER:
With that, all you can probably do is connect using the LAN cable. If you're not planning to do much, it will probably do. The thing is, the newer laptops even the one for about 300'ish, can do a lot more when you do get online. Like watch streaming movies, play some games when your board, or handle Photoshop or MS Office for your schooling or hobby needs. Plus, it's WIFI so you can connect at most public places like your school, etc.

An external modem depends on the internet service, DSL or cable. eBay has used ones for cheap. Internet service depends on your area. I would recommend, getting the slowest speed and if it is too slow, ask the rep to upgrade the speed. Most of them will let you upgrade for free, without a penalty to the contract, but downgrading will extent most contract. Good luck.

  42. QUESTION:
How long does it take for Netflix to get new movies?
I just started a free trial for netflix on my Wii. I was wondering how long it takes for them to get new movies. Does anyone know how long after the release date does it take to get it on netflix?

    • ANSWER:
Netflix is at the mercy of the entertainment companies who own the copyrights of the films. So - to answer your question, it all depends on how greedy the entertainment company is, and how potentially lucrative the film is. They make the least amount of money from streaming services and free television networks.

Instead of changing their business model, these entertainment companies tried to get the U.S. government to establish unpopular laws like SOPA to protect them from piracy. But really, it is the entertainment companies who have business models which cause pirates to spring up. The best way to end piracy is to make nice with streaming services like Netflix.

  43. QUESTION:
What is the relationship between out of sync streaming and memory?
when watching netflix on my computer the movie is always out of sync. lots of buffering. Would a memory increase solve this problem

    • ANSWER:
Memory (RAM) will increase the performance very well! It also has something to do with your overall PC speed.

Also, it may have something to do with your internet speed from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Getting a faster connection will improve the performance as well.

If you could post your computer specs, I'll let you know what I recommend for upgrading to get it so you're happy with the movies. My website is in the sources below. There are ways to contact me on there.

  44. QUESTION:
How long after the initial DVD release of a movie is it streamed on Netflix?
I read that when movies are initially released on Netflix they are DVD/DVD & Blu Ray only for a period of time, without the ability to stream it from your computer or PS3/Xbox. How long is the waiting period between being able to order the DVD and being able to stream? I am looking into getting Netflix, but I think I'll be streaming from my PS3 more often than ordering the DVDs through the mail.

    • ANSWER:
I also thought this when i started up my netflix account, and my advice is to exploit the free trial offer for the first month and see if you like it. I also have a ps3 and i use it very often to stream movies. The thing is if you aren't huge into movies then you may not be using this service as much as i do. A majority of the movies that you can select for instant streaming are either old 80's movies or a ton of indie films with limited mainstream movie selection. I have seen quite a bit of really good indie films through this service, and they also have some classics like the usual suspects and the big lebowski, but if you are more into a mainstream movie experience then you may not use it as much as you would like. That being said, they get the dvds and blu-rays to you so quickly you'd think a dvd wizard placed them in your mailbox overnight lol. So you may end up using that service more than you originally anticipated.

  45. QUESTION:
How do you upload a Windows Movie Maker video to YouTube?
When I pick File>Save to my Computer my Windows Movie Maker closes down. I have tried it multiple times and it still doesn't work. Any help please?

    • ANSWER:
Once you're happy with your final result, you'll need to save the video in a format that YouTube can accept in order to upload. Unless you're a professional video producer, we recommend that you save your videos as either QuickTime .MOV, Windows .AVI, or .MPG files— these are the most common formats and they work well within our system. We specifically recommend the MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format at 640x480 resolution with MP3 audio. Resizing your video to these specifications before uploading will help your clips look better on YouTube.

So there some good converter u will be used: Moyea Video Converter
      http://www.my-video-converter.com/video_converter/

Two ways for you to upload the video.
      1. If your phone supports RTSP streaming and your service carrier allows streaming videos, you can create an account at http://www.youtube.com/my_profile_mobile and then upload it via via MMS. You can also view YouTube video by typing "m.youtube.com" on your phone. However, you will be charged for data use.
      2. Copy the video from your phone to your computer, and create an account at http://www.youtube.com/ and then you can upload the video.

  46. QUESTION:
Anyone out there getting streaming satelite tv on there pc?
With all the good channels like hbo, espn, movie chanells, sci fi
    ect....

Or is it all a scam?
If you are getting it, what is the website to get it?

    • ANSWER:
There is no way to get these channels free!!! Period. End of discussion. Any free offer, or a one time fee of .99, is a scam. Why in the world would people be paying cable or satellite fees of up to 0/month, or more, for this service if they could get it free?

  47. QUESTION:
How can I use a service similiar to Netflix in the UK?
I am more interested in streaming American TV shows, such as Chuck, Dexter, Arrested Development etc, rather than the movie aspect, which I am aware is available through services such as Lovefilm. I was wondering if anybody knows of any service to do this?

    • ANSWER:
It would have to be a service associated with the UK licensees of those programmes at the very least.

No legitimate service would exist to get around the rights of the UK channels that own those rights.

  48. QUESTION:
Why most good movies in Netflix are only available in DVD?
I have an account with Netflix for streaming movies on my PC or TV. I'm very happy with the service, but why most of the good movies I'd like to see are only available in DVD? I'd like to ask Netflix but there's no options available for questions in their web site.

    • ANSWER:
Not every movie and TV show is available for Instant Streaming. Netflix has to buy the rights to stream the movies and TV shows they have and can't just play everything. They could be sued for copyright infringement and other things if they did.

      Sorry:(

  49. QUESTION:
How many devices can you stream netflix on at the same time?
How many devices can you stream at the same time like netflix computer tv and all that. I heard that you can only stream 3 at a time. Also is there a limit on how many devices you can have on hooked up on one account.
I mean how many can you watch at the same time like if 5 people all used netflix on xbox at the same time from the same account is that possible?

    • ANSWER:
You can have up to six devices activated on your account. Officially, streaming only users are allowed to stream simultaneously on two devices. Some users have been getting booted off when they attempt to do so. I have never had this problem. I have streamed over 100 hours simultaneously in the last two months. It is easy to get different answers depending on how you contact Netflix. @Netflixhelps on Twitter tells people that you can only stream to one device at a time. Phone customer service will either confirm that or say you can do a two at a time depending on which rep you speak to. I suggest you try it for yourself and see what happens.

      From the Terms of Use:

YOU MAY INSTANTLY WATCH ON UP TO SIX UNIQUE AUTHORIZED NETFLIX READY DEVICES. YOU WILL BE ALLOWED TO INSTANTLY WATCH SIMULTANEOUSLY ON ONLY ONE SUCH DEVICE AT ANY GIVEN TIME. Jimobasa: I mean watching it on PC from their website. I'm not referring to any illegal activity. I've already read the subscription plan.
