  2. QUESTION:
What is a list of things that i should bring to Hawaii?
I am going to Lahaina, Hawaii in may, 2012. Me and my friend, both 13 years old, and our parents, both about 45 years old. Besides the obvious things to being, bras, underwear, toiletries, etc. What are some things i should bring. I know i want to bring adress, but where can i get one pretty cheap. And where should i get cute sandals. And what color swimsuit, and any more information would be awesome. :) thank you so much!

    • ANSWER:
take some casual clothing with you also, sometimes it can get a little cold at night. i dont bring bras to hawaii, i just use my swimsuit tops, but that is just me. i never been to lahaina, i always go to waikiki, but they have ABC stores pretty much all over hawaii, and they sell some cute dresses and they are cheap. for the swimsuit issue, get one that you like, but bring two. have enough film and memory card for you camera. Goodlcuk on your vacation and enjoy

  3. QUESTION:
What is the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed film ever?
I know Avatar is the highest grossing film, but it isn't the very best. I know The Godfather is one of the best ever, but it's didn't make the most money. Also, DVD sales count, too when it comes to being commercially successful, not just what they made in theaters. Thanks for the answers.

    • ANSWER:
Citizen Kane is usually considered the best by critics. I prefer Casablanca and The Godfather which often come in second and third. Kane was groundbreaking and very influential. Movies like Avatar may make unlimited amounts of money but adding 3D to Pocahontas shouldn't make the movie "good".
I believe AMC or the like will have a list of top 100 movies of all time according to a wide criteria which answers the first part. As for the second, it looks like Avengers (2012) will be the one.

  4. QUESTION:
Where can I find a full list of upcoming movies?
I'm a film major and I like seeing as many films as possible. Anyone know where I can find a full list of films that are coming out? Wikipedia has a decent list on its "2012 in film" page (or whatever year you want to search), but I'm noticing that they are missing a lot of lesser known titles, including many films being screened at film festivals (like Sundance). Can anyone help me out?

  6. QUESTION:
How do the film awards work?
Im doing a research project on the film 2012, and one of the information I need to provide are the award film nominations and the awards the films won. I was just wondering if the movie already received any film awards and if they are given when the movie comes out or is there a set date..? thanks in advanced! :)

    • ANSWER:
The Oscars and Golden Globes are the two main film awards. Those are usually nominated in like February. The only other ones are when movies are entered in film festivals, but 2012 was such a high budget movie it wouldn't have been in one of those.

And it's not going to be nominated for anything but Best Special Effects. I think it might help to not talk about awards when talking about the movie 2012.

If / when it gets nominated for awards, they will be listed here:
      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1190080/

  7. QUESTION:
How to find good independent films?
I like to watch the more academic of the TGWTG reviewers, particularly the Nostalgia Chick. I also have gotten into and have really taken a liking to some of the independently released films that she has suggested. My favorite probably being "Sita Sings The Blues".

And it has really gotten me interested in film. Although I do not plan on taking a career in that. But I'd love to search more into different indie flicks. I just don't know how to find out all about that or get started or find out about new films. Can can someone help me on this?

    • ANSWER:
      Here are some indie films:

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0190332/
      - Great film from Ang Lee, the guy who have directed the recently released Life Of Pi.

      The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0265666/
      - One of the best indie films from the 2000s made by Wes Anderson who also have made Moonrise Kingdom (2012) which is also a terrific indie film.

      Pan's Labyrinth (2006) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457430/
      - The very best indie film I know, a masterpiece.

Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2125435/
      - Haven't seen this one yet, but earlier today when the Oscar nominations were announced, this indie film was nominated for 5 Oscars including Best Picture!

You can also check out this link:
      http://listverse.com/2007/10/23/top-15-indie-films/
      - Eternal Sunshine on The Spotless Mind (2004) is the best film on that list in my opinion.

      Hope this helped you out!

How long does it take for Indie films to come out on dvd?
Or maybe even blu-ray. There is a movie called "Le Havre" that i really want to see. It was shown at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival and based on what i read about it, i think it might be good. Also do films like these even come out on home media, or are they just shown on the big screen and retired after that.

    • ANSWER:
Le Havre was a GREAT movie.
It was released in October 2011 and ended up on many critics 'Best movies of 2011' lists.
It usually takes a movie 6 months to reach DVD after it's theatrical release.
I just checked....... videoeta.com ........ for it and it has a tentative DVD release date of some time in April 2012.

  11. QUESTION:
What are good Science Fictions movies are there; preferably ones which are in a series?
I like films like the Matrix trilogy and Terminator. I was wondering if there were any good science fiction films (preferably in some sort of series / trilogy so that I can get into it) that there is to watch. 12. QUESTION:
What kind of films do you wish would stop coming out?
I love a good zombie and vampire film, don't get me wrong; but it's become a very obnoxious trend for filmmakers to make a movie about:
    vampires
    zombies
    werewolves
the best friends who becomes the lover
    talking animals
    a governmentally-targeted citizen
white women "saving" poor, uneducated minority students

    video game characters

Vampires and natural disaster movies like Armageddon, The Day After, 2012, Twister the list continues

Also those stupid comedies like Meet the Spartans, Scary Movie, The Date Movie etc etc etc. They are not funny at all and highly unoriginal. They are clones of Naked gun and the hotshots movies in terms of humor. It was funny then but now they are overdoing it.

What i would like to see more of are superhero movies from DC Comics and Marvel. I can never get enough of those.

    • ANSWER:
I hope you don't mind if I do mine in alphabetical order. 2012 was a strong year for movies and it's way too hard to rank them in a way that I am completely satisfied. Also I did not see all the movies you did, I do not live in a city where a lot of foreign films come, I luckily got to see Holy Motors though and I loved it. I have not gotten see Amour or a lot of the other foreign films on your list. Also I didn't see Zero Dark Thirty yet (but it opens tonight in my city so I will this weekend). Anyway, here is my list:

      Argo
      Beasts of the Southern Wild
      The Dark Knight Rises
      Django Unchained
      End of Watch
      Holy Motors
      Looper
      Moonrise Kingdom
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
      Silver Linings Playbook

      Honorable Mentions:
      The Avengers
The Master (I love PTA but this movie is not my favorite of his but it was still close to being in my top 10).
      Safety Not Guaranteed
      Seven Psychopaths
      Safety Not Guaranteed

By the way I did see Lincoln, Les Miserables, and Life of Pi which people have been raving about but I didn't care for them too much.

  25. QUESTION:
Are you buying into the recent propaganda push to get us militarily involved in Africa?
BS! That KONY 2012 came out then George Clooney showed up getting arrested and all the BS!

Shove the propaganda up you ya-hoooooo!
I said get involved in AFRICA... that's a continent ya freaking Shara Palin wanna-be liberal.

    • ANSWER:
Feel free to keep posting here; the backlash from those of us SICK of the constant spamming campaign probably drove the producer of the campaign to wander in his underwear, masturbating and beating the pavement until he was arrested. You give us a chance to respond and end this farce.

Kony is the object being used to create a scam.
"Kony" needs to be a word you cannot post on Yahoo! Answers.

Every time you post a question about this, you are being used.
Someone needs to list each of the members of this group and post them, publicly, so that people can decide if they EVER want ANY of them working for them again. The ethics of this group are HIGHLY questionable based on their behavior.

They are making money on the kits.
They paid themselves MASSIVE salaries for doing the video.
They are making money on the advertising on various sites including YouTube.
They are making money on sites AGAINST KONY 2012 that they create.
They are making money and you folks are the suckers EVERY time you start a post.
They are making money in all directions - this is a well-thought out scam. You are being used.
THEY MAKE MONEY RESELLING THEIR OWN KITS AFTER SAYING THEY WERE SOLD OUT!

      DON'T buy the kits.
      DON'T watch the video.
DON'T post questions or posts about it except to answer posts with "Stop posting about this scam".
DON'T participate except to shame the scammers.

      The movement is under investigation.
Don't watch the video, you just end up giving money to them for the advertising funds they receive and the scam goes on. You are being used for even that.

Please, everyone, stop posting about this. You're being used. There are more than 400 open questions about Kony on this site. They are USING you.

And if you are spamming for them, thank you for giving us the forum for ANSWERING with the facts. It will not work, we are on to you.

If Kony 2012 hadn't spammed us all to death with this garbage, they wouldn't be facing this.

We're SO tired of them. NOBODY post any question about KONY.
DO respond to every single one telling them to SHUT UP!

We're being scammed and spammed, massively. You should all respond and let people know every time they post this nonsense.

The video lies and distorts multiple issues.
      http://visiblechildren.tumblr.com/
      http://allafrica.com/stories/201203090364.html

I think it is a closed issue. Why wouldn't we attack you for participating in this scam and trying to spam us constantly about it?

      According to Forbes Magazine:

The video is inaccurate and outdated as Joseph Kony is no longer in the Uganda.
The video oversimplifies the complex history of Uganda and the LRA.
The video does more harm than good by focusing the issue on one man.
The video is a prime example of slactivism that reduces real issue to memes.

The government there is STILL there and just as guilty of atrocities, and now the US is being put into a sovereign country into another war.

I think there is a scam going on and a lot of people are spending money on a scam.

He fled his country a long time ago. This is a money-making scheme.

Also listen to people from Uganda:

      http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2012/03/201231284336601364.html

We are REALLY tired of this garbage.

If they hadn't spammed every site they could find, pretending to be things they weren't, they might have received a reasonable reception.

It is propaganda on a while new level:
      http://vigilantcitizen.com/vigilantreport/kony-2012-state-propaganda-for-a-new-generation/

On Yahoo! Answers "Invisible Children" and their supporters CONSISTENTLY posted, every few minutes in areas like Fashion, or Games, about KONY 2012. It was CONTEMPTIBLE and unethical.
They have made millions on this garbage, and TARGETED our children as consumers.

Worse, they started a storm of people saying, "SEE? Christians can be terrorists, too!" But they forget to actually examine his history. He's not Christian. He's Muslim.
      http://wwrn.org/articles/5719/?place=eastern-africa&section=other

It's wrong. They should be investigated for fraud and scamming who knows how many foolish people, particularly teenagers.
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cover_the_Night

      Enough of them.

  26. QUESTION:
how should the layout of a teen acting resume be?
Im 13 and i am going to be sending in a resume, headshot, and cover letter to kim dawson agency soon. I have a lot of film training and theatre training and experience. I haven't been in any commercials or anything like that. So how should the layout of a teen resume be? Should i put my height/weight?

    • ANSWER:
The layout should be basically the same as an adult resume. It's a pretty standard format.

Start with your name at the top. Then list your contact information (your parent's cell phone or e-mail address). DO NOT put your cell phone or home number (use your parents cell phone number) or your home address (use a PO Box or your parent's work address) on your resume. That's just for safety sake.

Then put your stats: age, height, weight, hair color, eye color

Then you can list your experience. Use a 3 column format - the first column is the name of the project, second is the role/type of role, the third column is some identifying info--the studio, the director. Most list experience in this order (except in NY where THEATRE may be listed first).

      FILM
      TELEVISION
      THEATRE

Then you list your training and finally your special skills.

Since you're only 13, your parents should be doing this. This is a pretty important piece of marketing that you're sending out and you'll want to make sure it's the best it can be. Here are some tips about resumes for kids:

  27. QUESTION:
Can somebody please explain all this illuminati and freemason stuff to me?
I hear the illuminati killed michael jackson, jennifer hudsons family, JFK.
Their trying to take over the world (NWO)
Making the world new for reptilians?
    Corrupting music?
What are they going to do in 2012?
    What is the Agenda?
    SOMEBODY EXPLAIN!

    • ANSWER:
The Illuminati were a group that existed in Bavaria from 1776 to 1784. They haven't existed for 225 years.

Freemasonry is the world's oldest fraternity and largest philanthropy.

      Michael Jackson killed Michael Jackson.

      Oswald killed Kennedy.

The only NWO is a disbanded group of professional wrestlers. And wrestling is fake.

Reptilians had their chance, and decided to die off 65 million years ago. Perhaps if they had bigger brains and thumbs they would have done better.

Music is being corrupted by singers & songwriters that have no talent and is listened to by idiots who have no taste.

I can't speak for the Freemasons or long-disbanded Barvarian groups, but - as a Freemason - I plan on doing the same thing in 2012 that I do at the end of every year. Turn over the calendar to the next year. In this case, that'd be 2013. ooOOooh, scary, scary.

The agenda is a list of topics and bullet points that are discussed in a meeting. It's all in the dictionary. Read it. Learn it. Live it.

      NOTES:

      - Reading fictional novels like Angels and Demons, the DaVinci Code, the Lost Symbol and watching National Treasure will do nothing but provide entertainment. Why? Because it's FICTION. Duh.

      - Watchin National Treasure II Book of Secrets will do nothing but waste 124 minutes of your life. It's not a good film.

      - The Illuminati weren't 'oppresed' by the Catholic Church, they were disbanded by the Bavarian government. Duh.

      - Freemasonry is a FRATERNITY - not a secret society - and existed from well before the founding of the Illuminati. The fraternity officially became speculative with the founding of the Grand Lodge of England in 1717. The Illuminati didn't even start until 1776, and - for the ignorant answerer's benefit - the founder of the Illuminati was a Freemason, not the other way around. Learn your conspiracies before you start posting nonsense. Look up Johann Adam Weishaupt - he started the Illuminati in 1776, and joined a Masonic Lodge in 1777. Geez.

      - "Novus Ordo Seclorum" does mean "New Order of the Ages," but it does NOT mean "democracy." America is a democratically elected representative republic, NOT a democracy. Duh.

      - SOME of the Founding Fathers were Freemasons, but certainly not ALL. Broad sweeping generalizations are the realm of the ignorant.

Epic Poem Characteristics - Conventions of Epic Poetry

Epic is a long poem which deals with the doings characters from either legend or history. It is generally war-like that involves multiple secondary characters, and also gods and spirits. The following five are the epic conventions:

      1. Invocation to muse: An epic starts with a prayer or invocation. The poet asks the muse/god to help him in his great work. Milton makes use of such convention to muse in his epic poem Paradise Lost.

      2. Homeric Simile: Compared to an ordinary simile, a Homeric simile is expanded to such an extent that it becomes an another poem within the poem.

      3. Athletic Games/Contest: Epic has to offer this convention. Milton makes use of it in his Paradise Lost Book-2 where he describes the fallen angels arranging an athletic meeting.

      4. Adventurous Journey: The hero of an epic poem makes a journey. For instace, Aeneas makes a journey to look for the spirits of Anchises.

  30. QUESTION:
Cheapest place to get 35mm film developed in the UK 2012?
I've started to get into Lomography and bought a 35mm Diana Mini Camera, it seems that there aren't many places offering film processing anymore and I've heard boots are to close their photo labs in their stores. Can anyone give me a comprehensive list of alternatives? Or indeed anywhere that still develops 35mm film in the UK.

    • ANSWER:
Cheapest for 35mm format C-41 is photoexpress in Hull, they do mail order at £2 a can plus 50p postage, with minimum order size of £5.00. http://www.photo-express.co.uk/price-list.php

Cheapest 35mm Black and White is your own darkroom, which at 50p a roll is around 10x cheaper than street price.

Cheapest E-6 development is my mate Steve, who's just bought a minilab! Otherwise street price runs to around £5-6 a can.

  31. QUESTION:
List Of Pixar Films That Are In Production And Are Going to Make?
Please List all of the films that pixar are making just now and a list of movies that pixar is going to make?

    • ANSWER:
What you need to do is go to http://www.imdb.com and look and see for yourself. Pixar has films scheduled up to 2012 or 2013 listed there, so to list all the films that they will be releasing and when they will be doing it is a moot point. Check out the Internet Movie Database, where they specialize in stuff like that. They also keep track of films by other studios. It wouldn't hurt to become a member of IMDBpro while you're at it so you can answer these questions instead of asking them!

  33. QUESTION:
Is there really an asteroid heading twoards earth and is going to hit sometime during 2012?
I've heard it but is it true?

    • ANSWER:
It already hit us around 1998:

Leo Biederman discovered an unusual object near the stars Mizar and Alcor. He alerted professional astronomer Marcus Wolf at a local observatory. Wolf learned that the object is a comet, and calculates that it will impact with Earth, but died in a car accident before he could alert the world.

A year later, MSNBC reporter Jenny Lerner investigates the resignation of the United States Secretary of the Treasury and his connection to an "Ellie". She discovers that Ellie is not a mistress but an acronym: "E.L.E.", for "Extinction-Level Event". Because of Lerner's investigation, President of the United States Tom Beck reveals to the public that the United States government learned a year ago from Wolf's scientific records about the comet's existence and announces the grim facts: The comet—named Wolf-Biederman—is 7 miles (11 km) wide, large enough to destroy all life if it strikes Earth. The United States and Russia have been secretly constructing in orbit the spacecraft Messiah, which they plan to send on a mission to destroy the comet with nuclear weapons. Life changes drastically worldwide, and both Leo and Lerner become celebrities.

After landing on the comet, the Messiah crew members plant nuclear bombs 100 meters beneath the surface; one crew member dies while another is seriously injured. When the bombs are detonated, Messiah is damaged and loses contact with Earth. Instead of being destroyed the comet splits into two smaller rocks nicknamed "Biederman" (1.5 miles (2.4 km) wide) and "Wolf" (6 miles (9.7 km) wide), both still world-threatening.

Beck acknowledges Messiah’s failure, declares martial law, and announces that governments worldwide are building underground shelters. The United States' national refuge is in the limestone caves of Missouri. The US government conducts a lottery to select 800,000 ordinary Americans aged 50 and under to join 200,000 pre-selected scientists, engineers, teachers, artists, soldiers, and officials. Lerner and Leo's family are pre-selected, but Leo's girlfriend Sarah Hotchner is not. Leo marries Sarah to save her family but the Hotchners are mistakenly left off the evacuee list; Sarah refuses to leave without them.

A last-ditch effort to use Earth's missile-borne nuclear weapons to deflect the two chunks of the comet fails. Leo returns home looking for Sarah, but her family has left for the Appalachian Mountains on a jammed highway. Sarah's parents urge Leo to take Sarah and her baby sister to high ground; Sarah still does not want to abandon her parents, but they convince her to do so. Lerner gives up her seat in an evacuation helicopter to her friend Beth, who has a young daughter. She instead joins her estranged father at her childhood beach house, where they reconcile and remember happier times. The Biederman fragment impacts in the Atlantic Ocean near Bermuda, creating an enormous, supersonic megatsunami. Leo and Sarah survive but Lerner and her father, Sarah's parents, and millions of others along the Atlantic coasts of North and South America, Europe, and Africa die.

The world braces for the impact of Wolf in western Canada, which will create a cloud of dust that will block out the sun for two years. This in turn will destroy all remaining life aside from that which has been evacuated underground, but Messiah—believed lost—reaches the fragment and enters a fissure to blow itself up, which breaks Wolf into much smaller pieces; these burn up in Earth's atmosphere, sparing humanity. The film closes with Beck speaking to a large crowd in front of the under-reconstruction United States Capitol, where he urges the nation and the world to continue their recovery.

  36. QUESTION:
Why are movie sequels the only type of movies were seeing lately?
God, if I could make a list of them I'd faint probably lol. Why are the majority of movies recently almost all been sequels? Of course we have some original new ideas but there minor compared to the reboots, uneccesary sequels ect.

Is this because of new young directirs, have they ran out if ideas and going the easy way? What's up with 2012 eh.

    • ANSWER:
      You are SO RIGHT.
Hollywood is about MONEY $$$$$. The studios are all run by money men whose only goal is too make money. Rather than look for new, interesting scripts -they all feel safer re-making something that's been done before and made LOTS of money. They figure if they continue making sequels and re-makes they are assured the money will pour in just like it did for the original film. They have no integrity and no creativity.
There are thousands of interesting scripts floating around Hollywood that no studio will ever bother to read. It's a shame.
The other thing we have to face realistically is movies are made for teens and 20-somethings. They don't have the greatest taste in movies. Their main interests are vampires, werewolves, car chases, bloody chainsaws, exploding heads and hot babes in bikini's. Kids have NO interest in something that might make them think. If they actually had any intelligence they wouldn't be wasting time on Facebook and Twitter.

When I was in college I took a film appreciation course. I that we were going to see cool movies. We DID see cool movies, but they were all foreign films where you had to read subtitles. I never thought I'd go for it but I fell in love with foreign film. I'm smart,I can read and I don't mind reading. Foreign films are (generally) so much better than American made formula movies. Interesting stories that are not reduced to the dumbest dialogue possible. There are great foreign films in every genre-from Sci Fi and horror to great, hard hitting dramas. No matter what kind of films you like there is something there for you to enjoy.
Lazy people always give the excuse-I don't want to read subtitles. I want to be entertained. Their loss.
The bottom line is as long as kids go to see a Twilight movie 5 or 6 times in the theater Hollywood will keep churning out the same crap over and over. Sadly, there is no chance that kids will smarten up and demand BETTER movies.

  37. QUESTION:

  38. QUESTION:
Can you name all the action/war films with air dogfights?
Really love fighter jets and WW2 dogfight battles. As well as space battles(star wars) I watched top gun and Red Tails. Both are pretty good films. I want to know if they are others as good.

    • ANSWER:
You ask two questions - the entire list, and then which are really good. Here's a substantial list of films with aerial dogfights in them:

1 Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
      2 Andrey Rublyov (1966)
3 Kaze no tani no Naushika (1984)
      4 Amores perros (2000)
      5 The Women (1939)
      6 Kurenai no buta (1992)
      7 Wings (1927)
      8 Hell's Angels (1930)
      9 The Holy Mountain (1973)
10 Cowboy Bebop: Tengoku no tobira (2001)
      11 The Dawn Patrol (1938)
      12 Profondo rosso (1975)
      13 The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)
      14 Fresh (1994)
      15 The Last Flight (1931)
      16 Brestskaya krepost (2010)
17 The Eagle and the Hawk (1933)
      18 Lassie Come Home (1943)
19 The First Great Train Robbery (1978)
      20 Sag-haye velgard (2004)
      21 Speed & Angels (2008)
      22 Battle of Britain (1969)
      23 Death Hunt (1981)
      24 Independence Day (1996)
      25 Good-bye, My Lady (1956)
26 Die Verrohung des Franz Blum (1974)
      27 God Is My Co-Pilot (1945)
      28 Zero Hour! (1957)
      29 Hot Shots! (1991)
      30 Oscar and Lucinda (1997)
      31 Age of Consent (1969)
      32 White Fang (1991)
      33 Washington Square (1997)
      34 Half Baked (1998)
      35 Pianese Nunzio, 14 anni a maggio (1996)
      36 Task Force (1949)
      37 Flying Leathernecks (1951)
      38 The Kentuckian (1955)
39 Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985)
      40 Hart's War (2002)
41 Flying Disc Man from Mars (1950)
      42 Petits frères (1999)
      43 Today We Live (1933)
      44 Clipped Wings (1937)
      45 Bombers B-52 (1957)
      46 Red Tails (2012)
      47 Pearl Harbor (2001)
      48 The New Kids (1985)
      49 Sheitan (2006)
50 Sign of the Wolf (1941)
      51 Exorcist: The Beginning (2004)
      52 Tarzan & Jane (2002)
53 Eyes of an Angel (1991)
      54 Skyline (2010)
      55 Kill Speed (2010)
      56 Freedom Strike (1998)
      57 Iron Eagle II (1988)
58 Aces: Iron Eagle III (1992)
      59 Dead Space (1991)
      60 Battlefield Earth (2000)
      61 Midnight Lovers (1926)
      62 Across the Atlantic (1928)
63 My Grief Is My Own (2008)

As to quality, that's a lighter tougher to nail down. Some are good movies, with only minor or so-so aerial dogfights, and some have great air battles, but the movie is weak. Also, some on this list are going to be tough to track down. Wings (1927) is a well-done, Academy Award winning, cutting edge for its time silent film, where it's made more impressive by virtue that you know there's no CGI used - it's all real, but the movie due to its age is difficult to track down. Same for some of these foreign films.

Ones I would consider noteworthy on the list purely from the aerial cinematography (since that appears to be what you're most interested in): Wings, Hell's Angels, God Is My Co-Pilot, Flying Leathernecks, Battle of Britain, Independence Day, and Pearl Harbor.

      Hope that helps!

  39. QUESTION:
Are they ever going to make films based on the Cherub series?
Are they ever going to turn them into movies? If so, when?

    Thanks a million

    • ANSWER:
This is from the Muchamore site and contains information about the prospective film

      http://www.muchamore.com/faqcherub.htm#cm1

However there appears to be no news on this later than June 2012. There is no indication on any of the movie sites that the film has gone into casting or even pre-production of any form (it is still being listed as "in development") although the fan sites talk about "keeping fingers crossed" for "developments" in "pre-production".

My feeling is that one attempt at making this into a film has already fallen through. This second attempt is taking such a long time to get off the ground that, clearly, some form of difficulty has arisen. There are some obvious possible problems, not least that the movie is likely to have a very narrow appeal age-wise and recent films for a similar age range have not done well. My guess would be that people are backing away from this project and the film is unlikely to be made. I would emphasis that this is a guess.

  41. QUESTION:
What is the best digital camera and lenses to purchase for professional looking photography.?
I am looking for a digital camera and lenses that will give me very professional photographs. What I would like to photograph are objects close up like dew on a leaf and also landscapes. Mountains to be specific. Any help would be great.
I am skilled professionally. However, it has been several years since I picked up my camera. All of my cameras still use good old fashioned film and I develop my own black and white photographs. I was looking for brand names and other peoples favorite DIGITAL cameras.

    • ANSWER:
If your old film cameras are Nikon then look for a Nikon DSLR like the D3200 or D5100 or D7000 and you can use the Nikon lenses you already own whether they are manual focus or auto focus.

If your old film cameras are Minolta Maxxum AF models then look for a Sony DSLR like the a37, a57, a65 or a77 and you can use the Minolta Maxxum AF lenses you already own. Your Maxxum lenses will auto focus and meter as they should on any of the Sony models listed.

If your old film cameras are Canon EOS AF models then look for a Canon DSLR like the T3, T1i, T2i, T3i, T4i or 60D and you can use the Canon AF lenses you already own.

If your old film cameras are Pentax models then look for a Pentax DSLR like the K-30, K-5 or K-R and you can use the Pentax lenses you already own whether they are manual focus or auto focus.

However, if your old film cameras are Canon or Minolta or Olympus manual focus models there are no DSLR cameras that use the old Canon FD lens mount or the old Minolta SR lens mount or the old Olympus OM lens mount.

I didn't mention any of the full-frame (the sensor is the same size as a 35mm film frame) DSLR models from Nikon or Canon because you failed to tell us your budget. The models I did mention are all what's known as "cropped sensor" cameras - the sensor is smaller than a 35mm film frame so you'd have to get used to the "crop factor" which is used to compute the equivalent angle of view of a lens on a "cropped sensor" DSLR to a lens on a 35mm film camera.

On Sony, Pentax and Nikon the "crop factor is 1.5x. A 24mm wide angle lens on any of them will have the equivalent angle of view of a 35mm wide angle lens (actually its 36mm but that isn't a focal length ever manufactured to my knowledge) on your 35mm film camera.

On a Canon "cropped sensor" DSLR the "crop factor" is 1.6x so a 24mm wide angle lens on any of the models I listed will have the equivalent angle of view of a 38.4mm lens on your 35mm film camera.

So when using any of the Sony, Pentax, Nikon or Canon "cropped sensor" DSLR models you'll have to back up some to include as much of the scene as you'd get using the same focal length on your 35mm cameras.

Of course all of the above is moot IF you have the budget for a full-frame DSLR like the Nikon D700 or D800 or D3X or D4 or the Canon 5D Mark II or 5D Mark III or 1D X. Sad to say but currently Sony and Pentax don't offer a full-frame DSLR although there are rumors of the Sony a920 full-frame DSLR being introduced in August 2012. Rumors of a Pentax full-frame DSLR have been circulating for about 2 years but so far nothing has come of them.

Of course, its also possible that after you begin looking at the prices of DSLR cameras and the lenses for them you just might decide that your vintage 35mm film cameras are worth keeping and using.

  42. QUESTION:
What proof Is there that the World WON'T end In 2012?
I know everything about the Mayan Calendar theory but how come they predicted World War 1, the rise of Hitler and a Boxing Day thing and they ALL happened. Also, the film '2012', said that there would be tremors, this happened, and that New York would flood, this happened. If the World wasn't going to end then how did all of this come true?

Please answer what I have stated above and yes I am already aware of NASA saying that It won't, so there's no need to send me the link, although people say that NASA are lying because they work for the Government.

    The main questions I would like people to answer are;

    - How Is the World meant to end on the 21st of December, 2012
    - What time Is the World meant to end on the 21st of December, 2012
    - How did all of this stuff come true If people are saying that the World won't end
    - Why do you think the World won't end on the 21st of December, 2012

    • ANSWER:
The only thing that is going to happen on 21 Dec is the Solstice, which happens twice a year, 21 or 22 Dec and again on 21 or 22 June.

A solstice is an astronomical event that occurs twice each year as the Sun reaches its highest or lowest excursion relative to the celestial equator on the celestial sphere.

The Solstice will occur at 21 Dec 11:12 GMT

December 21st (United States) the Winter Solstice, the Shortest day of the year.
December 22nd (Australia) The Summer Solstice, the Longest day of the year.

More details about the Solstice can be found on this web site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solstice

All of the Doomsday stories are a hoax, a fraud, and an absolute con job. It is a cruel and disgusting lie being promoted by scam artists after money. The 21 Dec Hoax is centred around the Mayan Calender. The Maya actually never made a single prediction related to an apocalypse. The Mayan Calender is only one on a long list of Doomsday events.
Planet X, or Nibiru > Does not exist.
      There is no Galactic Alignment.
There will be NO 3 days of Darkness.
      There is no Proton Belt.
The Magnetic Poles are NOT shifting.

This web page has a list of all of them: http://www.2012hoax.org

Don’t believe what I am telling you?? Just Wait until 25 Dec and email me. I will be here having a good laugh at all the morons and idiots.

    • ANSWER:
      It's a scam.

Feel free to keep posting here; the backlash from those of us SICK of the constant spamming campaign probably drove the producer of the campaign to wander in his underwear, masterbating and beating the pavement until he was arrested.

  44. QUESTION:
Any good animated media from places other than English speaking-countries (USA, Canada, UK) and Japan?
I've seen a lot animation from all four of the aforementioned countries and I was wondering if anyone knew of other places with good animated shows/movies/short films.

It's just something I thought would be interesting to look into, because I don't hear about animation from other countries very often.

    Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
If you look at this catalogue of animated series on wikipedia, it lists the country of origin.
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animated_television_series

      Here's the 2012 line-up of new shows:
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animated_television_series_of_2012

note that there are 1 from Indonesia, 4 from Canada, 32 from USA and 78 from Japan, which explains why so many animation fans watch anime. There's just more to pick from and they're more diverse. It's likely that Canada relies on America's bigger audiences to make it's show profitable.

Animated movies tend to be more diverse in source than TV shows:
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animated_feature_films

As you can see from the 2012 line up here, animated movies are from many more countries than TV shows:

      ===

In the future I'd be on the lookout for shows in languages of areas of the world that are becoming more affluent, e.g. Spanish, Portuguese, Indian, Chinese. It would seem that there's a minimum number of language speakers before shows in that language become cost-effective, e.g. French and German seem to import and dub all their animated shows, even though they are affluent countries. Possibly you need ~100 million native speakers before shows pay for themselves.

  45. QUESTION:
How long will the re-released version of 'Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace' be in theaters?
Okay, so I know that February 10, 2012, 'Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace' is being re-released to theaters in 3D, but I'm not sure how long it will be in theaters, and I cannot attend it opening day. Does anyone have any idea how long the film will be re-released in theaters? Please list sources if applicable. Thanks. =)

    • ANSWER:
Any film that is as big as, well, Star Wars, will spend about 3 months in the cinemas. Tbh, it's not worth seeing the OT in 3D, especially TPM. It'll spend as long a duration as long as George Lucas' pockets keep getting refilled.

  50. QUESTION:
What would result in the Federal Reserve being nationalized?

I read the link you posted. So all the profit the Federal Reserve makes off loaning money to the banks goes back to the government?
So why all this animosity towards the Federal Reserve if it doesn't even keep its profits except for what it requires?

    • ANSWER:
Nothing, since it is not private. At least it isn't private in the way that you think it is. The Federal Reserve is an independent, quasi-governmental agency with both public and private parts. However, monetary policy decisions are all performed by the Federal Open Market Committee which is under the direct control of the Board of Governors which is not private in any way.

For more information on the structure of the Federal Reserve, see my answer at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ak1e6jjijfAVJRf7csVWV6Pty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20120125093127AA87est

EDIT: Yes. All net profits of the Federal Reserve are paid to the U.S. Treasury every year. Out of the revenues of the Federal Reserve, it pays for its expenses of operation, a small dividend to the member banks (approximately .5 billion total), and adjustment to a surplus fund which matches the amount contributed by the member banks for their subscription. Everything left over after that is paid to the U.S. Treasury.

EDIT: Most of the animosity towards the Federal Reserve is fed partly by conspiracy theory nonsense and partly by general ignorance about how the Fed works and is structured. It also doesn't help when certain politicians use sound bites to make things sound worse than it is in order to play into the fears of voters who are not knowledgeable about facts.

EDIT: Do you see what I mean about people not understanding the structure of the Federal Reserve? The other answer has posted what amounts to conspiracy theory nonsense. The Federal Reserve DOES NOT loan money to the government. In fact, it is PROHIBITED BY LAW from doing so. The government borrows money by issuing Treasury securities which are sold at auction. Anyone may buy these securities at the auction, even you and even the conspiracy theorist. The Federal Reserve may only buy the securities that it hold on the open market which is where investors trade securities that were previously auctioned.

If a person wants to learn about the Federal Reserve, read a book written by a RESPECTED economist. G. Edward Griffin, the author of "The Creature from Jekyll Island", has a degree in communications and believes in all types of nonsense like laetril and other conspiracy theory idiocy. There are so many things wrong in his book that it is impossible to list it all here.

"The American Dream" film is also nonsense. For a start on what they got wrong, see my answer at http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ar.GUDhjnImJyKvy9RxXiuPty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20120406125130AAPmaUP

In short, if you want to learn about the Federal Reserve, take a college course or read a college textbook on the topic. Any moron can make a video and post it on the Internet, that doesn't mean the moron knows WTF he is talking about.

EDIT 4/20/2012: "Much of the money the Federal Reserve makes from loaning money to the banks goes to the private global banking cartel." WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. As required by law, all net profit of the Federal Reserve is paid to the U.S. Treasury. This can clearly be seen on the independently audited financial statements of the Federal Reserve which are public record. Of course, if certain people would learn to get their information from RELIABLE sources, they would know this. Nonsense is still nonsense regardless of how many times ignorant people repeat it on the Internet.

BTW, reliable or respected sources are considered that because they have the education and experience within the field and are highly regarded by others within the field. These people know the law or other primary sources within their field of expertise and actually work in the field. OTOH, NON-reliable sources, like "The Creature from Jekyll Island" not only are NOT respected sources within the field, but errors can be easily found within the sources simply by referencing the law. It isn't nonsense because I say it is nonsense. It is nonsense because it makes claims that are not supported by the law or reality.
