New Films 2012 Picture

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
How to find good independent films?
I like to watch the more academic of the TGWTG reviewers, particularly the Nostalgia Chick. I also have gotten into and have really taken a liking to some of the independently released films that she has suggested. My favorite probably being "Sita Sings The Blues".

And it has really gotten me interested in film. Although I do not plan on taking a career in that. But I'd love to search more into different indie flicks. I just don't know how to find out all about that or get started or find out about new films. Can can someone help me on this?

    • ANSWER:
      Here are some indie films:

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0190332/
      - Great film from Ang Lee, the guy who have directed the recently released Life Of Pi.

      The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0265666/
      - One of the best indie films from the 2000s made by Wes Anderson who also have made Moonrise Kingdom (2012) which is also a terrific indie film.

      Pan's Labyrinth (2006) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457430/
      - The very best indie film I know, a masterpiece.

Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2125435/
      - Haven't seen this one yet, but earlier today when the Oscar nominations were announced, this indie film was nominated for 5 Oscars including Best Picture!

You can also check out this link:
      http://listverse.com/2007/10/23/top-15-indie-films/
      - Eternal Sunshine on The Spotless Mind (2004) is the best film on that list in my opinion.

      Hope this helped you out!

  2. QUESTION:
What movies would be considered for an Academy Award for Best Picture for 2009?
2009 is over now but I don't know what'll be considered for the best movie of 2009 since the year doesn't seem like a good year for movies (Twlight, Transformers, 2012, Terminator Salvation, etc.) I can only think of Inglorious Basterds, Avatar, and Up in the Air. Does anyone know of any other good movies?

    • ANSWER:
Inglourious Basterds, Up In The Air, and Avatar are clearly the front runners, but this is going to be an interesting race with 10 slots instead of 5... here's my predicted nominees.

      1. Avatar
      2. Up In The Air
      3. Inglourious Basterds
      4. An Education
      5. Precious
      6. The Hurt Locker
      7. Invictus
      8. A Serious Man
      9. Up
      10. (500) Days Of Summer

Here are some other movie's that will be nominated....

The Messenger (Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor)
      Moon (Best Actor)
The Fantastic Mr. Fox (Best Animated Film)
      District 9 (Best Adapted Screenplay)
      Julie & Julia (Best Actress)
      Crazy Heart (Best Actor)
      The Blind Side (Best Actress)
The Lovely Bones (Best Supporting Actor)
      The Last Station
      It's Complicated
      The Young Victoria
      Bright Star
      The Informant!

Star Trek & The Hangover are longshots, but they are the kind of movie's that the 10 slot race was made for....

  3. QUESTION:
What Film Should Win the Best Picture at the 2012 Oscars?
I am film major student and am very much into the oscars. This year has been a great year for film but I believe alot of the buzz is going in more of a political way than a talent way. I chose 3 actors and 3 actresses that I believed were the best of 2011 and only 2 (total) were nominated. I am asking people for their personal opinion (not political) of which film should win best picture?

    What do you say?

My pick goes to Tree of Life.

    • ANSWER:
I grade from * to **** and here's my rundown of the nominees:

The Artist **** A black & white and almost entirely silent movie that is one of the most fun of the year.

The Descendants **** Another first-rate dramedy by the director of Sideways and About Schmidt.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close **½ The kid's good, but the movie has a dumb plot.

The Help *** One of the fan favorites, a good drama, but not Driving Miss Daisy good.

Hugo **** Wonderfully imaginative, excellent entertainment, great use of 3D.

Midnight in Paris ***½ One of Woody Allen's best recent dramedies.

Moneyball **** A sports movie that works just as well for fans as non-fans. Excellent.

Tree of Life **** Slow-moving for some, an epic not unlike 2001: A Space Odyssey for the rest of us.

War Horse **** Excellent Spielberg epic that pays homage to film techniques of the past.

I think Extremely Loud is the only movie that doesn't really belong there. I would have liked to see Bridesmaids or Take Shelter or Drive in its place.

The Artist will win Best Picture and probably take Supporting Actress and two other categories as well. It's a fun movie for anyone and it celebrates Hollywood. That's a double-whammy right there, so it's going to win the big prize although watch out for either Scorsese or Malick to win Best Director.

I think Jean DuJardin may win Best Actor; Christopher Plummer for Supporting Actor.

Meryl Streep looks like she'll win her 3rd in the Actress category.

A Separation will win for Foreign Film, and it will deserve it. The Iranian film is one of the best of the late 2011 entries.

  4. QUESTION:
Why are movies taken off of Netflix sometimes?
I recently watched the 2009 movie 2012 on Netflix (about 2 weeks ago). Personally, despite reviews, I think it was a good movie, but that's beside the point. Today I was on Netflix and noticed that it wasn't available to watch instantly as it was two weeks ago! This has happened with other movies too. Why is this?

    • ANSWER:
      contact expiration

the programs on watch instant have to be licensed by their distributor. when the contact expires, the program gets taken off. They can only stream a title for as long as the contact is.

Netflix is a rental and streaming company, Not Columbia Pictures. Disney, Viacom, Paramount pictures, 20th century fox and all these other film and tv companies

The simpsons, that 70s show, edward Scissorhands - these are all owned by 20th century fox.

If Netflix were to stream any of these, they need a license from Fox. and when and if they get a license, they can only stream for the length of the license

the same would apply to any film by any company - Netflix doesn't own the films they stream and rent out so they can only stream it for how long the license is

  5. QUESTION:
What should I get my VHS tapes transfered to?
I have about 10 VHS tapes of home movies which I want to get transferred to disc. There are a couple of local companies which will do this for me, but they offer a few different types of disc to transfer to and I don't know which to choose. I want to be able to edit the films myself on my computer as the companies charge quite a lot for this and might not edit them how I want them. Will I be able to edit a standard DVD or do I need something else?

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Rewritable discs (-RW or +RW) do not have the same life expectancy as recordable discs (-R or +R). This is due to the make up of the discs - rewritable discs are not intended to be used for archiving purposes. Some companies only offer rewritable discs as they are using DVD recorders which cannot accept -R or +R discs (x16 speed -R discs are too fast for most DVD recorders and won't work, whereas slower -RW discs will work).

Regardless of the disc type used you will be able to read these in a PC and copy off the files for editing. All standard DVD discs have .vob files (Video OBjects) on them numbered from 1 to 5. Each of these .vob files will contain your VHS video that has been transferred. In order to edit them you can either use video editing software to open the DVD direct which will copy them off for you or you could just copy the .vob files onto your computer and rename them to .mpg. The .vob files are in fact an MPEG2 file that has been chopped up into 1GB chunks.

Quality differs from place to place! Companies that are using DVD recorders will give a reasonable result but you are far better grabbing the video from the video player directly into the computer and then applying MPEG compression to the video. 2 pass variable bitrate is best to obtain maximum detail - something that DVD recorders cannot achieve as they are burning on the fly. Proper transfer companies will be using time base correction which will improve the picture quality - if they don't understand what time base correction is then you should avoid them. A proper transfer should also include basic editing (such as fuzz / blank removal etc.), colour correction, noise reduction and any cropping that is required.

There is lots of video editing software on the market and you should consider functionality, price, speed and effectiveness of them in order to determine which is most suitable for your editing purposes.

See here for more information on professional video transfers:

  6. QUESTION:
Can I still use expired Black and White film?
I just found 2 rolls of unused Kodak 400 24 Exp. Black and White film in a drawer. They expired in December 2004 (12/2004). Today is January 8, 2012 (1/8/2012). Is the film still usable? If so, should I use it any different from normal film?

I will be using a Canon film SLR to take the pictures.

    • ANSWER:
I tend to go along with "Mike 1942" on this one. It is only two rolls. If the rolls had been kept refrigerated or frozen all this time I would say shoot them with no worry. However, as that is not the case, why take the chance? Film is cheap, at least for only two rolls. Buying two new rolls is a LOT cheaper than paying for processing of rolls that may or may not come out ok, not to mention the disappointment of wasting all the time and effort you took taking the photos. All to save a few bucks on two rolls of film? That is poor logic. Just buy new rolls, ... and keep them refrigerated until used.

hey, so you know in the film 2010? Well in one part they take the mona lisa picture from an art gallery or something and replace it with another one, which is the original one and what are they doing with it?

  9. QUESTION:
Where can I see original movie costumes on display?
Specifically from the film The Help. Does anyone know if the costumes are on display anywhere? I'm going to Hollywood this summer and I'd love to see them!

    • ANSWER:
I've got good news and bad news.

The good news is that I know exactly where you can see them, right now. They're on display at the Fashion Institute of Design museum, in downtown Los Angeles, along with costumes from other Oscar-nominated films such as "The Artist" and "Hugo". For details, see: http://blog.fidmmuseum.org/museum/2012/02/20th-annual-art-of-motion-picture-costume-design-exhibition-now-open.html

Unfortunately, the bad news is that the exhibit will only be open for another five weeks, until April 28th.

They do this every year (for the Oscars), from Feb to April, but I believe the costumes change each year.

  10. QUESTION:
When will Calico Joe by John Grisham be produced into a movie?
I LOVE this book and I can't wait to see a film about it. I read an article dated back to June 2012 that said Chris Columbus' 1492 Pictures had bought the rights to make the film and that he was set to direct it. Any idea when more information will come of this, or more importantly, when the movie will be released? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I haven't been able to find a good date about a release for it. They say that it is in production, and I found one website that tentatively said in 2017, but that seems ridiculously far away.

  11. QUESTION:
What do you think about Anne Hathaway as Catwoman?
Personally, I don't think it's a role that fits her. Plus, I saw the teaser picture of her, and I must say, I didn't really like it. What do you guys think?

    • ANSWER:
I think she'll do great in her new role as Selena Kyle/Catwoman. Anne is known for her versatility as an actress: she's done romantic comedies, sexy roles, period films, dramas, and she has, with all fairness, done justice to all her characters. I've read various comments about her being cast as the film's villain, and for me, these mixed reactions that we hear from people only escalates the excitement that we have for "Dark Knight Rises". Besides, the brilliant Christopher Nolan is on to direct the film, and knowing how Nolan astonishingly nailed the two previous Batman films, we are assured of a superb and quality superhero film this 2012. Anne is a great actress and I think we just better see the movie first before we judge if she truly fits the coveted role.

  12. QUESTION:
Can someone tell me where i can find picture of Joseph Kony wearing a Valentino gown at the Oscar?
It is a vintage red velvet Valentino gown Duchess satin inserts. Can't seems to find it anywhere, i need it for my school project.

    • ANSWER:
      No.

I can't, and hopefully no one else can.

We're being scammed and spammed, massively. You should all respond and let people know every time they post this nonsense.

I think it is a closed issue. Why wouldn't we attack you for participating in this scam and trying to spam us constantly about it?

      According to Forbes Magazine:

The video is inaccurate and outdated as Joseph Kony is no longer in the Uganda.
The video oversimplifies the complex history of Uganda and the LRA.
The video does more harm than good by focusing the issue on one man.
The video is a prime example of slactivism that reduces real issue to memes.

The government there is STILL there and just as guilty of atrocities, and now the US is being put into a sovereign country into another war.

I think there is a scam going on and a lot of people are spending money on a scam.

He fled his country a long time ago. This is a money-making scheme.

      http://jezebel.com/5892566/kony-2012-and-invisible-children-are-funded-by-antigay-creationist-groups

We are REALLY tired of this garbage.

If they hadn't spammed every site they could find, pretending to be things they weren't, they might have received a reasonable reception.

On Yahoo! Answers "Invisible Children" and their supporters CONSISTENTLY posted, every few minutes in areas like Fashion, or Games, about KONY 2012. It was CONTEMPTIBLE and unethical.
They have made millions on this garbage, and TARGETED our children as consumers.

It's wrong. They should be investigated for fraud and scamming who knows how many foolish people, particularly teenagers.

      Enough of them.

  13. QUESTION:
Is the Kony 2012 film just to make money for Invisible Children?
I've read couple of sources saying that the film was made professionally just to make you have the impulse of morality and emotion so you naturally "Make Kony Famous" which at the same time "Make Invisible Children" by changing profile pictures, sharing the film and buying Action Kit.

Also, a lot of people says the info that the film provides are outdated and there's more to care about in the world other than Joseph Kony.

"On August 13, 2009 Legendary Pictures let slip that they have plans to do another American Godzilla movie, though it seems early discussions have begun and the movie will not be a sequel to the 1998 movie.[3]

In addition to Legendary, producers on the new film will be Dan Lin, Roy Lee and Brian Rogers. Yoshimitsu Banno, Kenji Okuhira and Doug Davison will be the executive producers."

  18. QUESTION:
What do 21st Century Germans think of Kristallnacht 9-10 Nov 1938?
Do they think and know this was not a good thing and how different it is from a day in the life in Germany 8-Dec 2012?

    • ANSWER:
I doubt that many young people even remember that date. We're so far away from Nazi Germany (if it wasn't for the "Hitlery Channel" and Guido Knopp to keep us remembering), we know about the Nazi cruelties, but not really specific dates. And I even think we shouldn't make such a fuss about the "Kristallnacht" nor even give it that specific name, because it's a nazi word, and we shouldn't use it. What really happened was that groups of nazis smashed some windows in some major towns (in the then German Reich) of Jewish shop keepers, and there were movie cameras to film that and make it a big propaganda issue as an Arian upheaval.

Sure, the Kristallnacht, or later on even called "Reichskristallnacht", was one of the foundations for pogroms against Jews, and it was the most propagandistic move, as there were PICTURES. The whole thing started, actually, on September 15th, 1935, with the so-called "Nuremberg Laws". -- Nuremberg later on being chosen, not by random, by the allied victors as the place of trial for nazi criminals.

Romney stated that there are lots of people who don't qualify for welfare, foodstamps and disability but still continue getting it under Obama. He said his administration will review each case carefully to see if it is genuine or fake and if discovered to be fake, those benefits will be terminated. Under Obama these fake recepients have been enjoying life. Obama government rubberstamped many of these applications without thorough review due to incompetence. So what will these 47 percent do when their applications are discovered to have false grounds?

    • ANSWER:
I believe this remake of an old story describes this very well.

The New Ant and Grasshopper Story.

There’s much truth in both versions; however, the new version is replacing the old our society.

      Old Version

      The ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.

The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

      MORAL OF THE OLD STORY:

      Be responsible for yourself!

      New Version

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green’.

Occupy the Anthill stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news stations film the SEIU group singing, “We shall overcome.”

Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper’s sake, while he damns the ants.

President Obama goes on nation-wide TV and condems the ant and blames President Bush 43, President Bush 41, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper's plight. The masses rally to his every word and work themselves into a frenzy.

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant’s old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn’t maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and peaceful, neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.

      MORAL OF THE STORY:

Be careful how you vote in 2012.

I've sent this to you because I believe you are an ant and not a grasshopper!

Please pass this on to other ants.

Quality content is the surefire way to get more traction and attention. A lot of YouTube "musicians" record on their iPhone, with no music, or a poor setup. You can stand out by coming across as professional as possible.

First off, you're a musician, so sound quality should trump all other aspects of your channel. I would rather listen to a good quality song with just a picture than actually seeing you on a low grade camera. It's sad, but it's just the way the mind works. Not saying you should strive for this, but if high quality video is not an option, go with this. But I would advise getting good quality video after you sort out the audio quality.

You can try to seek out someone to record you. Granted, studio sessions are expensive. But I guarantee there are musicians in your school, college, or local area that know how to record and will do tracks for relatively cheap. It helps you out, and helps them out. You'd be surprised what people can do in a home studio. Since you are just getting started, this is probably your most viable option. If you're a musician, I guarantee you know others in your area. Ask around about their recording methods and see if you can find someone to assist you. Sound quality is your primary goal.

The other option is to buy yourself a simple setup and do it yourself. The only drawbacks to this is cost, inexperience, and time invested to learn sound production. But you could get by with a USB mic from Best Buy, and a medium grade sound program like Sound Forge from Sony. You could get some solid room recordings out of it, and with a little more effort, you could do separate tracks and make something that sounds a little more professional.

Second on the list is video quality. I did mention it before. Again, if you do not have the means to get a good quality camera: Beg, borrow, everything short of steal to get one. There are some good options for cheaper that are aimed more at bloggers than musicians. Like some of the Kodak blogger cameras that run about . They are a cheap alternative if it's all you can get. But I would try to get the best quality you can. Either by investing in a good camera or finding someone to film you. A basic music video always sells. It's share able, good quality, and looks professional.

Remember, good quality content is the key.

Next up, just work on your image overall. Make a YouTube layout, have a good profile picture, and make custom thumbnails for your videos. Maybe make a Facebook page to help share yourself and announce things to people who listen to you. Such as show dates, new videos, new songs, an EP release, or anything of the sort.

As far as sharing yourself, here are a few pointers:

Take advantage of social media. Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, anything you can drop a link on and it get shared. This helps build a fanbase and you can use your army of friends and family to help spread it beyond your reach alone.

Take advantage of what is trending on YouTube. When a new album from a famous musician comes out, people always search for the tracks or lyric videos online. It is a cheap method, but you can try to tag those albums in so you turn up in more searches/related videos. Also, "New Music 2012" and such is always searched. Take advantage of what people are looking for.

If you get some good recordings, maybe take 1 or 2, and make them royalty free on YouTube. Go to video makers and say "Hey I have a couple songs you can use in your video if you ever need". Or contact people directly and ask to do a mutual shoutout if they use your music. Your music reaches their audience and will help to build yours. Do you know how many videos have songs that the comments beg to know "What song is that at 3:13 in the video?" You could be that song people are dying to know about. It helps both you out and the person you contacted.

AdWords by Google really is powerful if you want to spend some money. It just shares your video with people, and you can adjust what videos it advertises next to. I use it, and it helps.

IF you need any more information about the information we talked about, contact me on YouTube. I make videos for all video related questions, and my friend who helps me is really talented at recording music. We can help you on all fronts!

  23. QUESTION:
How much money should I budget for Ghost Hunting Gear?
I'm discovering some great online ghost hunting stores. Now I'm wondering what people are budgeting for their ghost hunts? How much money is going to get me a good ghost hunt investigation?

    Thanks for the help!

    • ANSWER:
As I’m sure you’ve realized, this depends what you would like to use to ‘hunt ghosts.’ Of course the answer to that depends greatly on what you would like to get out of ‘ghost hunting.’ Alright, so enough answering a question with more questions.

The costs begin with free! That’s right, I highly recommend those new to the ‘ghost hunting’ field to utilize what they have around the house. Most people have access to a camera, or camera/phone. Obviously the more you spend the more quality your photograph and any potential anomalous data acquired will have. There are some fairly decent entry level digital cameras for sale today (*2012) for around 0 and up. There are a ton of options you will want to familiarize yourself with first. This goes for cameras or some of the more specific tools you see on the ghost hunting TV shows. Having worked with most of the networks and production companies, I can say that what you see on TV isn’t always the best direction to go with your own ‘ghost hunting.’

To get straight to your question (too late):
      Infrared Thermometer
Infrared Thermometer with PC interface and K-Type Probe 0+ (recommend this one)
      Digital Camera
Digital Camera with glass lens, Infrared illuminators and high Megapixels 0+ (recommend this one)
3D Digital Camera 0+ (recommend this one)
      Single Axis EMF Meter
Three Axis Data logging pc interface EMF Meter 0+ (recommend this one)
      Dowsing rods +

Alright so I could go on, but it would be easier to direct you a site that you could click through the store for free (full disclosure…my website). http://GetGhostGear.com Visit there and find a ton of articles with pictures and ‘as seen on TV’ equipment (as many TV shows have gotten their equipment from me). Become an informed consumer and check out the HUGE and FREE list of ghost hunting equipment here http://getghostgear.com/gear-list-with-images.html

All you have to do is click on the ghost hunting equipment picture, learn more about it, and then click another link there if you want to purchase it. We don’t recommend all of the equipment, just for the record so if you want our advice, read the articles first! I’ll include a bio about myself and my background so you know where your information is here is coming from (even if you don't shop from us, know who you are shopping with).

Hope this helps, and start saving those pennies. Get out in the field (safely) first and see what you think you need from there!

  24. QUESTION:
What is the size of screen in movie theaters? Can I get a TV of the same size?
I need that big tv, so is it available? Cost no problem, will pay even a million for that.

    • ANSWER:
Hi Anit, LG WRman Greg here,

The average movie theater screen size is about 10 metres in height and 20 metres in length, so it would be hard to replicate it at your home. However, you can definitely emulate this experience of going to the theater and watching a super HD film on the new LG World Record Ultra HD TV: http://www.lg.com/in/tvs/lg-84LM9600-ultra-defination-cinema-3d-smart-tv. With a giant screen of 84 inches put inside your living room, you will be able to experience that vastness of the screen as in a movie theater. And the picture quality of the TV is top-notch to the point where many considers that it can bring the movie theater quality to your own home. You can read about it here: http://www.popsci.com/technology/article/2012-05/how-4k-resolution-will-bring-movie-theater-quality-living-room

How can i meet ryan reynolds or possibly just see him? ? so i can die a happy girl.?
I am prob one of his biggest fans and I need to fulfill this dream of mine. I live in LA does anyone know any areas where I might be able to spot him??

    • ANSWER:
Ryan has been seen most lately in Texas visiting rumored girlfriend Sandra Bullock. His home however is in Pasadena, California. He is not currently filming anything but is being asked by Paramount Pictures to start a feature with him as a leading actor, but it's not for sure. I wouldn't imagine it starting to be filmed until early 2012.

Ryan is a good guy, and I'm also a fan.

Are you convinced that Republicans live in a deluded, mindless parallel universe of ignorance and fantasy?
Some of the stuff posted here by right wingers is beyond belief.

People write on here that monetary policy had nothing to do with the debt bomb exploding.

People write on here that the main reason why the mortgage bubble blew up was because of some insignificant law passed by Jimmy Carter back in the 1970's. Every study has proven that CRA loans had am extremely minuscule effect on the mortgage meltdown.

    • ANSWER:
      GRASSHOPPER and THE ANT.
Two Different Versions ..... Two Different Morals

      OLD VERSION:
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE OLD STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

      MODERN VERSION:
The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving. CBS, NBC , PBS, CNN and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food…America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green..'

ACORN stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, We shall overcome. Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper's sake.

President Obama condemns the ant and blames President Bush, President Reagan, our Founding Fathers and the Pope for the grasshopper's plight. Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Matt Lauher that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize and ramshackle the once prosperous and peaceful neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2012

  29. QUESTION:
Wasn't the depiction of what will happen in the film 2012 a bit extreme?
I mean i love the movie but the way the planet will end (if it actually will) was a bit exaggerated i think. How California just started falling apart was too unrealistic for something that will happen in three years. I thought the special effects we're great and i like the movie itself but seeing the movie actually made me realised that there is no way this will happen.

2012? Yes, I've seen it. It's mainly just a special effects movie. Like a new ride at Six Flags. It can't be taken as a serious message about any reality.

As for Al-Islam and the Final Hour see the hadith of Jibril (Gabriel).

He (the enquirer) again said: Inform me about the hour (of the Doom). He (the Holy Prophet) remarked: One who is asked knows no more than the one who is inquiring (about it). He (the inquirer) said: Tell me some of its indications. He (the Holy Prophet) said: That the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress and master, that you will find barefooted, destitute goat-herds vying with one another in the construction of magnificent buildings. He (the narrator, Umar ibn al-Khattab) said: Then he (the inquirer) went on his way but I stayed with him (the Holy Prophet) for a long while. He then, said to me: Umar, do you know who this inquirer was? I replied: Allah and His Apostle knows best. He (the Holy Prophet) remarked: He was Gabriel (the angel). He came to you in order to instruct you in matters of religion.

As for me I do believe it's true regarding the end of the "Trinitarian (Trick) Order". It means the death of that method of rule and authority based upon the Trinitarian Doctrine. It's supposed to take place on 12-21-12. Winter Solstice which is the basis of Christmas and the Birth of Christ. Notice the pattern of reversing the number 12 reverses to 21 and reverts back to 12. Each number adds up to 3. So it is 3-3-3 which all add up to 9. Nine is the fullness of 3. The game ends in the 9th inning (Why is is called inning? Sounds like ending to me.) When a number is squared that represents the fullness of that number. The fullness of 3 means the end of the usefulness of the Trinitarian Doctrine. For nearly 2000 years it served as a mechanism of social control but now due to the growth of scientific insight and natural intellect as well as the growth of Al-Islam in the world, It has come to its end. So every structure built on it has to fall.

The Bible is part prophecy and part blueprint, According to Imam Mohammed (raa) so the fullness of 3 as the fullness of Trinitarianism in the Bible.

Paul explains that the Church (Trinitarianism) is a 'grafted' (Romans 11: 17) Institution from the original tree or Judaism, saying,

"For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in." Romans 11:25. Actually read the whole 11th chapter of Romans and you'll get the bigger picture.)

Fullness of the Gentile means when the Gentile (non-Jew) intellect catches on to the "Mystery" (e.g., That there is notSanta Claus - Physically returning Christ) then "all hell breaks loose". Frankenstein's Monster gets his own ideas.

"That blindness in part is happened to Israel" (Romans 11: 25) means the Gentile won't be able, for a long time (@2,000 years), to see the role of those Jews that are ungodly (not all Jews) in the scheme. The Gentile won't understand the mystery of Israel until the Gentile intellect grows up and catches on. When that happens then Trinitarianism (false ideas in religion) won't be able to control things anymore. That will be the destruction of the world order established upon it. The movies shows that the Earths core becomes unstable. It means Man's core beliefs built on the Trinitarian idea of G'd comes into question/doubt and the cherished institutions built on them fall, like Washington monument (Egyptian Mystery System; see symbols on the dollar bill) the Basilica of Rome and the Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio De Janero.

Regarding not having a scene depicting the destruction of the Kaaba, the director of the movie is quoted as saying,

" We have to all in the Western world think about this. You can actually let Christian symbols fall apart, but if you would do this with [an] Arab symbol, you would have a fatwa, and that sounds a little bit like what the state of this world is. So it’s just something which I kind of didn’t [think] was [an] important element, anyway, in the film, so I kind of left it out.”

The Truth is that the only thing in the world that doesn't rest on Trinitarianism is Al-Islam. So those who set the world on its original Triinitarian course, which has come to its end, are busy trying to destroy the "shine of Al-Islam" in the minds of the public. At least until they can get there new plan in place "A New World Order".

Muslims - Real Muslims-Not Muslims who let Trinitarian Concepts influence their perception and behavior in Al-Islam are the hope for the new human world.

So now they're calling in the Vampires (noticed all the vampire based movies). They call the other big movie out now "Twilight: The New Moon" but only Muslims (and those behind the scenes in the movie industry) really know that the New Moon is a Crescent not a Full Moon. However, on the posters they show a "Full Moon". The full moon is "the fullness of the Gentile" and there you don't get Vampires you get "The Wolf Man" (another movie coming soon starring Benecio Del Toro) Wolf and Vampire behavior is what we actually have in the gentile world now. The Corporate (Wolves) and Political (Vampires) order is going out of its mind and its bestiality is being manifest in all of the rapacious behavior we see from them. Look at the Economic Collapse and who gets bailed out and who got shafted. Look at the so-called "Health Care Debate" and whose getting stiffed and whose getting paid in the process. That behavior is inhuman and in service of "The New Moon". And we know crazy things always happen in "The Twilight Zone". Its no coincidence that these blockbusters came out at the same time.

In 2012 the Arks that survived to preserve "their civilization" were number 4,6 and 7 (when you see them in the last scene they invoke "The Nina , The Pinta and The Santa Maria. Headed for "The New World"' Africa (HELLO!!!!!!)).

When these numbers are added they total 8 ( 4+6+7=17; 1+7=8). Eight is the symbol of Death and Resurrection. 2012 is about how the puppet masters are resetting their clocks. "But They Plan and Allah has already Planned and Allah is the best of Planners".

2012 adds up to 5 and the Prophet said "Use 5 before 5 deprive you" and in essence he's telling to make the best use of our religion (5 pillars) our Common senses (5) and our Health, Wealth, Free Time, Youth and Life (5). That's what time it is!

Thanks for the question. I didn't know I had so much to say about it. Frankly, that's not all but we're doing a live streaming Public address today at 12:30 Pacific Time on "MUSLIMS IN THE MASS MEDIA" <>. So I've gotta go. I may incorporate some of this.

      Allah knows Best

  30. QUESTION:
Does anyone know anything about the new disney movie called Brave?
I've seen previews in theatres but I want to know more.

    • ANSWER:
Brave is a 2012 film. It's an upcoming American 3D computer-animated fantasy adventure film. In the film, the skilled archer Merida (voiced by Kelly Macdonald) defies an age-old custom, unleashing chaos in the kingdom. After consulting a wise old woman (voiced by Julie Walters) for help, she becomes cursed and is forced to undo the spell before it is too late.

The movie is being produced by Pixar Animation Studios, making this their thirteenth feature film, and will be released by Walt Disney Pictures. It was written by Brenda Chapman and Irene Mecchi, and it is being directed by Mark Andrews, who took over from Chapman. The film is scheduled for release on June 22, 2012 in the United States.

The synopsis of the film reads: "Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In Brave, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late."

Why do people find vampires and werewolves attractive?
They are blood sucking and flesh eating monsters.

But honestly, I find it hot too lol.

    • ANSWER:
Vampires started being attractive after Dracula came out. Bela Lugosi looked like a human, which before then, wasn't what a vampire looked like. After that, it kinda became the appearance of vampires...which has sadly led us to twilight.

    • ANSWER:
"Absolutely Live" is the first live album released by American rock band The Doors in July 1970.

"Alive, She Cried" is the second live album by the American rock band The Doors; the title of the album is taken from a line in the song "When the Music's Over".

"Live at the Hollywood Bowl" is the third live album by the American rock band The Doors. It was recorded on July 5, 1968 but not released until 1987.

"In Concert" is the fourth ans last live double album, recorded by The Doors. The album's performances are culled from a variety of different concerts and releases. In Concert includes all the tracks from Absolutely Live (with all but one track appearing on disc one with the remaining track on disc two) and Alive, She Cried. The three remaining tracks come from An American Prayer, Live at the Hollywood Bowl and one previously unreleased.

  34. QUESTION:
I think I want to do a project on 2012, advice?
I have to give a 30 minute presentation on anything I want, it's better if it's argumentative. I think perhaps doing something regarding 2012 would be interesting, any advice or suggestions? How I can develop an argument or cover a specific accent. I'm a senior in high school in an advanced program

    Thank You

    • ANSWER:
Talk for a few minutes about the predictions, then take a brief break before discussing the guys that came up with the whole hoax in the first place. You can fill the break-time with a Three Stooges short. After the film, tell the audience about Nancy "Larry" Lieder, who dreamed up Planet X... literally dreamed it up. She says aliens talk to her in her dreams. How about Patrick "Moe" Geryl, who says it is "certain" that the world will end in 2012, but he wants you to send him a billion dollars before then, please. (also, he says he proved Einstein was wrong) And Jose "Curly" Arguelles, who you could photoshop a picture of him wearing a dress... no, he isn't a cross-dresser, he says he is a reincarnated Mayan Princess.

These are the sources of 2012. Gee, wonder why we think the whole thing is a hoax?

  35. QUESTION:
Can aliens control your dreams or even acquaint themselves to you and provide true facts?
Im pretty much a regualar New York guy. Devote my life to production and entertainment but still do wonder about all the great questions that open minded people have been asking from the beginning of mankind. I believe that these answers are out there and science and religion are ultimately combined in some type of way. I can have bazzar dreams just like the next person, but for some reason, when i have dreams involving extra-terrestrials, i wake up with a sunken chest feeling. It's almost as if they feel soo much realer and something about it just eats at my insides telling me its more than just a cluster of thoughts my brain imagined. When i have a dream, i ussually instantly forget it, but these 3 dreams I had in the passed year have planted themselves in my head as almost real life experiences. DREAM 1 - About a year ago from this time, i dreamt that planet Earth has been invaded as me, friends, and other random people ran, fight, and do whatever we could do to survive. The invaders were part of the "Grey" species and emotionlessly came after me killing everyone i was with one by one. It actually ended with me as the last survivor and running away. I dont remember all the details as clear and didnt really get any messages from it but it still stuck to me. After doing research on the record high ufo sightings and the different theories of 2012, i qualified some alien involvement to be a major part of the overbearing events predicted to happen in the near future. DREAM 2 - I had this dream last summer and it felt even realer than the last. Nothing crazy or out of the ordinary was happening. It was me and a bunch of friends having a bbq in one of their backyards. i Spot a bright light orange saucer shaped object in the sky that apeared to be a ufo (after all the research i did on the subject and seeing all the proof, not even ufos seemed to be unordinary). I immediately zoomed in and snapped some photos. I tried to take a video but my phone was unable to film on a zoomed picture. All detailed descriptions that i remember perfect and it even contained the exact features on my phone. That same day, after waking up and moving on, i was speaking to someone and decided to show them ufo footage i got supposively the night before. Pulled out my phone really thinking i had it just to look like a nutcase when i had nothing. This dream left such a real memory imprint in my head that i made the same mistake a few more times really thinking that i had that footage. I thought i was just bugging untill i woke up this morning and went crazy going through different memory cards desperately searching for something ive never had. DREAM 3 - This very morning 1/21/2013. Im not the type of person to wake up before 12 but i instantly woke up out of bed, wide awake with that sunken chest feeling, just knowing that there has to be something behind this. In this dream, I was driving down a regular city street, I noticed another saucer style aircraft crashed in the front yard of an abandoned house. I parked and walked over with caution but more curiosity and approached it. There were circle surfaces surrounding the sides of the ship and as i got closer, the circle closest to me would glow up and give off some kind of telepathic connection that would get stronger the closer i am and weaker the further. Like i said, i had more curiosity than caution so i just kept walking towards it until the circle got brighter, so bright it blinded me. The next thing i knew, i was inside the ship and had acquainted myself to what appeared to be a beautiful white woman with light brown hair and a perfect face, body, and everything. She told me she is of a more superior space species which is like a cousin species to the human race. She was very nice and just glowed of pure joy and its like i instantly fell in love. It was amazing how much she resembled a regular human being from Earth, and on top of it she looked like a super model Ms. Universe and spoke and acted like Valedictorian of a top University. At the same time, me shocked by her greatness, she did not look at me as anything less than her. We hung out like 2 regular people, talked, hooked up, and all that good stuff. She said she had to get back to her home planet. I asked how far was it and she told me a few light years away and mentioned that her ship is only traveling at a million miles per hour. I asked if I could come with her and she just giggled, stared into my eyes, and hugged me. I woke up with my heart racing and eyes wider than ever. Im a dj and basically get all the girls i want, never the type to have to sweat them but felt more heart broken then ever in my life, wishing I could of atleast got her name first. I looked for the ufo pics and still didnt remember not having them. Then i googled aliens that look like humans and found the Pleiadians. Never heard of them before but everything i found out made this make perfect sense.

  40. QUESTION:
How do the film age ratings in America work?
    Was just a bit curious

    • ANSWER:
Prior to 1968, some large cities and states had public rating boards which determined whether films were suitable for display to the public in theatres. The United States Supreme Court in the case of Freedman v. Maryland 380 U.S. 51 (1965) effectively ended government operated rating boards when it decided that a rating board could only approve a film; it had no power to ban a film. A rating board must either approve a film within a reasonable time, or it would have to go to court to stop a film from being shown in theatres. Other court cases decided that since television stations are federally licensed, local rating boards have no jurisdiction over films shown on television. When the movie industry set up its own rating system, most state and local boards ceased operating.

      Ratings
See also: TV Parental Guidelines, Entertainment Software Rating Board, and Film Advisory Board
In the United States, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), through the Classification and Rating Administration (CARA), issues ratings for movies. The system was instituted in November 1968 and is voluntary; however, most movie theater chains will not show unrated domestic films and most major studios have agreed to submit all titles for rating prior to theatrical release. Most films will have the MPAA insignia at the end of the closing credits. Earlier films that had full opening credits such as The Poseidon Adventure would bear the insignia in the opening.

The ratings (as of 2012) are:

      AC - Adult content
      AL - Adult Language
G – General Audiences – All Ages Admitted. There is no content that would be objectionable to most parents. These films may contain mildly rude language (i.e., a character saying "Shut up!") but no swearing. As with violence it must be mild and minimal, if any, without any blood or gore. This is one of only two ratings dating back to 1968 that still exists today.
      N - Nudity
PG – Parental Guidance Suggested – Some Material May Not Be Suitable For Children. These films are generally inappropriate for young children and may contain milder swear words, crude or suggestive humor, short and infrequent horror moments and/or mild violence. Usually no drug use is acceptable in this category, except for tobacco smoking (though this is being phased out due to anti-smoking protests that target television shows and films for condoning and glamorizing smoking). Topless men may be present but topless women are not usually acceptable unless in an educational or scientific context or if the nudity is only shown briefly. A few racial insults may also be heard. Before the creation of PG-13, many "PG" films (e.g. Jaws and Watership Down) included explicit bloody violence. Content such as this helped lead to the creation of the "PG-13" rating.

  42. QUESTION:
Why are doctors arrogant and unhelpful to people with bowel problems?
So back in April 2012, I went to the doctor to tell him that "I think I have IBS" because I was having abdominal pain after eating certain food and less frequent stool(hard and round) in the toilet. I told the doctor that I was worried because I often had to strain hard in order to get the feces out. But the doctor just said "it's nothing, you don't have IBS" and he put me on Buscopan Forte for 3 weeks.

Within 3 weeks my symptoms of abdominal pain and constipation worsened so I went back to the doctor to tell him what had happened. The doctor told me to take 3 day worth of stool sample to the pathologist for testing.

While I was told do this, he STILL did not prescribing me any laxatives for my constipation. While I was waiting for the results of the stool test, I was still constantly going to the bathroom and having to strain to get the feces out. During this time, I felt my lower abdomen dropping down and my rectum popping out while I was straining on the toilet. This was when I developed rectal prolapse.

Further 3 weeks later, the result of the stool came back as negative and the doctor smirked at me and said "everything came back as negative, see you are fine". I became upset and asked him angrily "than why am I still getting constipation and stomach pain then?" I was upset because this was the third appointment with the doctor of me complaining about my stomach pain and constipation. And he was about to dismiss me just because the stool sample came back as negative.

The doctor finally looked at me seriously and said "Okay, I'll take a look at an X-ray of your stomach then". 1 week later, he saw that I had a Impacted Colon on the X-ray film and FINALLY prescribed me with stimulant laxatives. But by then it was too late because I had already developed rectal prolapse which can only be fixed through surgery.

So I went back to the doctor again to tell him that I think I have prolapse because "my rectum comes out of my anus when I strain". But the doctor just ignored me and changed the subject and said "keep taking stimulant laxatives and see if you get better".

5 months later, I had an Colonoscopy and I was finally diagnosed with IBS. But I had to show the picture of my prolapse in order to convince the gastroenterologist that I have a rectal prolapse because they couldn't find it during a colonoscopy.

So I knew that I had a IBS, constipation and prolapse since April last year. But it wasn't until last week that doctors finally acknowledge that I have IBS and rectal prolapse.

I think my rectal prolapse could've been prevented if it didn't take the doctor 2 MONTHS to prescribe me laxatives for my constipation. Why are doctors so arrogant and unhelpful to patients with bowel problems?

  44. QUESTION:
What ever happen to that little dude who starred in that movie Simon Birch?
    is he still alive today?

    • ANSWER:
Ian Michael Smith (born May 5, 1987) is an American actor, known for his starring role in Simon Birch. His short physical stature 3 ft 1 in (0.94 m) is a result of Morquio syndrome, a rare enzymatic disorder affecting the circulatory, muscular and skeletal systems.

A Chicago area hospital worker had approached the parents of young Ian Smith about his auditioning for the leading role in a soon-to-be-filmed motion picture. Like Smith, the film's hero has Morquio Syndrome. The Smiths were concerned about exploitation but after reading the novel on which the film was based agreed to allow their son to audition. Although he eventually lost out on that role (the film was The Mighty and Kieran Culkin landed the part), Smith was recommended for another role in a film based on a novel. This time, his audition tape won over the director and the novice was hired to essay the title role of Simon Birch (1998), suggested by John Irving's "A Prayer for Owen Meany". Because of his height, Smith was the perfect choice to play Simon, described as having been so small when he was born his mother didn't even notice the delivery. The novice actor proved a natural before the cameras and impressed some reviewers who found the film itself treacly and sentimental.

Ian is a 2005 graduate of York Community High School, located in Elmhurst, Illinois.

Ian has undergone several operations including a spinal fusion and two bilateral osteotomies. He also has a brother, Brian. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2009. Recently, he graduated from Gallaudet University in 2012.

    • ANSWER:
It is shameless film marketing. Seriously, if you have to scare people to the point that they think their lives are in danger, just so you can sell movie tickets, your film must really, really suck.

A friend of mine recently posted this on another website, because one commenter sounded frightened by it:

Here's the deal: The IHC is a marketing gimmick for Sony Pictures' "2012" which is coming out in November.

"SPDE" is "Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment".

Now, bring up that website. After the flash loads, scroll down to the bottom of that page, and look over to the left... it says "(c) 2009 Sony Pictures". Over just to the right of center it says "Explore the 2012 movie experience"

On the page is a message about the "election" from "Soren Ulfert". If you click on the 'Election' tab you are taken to a page where they say that the "winner" will not only receive the honorary title of "Leader of the Post-2012 World" but also a trip to Cancun!

At the top of the "Election" page it mentions a few names, like "waitress like Cynthia of Miami, Florida; a farmer like Bill of Warren County, Illinois; or a fledgling novelist like Jackson Curtis of Los Angeles, California."

"Jackson Curtis" is the lead character of the 2012 movie, played by John Cusack.

Back on the main page, one of the "press releases" mentions "Adrian Helmsley" being named a science advisor. "Adrian Helmsley" is also a character from the movie.

The look is pretty decent. Looks like the original Godzilla, and it's 10x better than Roland Emmerich's design. Since it's Legendary Pictures; I think they will treat Godzilla fairly. :)

  49. QUESTION:
What equipment do I need to play blu-ray/hd dvd's on my PC?
I already know that my PC is poweful enough, and it has pleanty of memory. All I need to know is what equipment is needed for the PC.
    IE Graphics card, screen, etc...

    • ANSWER:
If you're saying your computer is powerful enough using the Cyberlink Advisor, ignore it, Blu-ray Discs, especially and HD DVD's can't be played using Pentium 4's and using low graphics cards, there are a lot of issues rather than just buying a screen, and attempting to play Blu-ray using single core CPU.

Firstly, even though you think it is powerful enough, check again, you will need one of these CPU's to play Blu-ray discs with the reccomended graphics cards that I'll specify below (NOTE I AM STATING THIS BY EXPERIENCE, AS I HAVE A BLU DRIVE, AND I ENCOUNTED A LOT OF PROBLEMS

      Intel(R) Pentium(R) D 945 3.4GHz or higher
      NO EXCEPTIONS
Intel(R) Pentium(R) Extreme Edition at 3.4GHz or higher 9XX series.
      Intel(R) Core 2 Duo e6300 at 1.8GHz or higher
AMD Athlon X2 4400+ or higher
Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual Core at 2GHz or higher
      Intel(R) Core(R) Duo at 2.16GHz or higher

These CPU's can play Blu-ray Discs slutter free using any of these graphics cards:
ATi Radeon HD 2400 XT (Pro edition can play at 720P, XT reccomended)
      ATi Radeon HD 2600
Nvidia 8500 series or Nvidia 8600 series
ATi Radeon HD 3400 and 3600 seriies
Also possible with these GPU's with high CPU % and minimal frame dropping:
      ATi Radeon HD 2900
      Nvidia 8800 series
      Nvidia 7950 X2
(Possible with the above CPU's but high CPU percentages will be present unlike above cards)

If you use one of these CPU's you can use any of these the below specified graphics cards to play Blu-ray Discs, although high CPU usages will be present (in the 80- 99%).
Intel(R) Core 2 Duo at 2.4GHz (frame dropping might occur at some points in H.264 films lke X MEN 3)
      Intel(R) Core 2 Duo at 2.66GHz (reccommended)
      AMD Athlon X2 5800+

With these CPU's you can use any of the graphics cards mentioned below:
ATi Radeon X1600 series (Not Reccommended, 720P limitation, frames may drop at higher resolutions)
      ATi Radeon x1800
      ATi Radeon X1950
Nvidia 7600 or higher supporting PureVideo Technology

If you plan on using no graphics accelerator, (aka sticking with intregated graphics) one of these will be required:
Intel(R) Core 2 Duo at 3GHz or higher (high CPU percentages will be present sometimes reaching the high 90's)
      Intel(R) Core 2 Quad
      Intel(R) Core 2 Extreme
      AMD Athlon X2 6000+

Now, check, does you system meet does requirements.
Now for you monitor, generally a monitor with a resolution above 1280 x 1024 will be sufficiant for a 720P resolution. Since computer screens are small, there is no need to buy an expensive 1080P monitor, as the difference will be barely noticiable.

Now, the sticky DRM issues. Your monitor must be HDCP COMPLIANT (not compatible), and your graphics card must also be HDCP COMPLIANT to watch it over a digital (DVI) connection. Some graphics cards may be compatible with HDCP, but it is up to the manufacturer to put the expensive CRYPTO ROM into the graphics card. If one of it's not you'll have to watch it over it over an analogue VGA or Component connection. These connections will be fine until 2010, or 2012 at the latest, as there is a reported agreement to hold of the Image Constraint Token of Blu ray and HD DVD discs until the following dates. It is illegal in Japan until 2011, so it's not a huge issue, as this is a long time for hardware. Anyway Fox, Sony Pictures, Disney, Paramount, and Universal have announched they have no plans to use it. No discs have been made using it, except a few German discs, where it was revieled it was accidently turned on.

So that's it, for memory actually 512MB is enough, it's not a huge worry. Now check wheither you computer is actually does meet these requirements - these aren't from the top of my head, I did a lot of research, and I read from Annadteck, that not even a Core 2 at 2.4GHz could decode a H.264 a high bitrade movie with out hitting 100% most of the time (the movie was X MEN 3). Also on my setup, on my Pentium D at 3.6Ghz couldn't play a high bitrate H.264 movie without a bit of sluttering at a few places. When I upgraded to a HD 2400XT it played at the 20% mark!!!! Don't even bother with the Pentium 4's , even with the ATi HD 2400/2600 which have a dedicated decoder for VC1 and H.264 they won't handle the high bit rate MPEG 2 movies. Celeron's are just OUT OF THE QUESTION!!!!

Do your research, before buying a Blu-ray drive, hope this helps, and good luck.

  50. QUESTION:
Is The Secret World of Arrietty in English?
I've heard that it is a spectacular movie but I want to know whether there are English dubs for it, and if there are, are they any good? I'm perfectly fine with reading the subs, but I want to watch it with my family and I'm not too sure if they'd like to read off the screen.
    @Mamy

Alright, there is a NA release. But are there English dubs? If there are, are they any good? Or am I better off watching the Japanese version?

    • ANSWER:
      Hi,

      yes:

Two English language versions of the film were produced, a British dub produced by Studio Canal which was released in the United Kingdom on July 29, 2011, and an American dub released by Walt Disney Pictures in North America on February 17, 2012.

IMO, however, unless you're watching the movie with very small children who can't read subtitles, watching movies in their original language is way better.

Great movie, pure Ghibli spirit...have fun!
