  3. QUESTION:
Is there going to be a pirates of the caribben 5?

    • ANSWER:
In short...yes. The franchise is still going strong and making money, they would never stop making a franchise this successful.

      http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1790809/
      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Without Johnny Depp would -- or should or could -- the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies even continue? That's the big question on deck after a recent article from The Hollywood Reporter.

With "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" just a few weeks away from release, the publication spoke with Depp, who has played the now-iconic Captain Jack Sparrow in the wildly successful films since 2003, about the future of the franchise and his place in it. They report that not only has Terry Rossio already turned in a script for a fifth "Pirates" movie which Disney wants to make in 3D, but producer Jerry Bruckheimer is a go again.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walt Disney Pictures certainly understands the value of striking while the iron is hot; the fourth installment in its swashbuckling ride-turned-blockbuster series, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, is a surefire smash (when it hits theaters in two weeks) so work on Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is already well underway.

Screenwriter Terry Rossio (working without his usual Pirates co-writer, Ted Elliot) has handed in his first draft of the script for a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean flick – however, the key ingredient to the Pirates formula (Johnny Depp) isn’t ready to push ahead with the next chapter just yet.

The early response to On Stranger Tides‘ standalone narrative structure has been positive enough to convince producer Jerry Bruckheimer that all future Pirates pics should follow suit. That means no more story arcs being covered over the course of multiple films (a la the second and third Pirates movies) and presumably no more grueling back-to-back shooting schedules.
Judging by Depp’s comments to THR about Pirates of the Caribbean 5, that’ll suit him fine. While the actor has yet to read Rossio’s script for the project, that’s seemingly not due to a lack of interest in making a fifth Pirates venture. As he put it:

“It boils down to story, script and filmmaker… It’s not something where I would say, ‘Let’s shoot it next month to get it out by Christmas 2012. We should hold off for a bit. They should be special, just like they are special to me.”

But what about Depp? He told THR the decision for him to take part in the fifth, yet-to-be-titled "Pirates," "Boils down to story, script and filmmaker." In fact, it sounded like there was some reluctance on the actor's part to sign on immediately. "It's not something where I would say, 'Let's shoot it next month to get it out by Christmas 2012," he said, adding, "We should hold off for a bit. They should be special, just like they are special to me."

This raises some big question marks. What would Disney do if Depp said no? Would they dare continue "Pirates" without him in Captain Jack's boots? Would fans jump ship if he did, too? Shiver me timbers, it's too much to think about.

  4. QUESTION:
Any plans for Star Wars 7
Now that Lucas Film has already completed the 6 series of Star Wars, are they prepared to do the 7? When will it be?
I always hope they do a Star Wars that tie it with planet Earth. After all, all the Star Wars movie events happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

    • ANSWER:
Short Answer: NO ... end of story!!

      Long Answer:

When Lucas first came up with the idea for "Star Wars" he envisioned it as a 12 part story that would be told in a similar fashion as the old Flash Gordon series. It didn't take him long to realize it wouldn't work that way so it got cut down to a 9 part story. The first trilogy was to be about the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker. The second trilogy was to be about the rise of Luke Skywalker and the redemption of Anakin Skywalker. The third trilogy was to be about the "other" Skywalker that Yoda mentions in The Empire Strikes Back.

A little known fact is that up until Lucas was almost done writing the script for ep VI Leia was NOT the "other Skywalker". Lucas got stumped on what he could have Vader say to Luke near the end of their duel that would make Luke attack his father in a dark side fueled rage. To solve this problem he made Leia the "other Skywalker" and had Vader threaten her. This change did two things: 1) Made a lot of fans go "eewwww" ... he kissed his sister ... on the lips ... twice; 2) It eliminated the third trilogy. Lucas has many times stated that the story he wanted to tell has been told. If you watch the "extras" disk that comes with the DVD set of the OT you hear him say this many times. He says it in a 60Minutes interview he did shortly after the release of ep III. In that interview he is asked two or three times if there will be anymore new movies and if he would let someone else pick up where he left off and make more movies ... his answer each time is that same ... NO. History has showed us that Lucas changes his mind with the wind direction sometimes and a statement made over 2 years ago is suspect except for one thing ... his answer has never changed ... it is always a flat out NO. If you think about it it is a big accomplishment for the man.

As for somebody picking up the story and taking it forward after Lucas dies ... NO is the answer to that question also no matter what anybody else says. This "rumor" and the other "juicy" one that seems to be making its way around the net right now, the one where somebody says they ran into Lucas on a beach somewhere and he told him that he was going to make ep 7 - 9 but that he was going to start them until after 2012, can be traced back to the insane ramblings of Mickey Suttle and his fraud site supershadow.com. This guy is a grade A number 1 fraud and "whack" job ... how he stays out of a padded room I'll never know. This guy is so far gone that he has even faked up hundreds of emails, that he has posted on his site, that are supposed to be conversations between him and Lucas ... they are all pure fiction. Mickey also claims to be an "insider" at LucasFilm and good "buddies" with George himself. Neither of those claims are true either. The only people that he knows from LucasFilm are the lawyers because he has been slapped with so many "get that crap off your site before we crush you like the bug you are" suits that nobody even knows the total anymore.

That being said there is a new Star Wars movie coming out on August 15th this year. It is a full feature animated movie. It will be set in between ep II & ep III and tell the story of the many battles of the Clone Wars that we have never heard about before. One thing that needs to be made CRYSTAL CLEAR is that this movie is NOT a new "episode" of the saga ... it is a fill in the blanks kind of story that will tell us a lot about the many battles of the Clone Wars that we know nothing about. This movie will also be the kickoff of a new animated series on the cartoon network set to debut this fall after the release of the movie. Some people have come on here claiming that this new movie and series are a "remake" of the micro-series that ran on the cartoon network in 2003 & 2004 ... it's not ... it adds to the story. Here's a couple of links to trailers and info about the new movie and series:

Lucas is also working on a live action TV show set to debut in the fall of 2010. It will be set in between ep III & ep IV and will tell the story of how the Rebel Alliance was formed and their many battles with the Empire leading up to the events of ep IV.

May The Force Be With You ...

      EDIT:

To "peyt" : I've seen some wrong answers before but this takes the freaking cake ...

"i think clone wars comes out next week, is it a prequel to the six films"

How the hell could the new movie be a prequel to the 6 films when the Clone Wars didn't start until the end of ep II.

To "Pacifist Warmonger": Cool Id name ... your answer on the other hand ... "he very nearly destroyed his own legacy with the Episode 1 and 2 fiascos" ... now how did he do that ... just because ep 1 & 2 weren't what YOU thought they should be about. I just love you "fans" who blast the prequels but don't have brain enough to say why ... no, they sucked, is NOT a valid reason. Sure, ep I & II were subpar in most fans views but "destroyed his own legacy" ... give me a break ... even though it was the movie that most people hate of the 6, ep I still pulled in just over a BILLION dollars in world wide box office receipts ... sure looks like a flop to me ... NOT...

EDIT AGAIN: A tie in with the planet Earth ... are we in the Twilight Zone or am I the only sane person awake right now.

  6. QUESTION:
Is moving to LA to become an actor a Good Idea?
hi I'm 13 and I a rookie lol I live in Miami and I am represeted by a manager and agent. I would like to move to la after my contract experies that way I can have experience in a smaller market. I have acting classes and theatre productions and a short film but my resume will hopefully be much better then that after the two years. I'm blessed to have a wonderful manager and agent thatbecause of their connection when I go down there I will have a agent and manager already because they are affiliated with them. Not a scam agency trust me I didn't pay anything and they are sag-aftra affiliated. I want to ask you guys if it is a good idea. How is the competition down there ,how often do you get work, etc as much info as possible. If I'm missing a step please tell me that way I can do it before going down there. Please be as realistic as possible I want the real deal but please no mean comments. Also tell me what I can do to look more impressive and more professional on my resume. Please answer I'm sure when you were all rookie you would have wanted someone to tell you this. Please and thanks
Sorry I ment to say that way I will already have experience in a smaller market and take it to a larger one (LA)

    • ANSWER:
LA is extremely competitive. You'll have an advantage if you already have an agent and/or manager in LA when you move - but it will still be hard. There are more jobs in LA - but there are a lot more kids who want to be actors in LA (and a lot of those kids have parents already in the industry).

Here's some information about the odds of children working in LA:from the bizparentz.com website. (It's a non-profit website for parents of children in the industry):

      "How many pilots are made?
Traditionally, about 100 pilots are made each year, but the number varies each year. Here's a look:
2007 -- the number was approximately 140, including reality shows, talk shows and all of cable. Scripted shows were still about 100.

2009 -- only 73 scripted pilots were produced. Only 20 made it to the fall schedule, and of those, only 5 shows had series regular roles for children.

2010 -- the number of pilots inched up to 110 including all of cable. Only 50 of those got picked up, and only 10 had series regular roles for children.

2011 -- 132 pilots were produced, including all cable channels like Disney and Nickelodeon. 83 were done by the major 4 networks. Of the 132 total, 63 of them got picked up, but 6 were quickly cancelled. That's 57 new shows left on TV as of January 2012. Of those, only 11 shows had series regular roles for children--including the new Disney and Nick shows.

Keep in mind that a pilot is only a test. Most never see the light of your television screen. Even among those that get picked up, most don't get to produce a whole season because they are cancelled. In the end, there were really only 11 shows that used kids.

How many kids are in LA?

LA Casting, the commercial casting service used by Los Angeles Agents, there are more than 20,000 kids under 18, with agents, auditioning in LA year round. The number swells to about 21,360 during pilot season, adding 320 more boys and 800 more girls. That means you'll be competing against approximately 1,500 children in your age range (ex. Girls 10-13 years old).

What are the odds of a NEW kid getting cast as a series regular in a pilot?

Almost zip. By fall 2011, only 11 new series had a series regular who was a child. That's a total of about 25 kids who got new series regular roles, including the Disney and Nick shows. Almost all those children had significant credits and many years in the business prior to booking the pilot. That has been the case consistently since 2006. Usually, just one new child beats the odds and makes it through to a full time job.

By our estimate, about 95% of kids coming for pilot season go home empty handed. They don't book anything. The other 5% book something, but it is usually a commercial, a student film or a low-budget independent film. T

The trend in 2010 and 2011 was to hire established actors, often hiring actors who were already working on another series. This is called "second position" casting, meaning they will hire the actor if their first commitment doesn't work out (their current series is cancelled or their first position pilot isn't picked up to series). It's a trend that isn't good for new actors, although it is safer bet for producers." (Source: http://www.bizparentz.org/thebizness/pilotseason.html )

I'm not saying you shouldn't try - just giving you some information.

      Good luck.

2.Skit / Short Movie – Have a funny idea in your head? Write out a rough script, and make it a short film!

3.Artsy – Do you like to paint, draw, make crafts, or create in general? Make a video of you MAKING something! People love watching these videos, as many other artists like being inspired.

4.Talk about art – Even if you can’t paint a nice portrait, if art interests you enough to read about it, why don’t you talk about different types of art? Other art enthusiasts, fans, and students will watch your video if it is simple, sweet, to the point, AND informative.

5.Music – Do you sing? Maybe you play the piano or guitar? Maybe you even make beats! Anything related to music, you can either post a video of you singing or playing an instrument, or even just post your song with some album artwork as an image for the entire video.

8.Tutorials – Is there something that you know how to do that other people WISH they could do? Make a video on HOW to do it (make steps, like step 1 – step 2 – etc.).

9.Parody – Are you funny? Can you make something funny? Make a parody video, music video, or skit about an event, celebrity, song, and make it funny, and people will watch it, AND share it.

10.Music Video – Whether it is a parody, or your own music, or just something funny, make a cool music video that is creative, and post it!

  12. QUESTION:
If I'm just going to Die Alone anyway, why shouldn't I kill myself and get it over with.........?
Hey everyone - I'm 19 and I live at home with my Dad, who - due to an injury in Iraq - has extreme short-term memory loss (If you want him to remember something, you've LITERALLY got to tell him every five minutes, for a few.....days), helping my Step-Mom take care of my 8-year-old brother and 4-year-old sister. MY15-year-old sister constantly screams at me, but I try to ignore it - anywho, I'm currently on eHarmony (though all of the HUNDREDS OF GIRLS I've tried to communicate with have not talked to me) and I'm wondering if there's a specific kind of girl in a specific kind of place I should be looking for? I basically have my own apartment in my Dad's Basement - carpet, a bathroom, a fridge/fishtank/bed, and such - and I'm wondering what kind of girl, specifically, would like me? I like Horro, Sci-Fi, and Video Games; I've recently finished an Autobiographical Novel, to add to my 6 finished short stories, 2 finished Scripts and 3 finished TV Pilots. I've got 3 other TV Pilots, 3 other Novels and a few articles for Cracked.com underway (I write under 2 psuedonyms and actively send things out for publishing) and I'm always full of ideas and such forth - I'm wondeirng, what with being a little on the thin/young side - what kind of girl should I try for? I'm not settling for a girl I can't call 'Adorable' - but that's only because I was turned down by so many ugly girls, and I decided if I had to wait this long ,it was going to be something worth waiting for. So tell me - who should I be searching for? Who would like me?

I know I sound like the Creepy, Hideous, Weird, Sad and Freak/Loser everybody in High School (And I mean LITERALLY EVERYBODY) always said I was - but I jsut read a post on a dating website by a guy who was 56 and never had a girlfriend - can someone help?

I asked this before, but some jerk said I "needed to connect to positive people to destroy that weird/freaky side". Horror, Sci-Fi and VideoGames/Heavy MEtal are not negative in any way whatsoever. If I really am creepy, hideous, etc. Then Ican't change that. I can't destroy my personality; it's what I have.

  13. QUESTION:
    why was spiderman 4 cancelled?
also in the reboot will jk simons be recast as j Jonah Jameson he was perfect in that role

    • ANSWER:
Sam Raimi told the studio today he wouldn't be able to complete the film on their terms, and rather than replacing Raimi, the studio decided to cancel the project outright.

Instead they'll be moving forward with a reboot of the franchise, based on a script by Jamie Vanderbilt, who wrote the screenplay for David Fincher's Zodiac, oddly enough. The entire original cast, including Tobey Maguire, is out, and apparently Maguire isn't that upset to see the franchise go: "He's made 3 great Spider-Man movies. He's done really well. But he's the kind of guy who, if Sam wanted to go forward, would have been there for Sam and the studio. Absolutely."

There's no official word from Sony beyond one very short tweet: "Spider-Man: Summer 2012: Peter Parker is going back to high school when the next Spider-Man hits theaters in the summer of 2012."

It's stunning to see a project this gigantic fall apart this way, especially after weeks of very public negotiations about the franchise's future and what seemed to be Sam Raimi's continued passion for the project. There's no telling how good an idea Spider-Man 4 really would have been, but I'm really not sure about a full franchise reboot. I'm sure we'll be writing about this plenty in the weeks to come, but right off the bat, the notion of rebooting a hugely successful franchise not even 10 years after the first film debuted is, uh, questionable at best. We'll bring you more news as it comes in.

UPDATE: Below is Sony's official press release, in which they confirm the summer 2012 release date. It's mostly corporate speak and smiling through gritted teeth:

Culver City, CA (January 11, 2010) -- Peter Parker is going back to high school when the next Spider-Man hits theaters in the summer of 2012. Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios announced today they are moving forward with a film based on a script by James Vanderbilt that focuses on a teenager grappling with both contemporary human problems and amazing super-human crises.

The new chapter in the Spider-Man franchise produced by Columbia, Marvel Studios and Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin, will have a new cast and filmmaking team. Spider-Man 4 was to have been released in 2011, but had not yet gone into production.

“A decade ago we set out on this journey with Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire and together we made three Spider-Man films that set a new bar for the genre. When we began, no one ever imagined that we would make history at the box-office and now we have a rare opportunity to make history once again with this franchise. Peter Parker as an ordinary young adult grappling with extraordinary powers has always been the foundation that has made this character so timeless and compelling for generations of fans. We’re very excited about the creative possibilities that come from returning to Peter's roots and we look forward to working once again with Marvel Studios, Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin on this new beginning,” said Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

“Working on the Spider-Man movies was the experience of a lifetime for me. While we were looking forward to doing a fourth one together, the studio and Marvel have a unique opportunity to take the franchise in a new direction, and I know they will do a terrific job,” said Sam Raimi.

“We have had a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration and friendship with Sam and Tobey and they have given us their best for the better part of the last decade. This is a bittersweet moment for us because while it is hard to imagine Spider-Man in anyone else’s hands, I know that this was a day that was inevitable,” said Matt Tolmach, president of Columbia Pictures, who has served as the studio’s chief production executive since the beginning of the franchise. “Now everything begins anew, and that’s got us all tremendously excited about what comes next. Under the continuing supervision of Avi and Laura, we have a clear vision for the future of Spider-Man and can’t wait to share this exciting new direction with audiences in 2012.”

"Spider-Man will always be an important franchise for Sony Pictures and a fresh start like this is a responsibility that we all take very seriously," said Michael Lynton, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures. "We have always believed that story comes first and story guides the direction of these films and as we move onto the next chapter, we will stay true to that principle and will do so with the highest respect for the source material and the fans and moviegoers who deserve nothing but the best when it comes to bringing these stories and characters to life on the big screen."

The studio will have more news about Spider-Man in 2012 in the coming weeks as it prepares for production of the film.
AS FOR Jonah Jameson AT THIS TIME THEY HAS NOT SAID IF THEY WERE WAS GOING TO KEEP HIM OR LET HIM GO.

  14. QUESTION:
Is there going to be a Halo movie?
I know there was suposed to be a Halo movie in 2008 but it got cancelled and was changed to District 9, but i heard there going to try again and the Halo movie is coming 2012. Thats what all my friends are telling me. It even has it's own IMDB page.

Is this really going to happen, because i really want it to. Halo is the best FPS, FUCK Call of Duty, that overrated peice of shit.

I know video games movies have a history of sucking ass hole, but anything is possible. District 9 was pretty goddamn impressive and even though it was a VG movie, it still started out as one.

So yeah i thought it wood be cool if the Rock could be Master Chief, and that he didn't have to wear a helmet. And Johnson should be Chris Tucker because he's one funny mother fucker. And i really dont care about any other characters. What do you gay boys think?

    • ANSWER:
The Halo movie will not be out next year. It stopped production in the very earliest stages of development, and at most maybe got as far as a few scripts. It did not become the movie District 9. Supposedly, the studio hired Neil Blomkamp to direct the movie, but then decided against continuing production for the time since it would be Blomkamp's first major picture. Peter Jackson then gave Blomkamp the opportunity to instead begin production on any movie he wanted to make, and he chose a feature length film based on his short movie "Alive in Joburg."

The owners of the rights to the Halo movie say that a movie is inevitable and will begin *eventually,* but no one has any idea when.

  15. QUESTION:
Three quick questions easy what do you all think?
First one isnt so serious, but do you guys think Maya Rudolph is attractive id had a little crush on her ever since she started on SNL in 2000. I mean I really have a thing for Maya Rudolph. Which plays into my next question:

How do I get cast onto SNL? I figure once I finish comedy and improv training let my agent contact them but I dont know.

    And lastly....

Im going to be in an independent film in the summer of 2012. Ive never done a movie before and I want to look really good and professional, my only concern is my memory, I shouldnt be required to memorize a 95min script in order right? I can go scene by scene right. I mean its no different then a play right?

    • ANSWER:
      1) Maya is adorable, so i understand your attraction.
      2) SNL is incredibly selective on who they cast. They scout major comedy clubs in New York and L.A. and I think Chicago as well. Also, those who they are looking at have to have a large background in acting. If you go to the SNL FAQ website, they answer all the questions people have about auditions and casting.

and 3) if you're director and AD are professionals, they will have a call sheet distributed letting you know what scenes will be shot on what days so you can memorize the script accordingly. 99% of all films, whether short, indie or feature, are filmed out of sequence. So you will not be required to memorize the entire thing to go into shooting. But, give yourself a decent amount of time between getting the script and shooting to understand your role and your character. Read the script front to back over and over and over so you know exactly what its about inside and out. And so you know exactly who your character is and what they are like. There's nothing like going into a shoot and butchering the character. KNOW YOUR MATERIAL.

Hope this helps and good job on getting that role!!
