I have been using McAfee and it has worked fine so far,but my 3 month subscription is over and I need to get some input on whether I should re-up with McAfee or go with another alltogether? Thank you. I use my computer mainly for surfing and watching streaming movies.

    • ANSWER:
Go with AVG its free and the best.
You also need other protection if your on the net.
(do not use 2 antivirus at the same time as they will see each other as viruses and cause problems)
You can and should use all of the following.

I use all of the following Free software with Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer with MSN toolbar and the pop-up blocker turned on and have never had a single problem with my computer sense Microsoft came out with SP2. (knock on wood.) (And be sure to keep Windows and the following software Updated)

The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. (www.grisoft.com)

The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html)<--English version AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com) AND Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.info/kb/) The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just (www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version. These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can. ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually. The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. 5. QUESTION:
Where can I find the Danish movie Broderskab streaming free online?
I would love to see this movie but am having a hard time finding it in movie rental places around here. Anyone know how I could watch it online with English subs?

    • ANSWER:
Searched everywhere I know and can't find anywhere to stream it, without signing up, and even then, only found 1or 2. I don't like the sign up option, as it can open you up to adware and spam, etc. Netflix does have it available, if you want to go that route. I would use Netflix, but I prefer to stream movies and it doesn't support my OS. (W2K) Yes that bothers me!....Hope that helps!

  6. QUESTION:
Where can you watch movies online for free?
Alot of sites have poor quality, are id different language, or have chinese sub titles. so what website has good quality movies in english with no subtitles?

    • ANSWER:
Download DivX (divx.com - its just a player like flash to watch movies) and go to the link my my sources. I personally own the site and I can guarantee that only interesting, higher-quality movies are put on the site. I take sources from all over the internet onto my site and filter out all the junk you find on other sites.

The site is also updated daily, provided that more good content is available. As an added bonus, I don't have pop-up OR pop-under ads on my site. I got sick of being spammed with ads when I visited other similar sites, so I decided not to include anything but passive ads.

I provide streaming (watch over the internet), download, torrent, and information links. I'll even take requests for movies and seek out movies just for my visitors, just hit the 'contact us' link. :) Have fun~!

  7. QUESTION:
Do the download movies from Netflix have English subtitles available?
I am not asking about the DVD rentals. I'm asking if I download movies from Netflix, will they have English subtitles/CC like they do on DVD's? Jimobasa: I mean watching it on PC from their website. I'm not referring to any illegal activity. I've already read the subscription plan.

  10. QUESTION:
What is a good book i can use to learn german?
I want to learn geerman, I only speak english and some spanish. I do not want to pay for rosetta stone or use the internet for german, so do u know of a good book that would help me learn german?
    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
In order to learn the language successfully you really need to use a whole range of resources, so don't rule out the internet just yet. I can understand why you wouldn't want to use Rosetta Stone though, because it's really expensive.

Check out where the closest German Embassy is to you, and if there's one nearby, contact them about learning German (you'll be able to find them on the internet and contact them through their website). And as another answerer said, you'll also want to think about taking classes through the Goethe Institute. If you go to school or university you could also see if you are able to take it there, or you could try and find a German class near you. You can't realistically expect to learn the language for free, but since you're obviously looking to buy some stuff to help your learning, I suppose you know this.

I take German at University and we use a textbook called Kontakte: A Communicative Approach and the accompanying write-in book, but it's expensive and I really don't like it all that much. Buy yourself a good German-English dictionary, a grammar book (this will be really helpful and you won't regret it - they're normally not too expensive either), and then try and find a good book to use. If you have a look on Amazon (just type in "learn German" or something) then most of them will have reviews down the bottom, so if you find one that has good reviews, looks good and is in your price range, then you can purchase it through there. Also have a look at your local book stores so you can see if they have anything that would be helpful that you could actually look at physically to make an educated decision about.

Watch as many German movies and television shows as possible, and listen to as much German music and radio as you can as well. This http://www.global-itv.com/ has German television channels and this http://www.listenlive.eu/germany.html has live-streaming German radio stations. I really like the kids channel lolz. It's hilarious, and the speech is simple and easy to understand when you're a beginner.

Have a look at these websites anyway, can't hurt to try, can it? And you can use them to supplement your learning. It'll really help you on the pronunciation front.
      http://www.myhappyplanet.com/
      http://www.busuu.com/
      http://www.rocketlanguages.com/german/premium/german.php?hop=ahmad82pkn
      http://www.dw-world.de/dw/0,,2547,00.html
      http://www.livemocha.com/
      http://www.mangolanguages.com/

This one is the one I use the most, because you download a program from the front page (free and small) and then you download lists from the website, selecting the lists you want going by what you want to learn first, and it will test you on those lists in the form of flash cards. It also says the word aloud for you, so you can repeat after it and then type in your answer. It does both English to German and German to English. I really like it.
      http://www.byki.com/

And this is a wonderful German dictionary (better than using some shitty, unreliable online translator) if you can't afford to buy a hard copy of one: http://dict.tu-chemnitz.de/

Good luck with the language learning, sorry I wasn't able to recommend you any books as you asked but hopefully this'll help you a little anyway :)

  11. QUESTION:
Where can I watch Yossi and Jagger with english sub online?
Youtube doesn't have it and google video has it but not with english subtitle.
Anyone know where I can find it?
Preferably stream and not download but if it's the only option I'll download it.
    Please leave a link, ty.

PS. I also posted this in the movie section, but decided to also post it in the LGBT section since it's more likely you have seen this movie (because of it's contents) than the people in the movie section.

    • ANSWER:
It's available both on DVD and streaming from Netflix if you have the right hardware and a subscription. (You can get a free 2-week trial).

  12. QUESTION:

It is easier to understand for them, when they saw the movie in English then in Spanish, because they relate the words.

  13. QUESTION:
What are the meanings of the following specific symbols in Donnie Darko?
the ones I'm wondering about are:
the red swirl on the jet engine
the man in the red jogging suit
    cherita chen
    cellar door
    Donnie's science teacher
    Donnie's english teacher
and of course, Frank the bunny
Also: Was Donnie the Living Receiver or the Manipulated Living? Why? and what does that make Frank, and why?
I'm not asking for literal meaning. I hope that was implied, although last time I asked this, in another category, the answerer gave me literal answers.

    • ANSWER:
red swirl = Donnie's brains (eyeball actually) on a bullet, which is what the jet engine symbolizes

red jogging suit= I'm not sure, but possibly an angel who observes what time lines need to be repaired (I'd have to see it again)

cherita chen is, like Donnie, also contemplating suicide, or is working out her fate in purgatory after committing suicide, or has knowledge/feelings about a previous time line that has already been repaired

cellar door = ?... a back door into the hidden workings of the universe (time travel/heaven and hell), the elusive pathway to unknowable answers, the yearning we all are tormented by, the possibility of answers that will refute the meaninglessness of existence.

All grownups represent adults who knew Donnie's problems and failed to help him. Mother is distant, self absorbed. Father is too emotionally immature. English teacher is too focused on rebelling against the system and being cool (remaining one of the children). The science teacher is too concerned with keeping his job. The other teacher is too concerned with defending the system. Psychiatrist is incompetent and can't deal with her attraction to Donnie... OR they are the zombie pawns that god is using to push Donnie to fix the time stream... Besides showing how every adult in a position to help Donnie utterly failed him, I suspect there might be other symbolic interpretations; maybe the seven deadly sins hiding here, or all sides of the political forces in heaven and hell and earth. Just guessing, haven't really thought about it- don't make me watch this movie again...

Frank is Donnie's sister's boyfriend, an artist. Donnie looks up to him. He is the boy who goes for beer at the party and runs over Donnie's girl friend.

Living receiver/manipulated living = the director has selectively used quantum physics concepts to address his religious concerns. To that effect he has created this psycho-babble, whereby god is using advanced mathematics on a cosmic shuffleboard court. Many people who try to unravel this movie are caught up in defining the "science" rules in a literal sense. The truth is these are symbolic trappings to a puzzle exercise, just as the religious themes are. They are not solid quantum physics theory and should not be taken at face value. They represent free will and predetermined destiny, dressed up as science to progress the story. Unfortunately, like the concept of catholic time travel (see below), these concepts (predetermined destiny and free will) are equally flawed when applied to catholicism, in that they are given lip service but in practice there is no "choice", only one option enforced with punishment and coercion. The jet engine is symbolically a bullet from his father's gun. The tangential universe (or purgatory), begins, not when the physical anomaly, i.e. a real jet engine drops from the sky, but when he pulls the trigger. The movie is a very dark version of "It's a Wonderful Life" in reverse. Don't get me wrong it is a brilliant movie, but the math/science/time travel camp is being way too literal and accepting only those things presented on the surface. The majority of meaning in this film is symbolic and not presented literally.

Donnie Darko can be interpreted on a number of levels, and each works independently and stands on it's own, but I believe it was meant to be a contemplation of several different levels at the same time or at least is meant to keep you wondering which is the reality.

Some of the levels of interpretation:
      1. As a straight forward story of an wrongly-medicated schizophrenic boy's contemplation before suicide
      2. As a catholic form of time travel whereby the premise of infinite time lines (tangential universes) are admitted to but a narrow minded concept of a single correct time line is dispensed as dogmatic rhetoric. The director's apparent contempt for science is born out in the psychiatrist's complete incompetence and the science teacher's complete lack of conviction in the face of flawed religion. This leads me to place little stock in the director's statements about this being emphatically a time travel story (beware all magicians who are willing to show you how a trick is done-it's a sign of a really poor magician or simply more misdirection). I believe the time travel elements are simply symbols to be decoded and interpreted, like all the other levels.
      3. As a boy who commits suicide and is given a set number of days in purgatory to decide his fate (salvation or damnation). In this one his eternal destination can be interpreted either way. He either creates imagined (false) better outcomes to justify his selfish extermination leading to damnation, or he unselfishly sacrifices his life in christ-like fashion for the betterment of others leading to salvation.

Every weird occurrence and mystery is supposed to be run through each one of these many filters of possibility to come out intact at the other end with a different interpreted meaning (which is why the movie is such a clever exercise, and means more the longer you think about it). Knowing this now, you tell me 3 or 4 or 5 things that frank the bunny and all the other things mean...

How come you didn't ask what the wobbly things coming out of their chests were, or the significance of the emotions displayed in the closing scene, or what the school actually was?

      Good luck.

PS: This movie should not be associated with the sequel which has nothing to do with the first movie or its creator/director. The sequel should been seen as an attempt to commercialize on the first movie, not to add insight or further the story. Stick with the theatrical cut (which I think is the one I saw) and the director's cut (man, don't make me watch this movie again, dammit).

  17. QUESTION:
opinions on english essay based on Up on Dowloading by Elise McArdle?
People aren’t going to pay for things that they can get for free regardless of legal measures. People for decades now have been downloading music for free; it has become a habit and a way to get their music. If people must pay for music, people would still use live streaming from sites like Pandora and the music industry would still be in a financial situation. None of the professors could come up with a plan they all agreed on, that’s the challenge they, including the music industry, want to overcome. A lot of people involved with the music and film industry are desperate for answers to resolve this issue. The professors discussing difference solutions have drawn a lot of attention. The Recording Industry Association of America is driving for answers.Fisher’s suggestions to help fix the illegal downloading crisis by replacing the copy right system with a government administered compensation plan, funded by a tax on the hardware and systems. The government does not need any more control. If a world crisis occurs, the money sitting there to pay the music industry would not be paid to those artists but to fund the world crisis. If the government starts raising taxes on those items people will just find a shortcut to cut their expenses and could potentially start downloading movies, games, etc., illegally. That would cause a financial issue in many other industries. In the end, with higher taxes on those items to download music, the person would still be paying for their music, which could possibly be effective if they find a way to demolish every shortcut others could find which is simply impossible in the world of internet. For every site taken down by the government and another site with another address will appear. Fisher’s consequential suggestion is Total Control. Unfortunately, people in this world do not like law and following rules. Then, those who still avoid those higher tax rates on downloading software by using old software, they Total Control approach comes into place. Total Control is a program that will send a virus to a person’s computer, to wipe their hard drive, if they download music by avoiding the high tax. With the Total Control approach, which all professors dislike but Microsoft and the music industry like, would be somewhat more effective, however sending virus to wipes someone’s computer is a crime in itself and defeats the purpose of knocking out a current crime of illegal downloading. Another issue people may have with the Total Control is if someone uses another’s computer to illegally download music without the owner’s consent, wiping the hard drive would be unfair punishment to the owner. However, to the music industry they may believe that the owner is responsible for their guest and the actions they make. They are many sites to avoid being tracked especially by the government. There are very computer savvy people out there who know block whichever virus may come their way. Zittrain somewhat agrees with Fisher’s suggestions to tax on downloading equipment however doesn’t agree with the total control as punishment for those who don’t follow those rules. Nessan comments on the fact that government involved is not a good idea and even Zittrain understands that most people will not like the government involved, but justifies it by saying the government will not choose who gets paid, it will be strictly numbers.. "That's a legitimate worry," concedes Fisher."You're placing a fair amount of discretionary power in a government agency." “However, the agency would not choose which artists are paid, he insists, because compensation would be based simply on numbers--which works are downloaded the most often.” (McArdle, 2004) People these days do not trust the government, including people in the industry. To have people get on board with a government agency handling their money in any way will be a hard task to accomplish.Nesson’s idea is to make the music cheaper, but for a lesser quality. If you want the good stuff, you pay more. He wants to make illegal downloading less attractive. Even though neither suggestion is concrete they are working on an idea that will demolish free downloading. What Nesson doesn’t understand is that you only need one person to buy that song or songs and they can create a site to share music. For every person trying to prevent piracy there are 10 people who can avoid their suggestion. The music industry needs to advertise those who actually still buy music legally opposed to trying to stop those who aren’t. Downloading is a new thing opposed to going out to a store to buy a CD, people are lazy these days. They can get their music from the comfort of their home. What the artist are not aware of is that people usually listen to their music and then go to their concerts, buy their clothing, etc. They are many ways to avoid all of the professor’s suggestion.

  19. QUESTION:
Does anyone Know a website where you can watch anime in english?
I wanna watch Full moon wo Sagashite in english online. Does anyone know a website? Please help.

    • ANSWER:
ok the best place to watch it would be veoh tv

      why?

ok veoh tv is a free aplication that can be downloaded here: http://www.veoh.com/veohTV/getStarted.html . veoh tv has alot of functions but for anime all you need is the build in search engine. with veoh tv you can watch vidoes that are in higher quality than places like myspace, aol and youtube. and you can even download those movies for free with no ltmits or suff like that, and these movies are in high qulity like the qulity that you would watch on a 4:3 or 16:9 tv. one of the greatest thing about it is that it has time limit on the vidoes so you can have a full 1.5 hour movie that you can download or watch. not two mention that when you use the search engine it searchs up veoh.com, google video and even yahoo video. and thats only the seach features it has internet tv and everything

the second best place would be http://www.veoh.com/

veoh the creator of veoh tv is great. the website is set up in a very similar way as youtube so it should be easyer to use. it has most of the perks that veoh tv has exept for these: some movies that are over 1hour to 30 min will only show the first 5 minuts of it and if you want to see more you will have to watch it off the veoh tv, you cant download the video unless you do it through veoh tv. the quality for streaming vidoes are the same thought and its still much better quality than youtube.

the third best place to watch it is: http://www.youtube.com/

youtube the one website where your an idoit if you havent herd of it. it is said that the amount of bandwidth that it uses is about the same bandwith that the whole internet used in 2000 (aka alot of people watch it). due to the fact that everyone knows about it, it has been sued many times for resons that vary from religous reasons to simply retarted retared and supid reasons. and because of this there have been many restrictions that have been posted on it for example you cant have a movie longer than 10 min and theres no download button plus if you go full screan with a moniture bigger than 20inches it looks like crap.

all in all go for veoh tv or if your not allowd to download suff on your computer via parental controls stick with www.veoh.com

Fake a web cam with software that allows you to select an image (.png .bmp .jpg .gif), or movie file (.avi .mpg .swf), as a source for the camera. With WebcamMax.com (free ManyCam.com or trial of YouCam), you can add some fun special effects (frames, masks/faces, warping/morphing, funny scenes, animation, etc) to your web cam stream (or capture/record screen area). 24. QUESTION:
Best way to start learning sign language?
I am 17 and I've always wanted to learn sign language. But I have no clue where to start. I can't take classes because I live in such a small town and there are no sign language classes nearby. I was thinking an online course? Any suggestions?

    Thanks :)
And Does anyone know any good online classes or anything I could use?

    • ANSWER:
ASL is unlike all other, spoken languages. It must be approached in a unique way.

First it is imperative to recognize that ASL is every bit a foreign language. It is not based on English. You do not simply Sign English words according to English word order (syntax) nor do you use English grammar. We do use many English words, but we tend to use them very differently than you do. (COW can be used to mean "not interested".) There is no such thing as "English Sign Language".

Generating a stream of Signed English nouns and verbs pulled from a dictionary is not a language. That is gibberish. You cannot do that with French or German, and you cannot do it with ASL, either. You won't get far using this approach; people will only be able to partially understand you. Too, there is FAR more to ASL than just making Signs. There are many indispensible techniques that must be integrated in order for Signs to make sense. These must be demonstrated to be understood.

ASL is a very unique, complex foreign language that has its own syntax. It is essentially the opposite of English. (ASL is officially categorized as an OSV language. [Object, Subject, Verb.] English is SVO.) ASL has its own semantics, slang, idioms, expressions, and so forth. Learning it requires a very serious, regular commitment. It takes at least as many years to master ASL as it does any other language.

Here are some random examples of simple, proper ASL.

      MOVIE WE GO
      HOUSE TOM LIKE
      CAR JON WANT

It becomes more complex very quickly. (I cannot teach you without the ability to show you.)

CANDY RED ILLEGAL (Don't eat the red candy.)
HORSE COW (I am not interested in horses.)
WHO SAY WHO? (Who in the world said that?)
DEAF LATE SHE (She was not born Deaf.)
IF GO HE NOT CAN (I can go whether he does or not.)
PARENT BOY WANT WRONG GIRL (The parents wanted a boy but they got a girl.)
TRAIN-ZOOM DO-DO? (If you miss what is said, what will do you?)
MOTHER IX SHE IX FACE STRONG! (She resembles her Mother.)
      RACK CL:BB 2h BOOK PUT-up CL:A
DRIVE MMM WRONG CAR CL:3 swerve, HAIR!

If you hope to ever get past 101, Signing as a toddler would, you must have skilled models and teachers. And you will need to have your errors corrected. This is best achieved in the form of accredited college classes with Deaf professors. (You can also hire a Deaf tutour-- maybe one willing to Skype with you.) Students also benefit greatly from working together in the classroom.

There are countless "ASL" sites and media, largely created by misinformed Hearing, and I cannot recommend most of them. Save your money! What they teach is corrupted and not really ASL nor is it what most Deaf adults really use. You will quickly notice that they all say conflicting things. That is because ASL is highly regional. You'll be learning Sign variations that your local Deaf adults will not accept. If you use these media, you will only get misled, confused, and create bad habits that are extremely hard to break. (I know; as a tutour, I get mixed-up "self-taughts" everyday. Recovery for them is very slow and difficult.)

Go to http://lifeprint.com/ . Dr. Bill, a brilliant Deaf man who has a PhD in linguistics and who teaches ASL at university, has free virtual classes that you can take-- in order. It is very important to start with the ASL basics and build according to a plan that introduces various aspects of the language and how it works-- to include ASL grammar and syntax. You should learn what a wise teacher has organized for you rather than chasing random Signs that you want to know. You will not know how to apply them properly, anyway.

You can also take modules with Rob at http://www.westwoodasl.com/ .

Both of these professors are Deaf, experienced, capable, credentialed, licensed teachers.

Most "Signing" on the web is pure rubbish. Always take anything that you find on-line with the largest grain of salt that you can find! Start with the two sites above, get a lay of the land, then you can venture out-- when you can discern fact from fiction.

Read all of the college ASL text books that you can find. (Newbies should avoid "Sign" books available at retail.) You can usually find many at abebooks.com. Study all that you can by celebrated scholars such as William Stokoe and Tom Humphries-Carol Padden. (The latter is a husband-wife team. [They are Deaf.])

Focus on grammar and Deaf culture. Take care to form proper handshapes, and place and move your Signs correctly. The very slightest deviations change and/or corrupt meaning. Go for quality rather than quantity.

You must always get local Deaf-adult approval for every Sign that you want to use. Most Deafs will not accept "outside" Signs or practices.

Wise people know that, if you want to know about ASL, the language of Deaf people, consult Deaf people-- not Hearing. And it is never smart to use a "teacher" who is not credentialed.

England vs United States live soccer match where can i watch in my pc ?

    • ANSWER:
If you want to watch live or even replays, you could try PC TV software. Although you have to pay for it you can keep it after the World Cup and watch all your favourite news, movies, sports channels etc.

      http://www.bestpctvsoftware.net/go

      http://www.bestpctvsoftware.net/football

I've been using this software as I don't have English TV in Spain. All the main TV sites prevent viewers from outside the UK viewing for copyright/licensing reasons I think.

The software I use is called Stream Direct and you get 4,500 channels from all over the world. It's great for the World Cup as there are so many channels in different countries showing the games, so you can always find what you're looking for.

And as a special bonus they give you a free digital video recorder so you can record the games and play them back later. I'm put two links below for more information.

A little tip to save 40% - when you open the link below, try to close the window and an offer for 40% off comes up!! There's a 60 day moneyback guarantee as well so you can't go wrong.

      Come on England!!

  35. QUESTION:
How can I learn sign language?
I would like to learn sign language but I can't find a place to do so. I would really like some suggestions because learning sign language could really help me in my future. Thanks!

You do not just Sign what you hear. You must learn to translate.

Generating a stream of Signed English nouns and verbs, pulled from a dictionary, is not a language. That is gibberish. You cannot do that with French or German, and you cannot do it with ASL. You won't get very far using this method; you'll be only partially understandable. Too, making Signs is only one part of ASL. There are many indispensible techniques that must be integrated for Signs to make sense-- such as inflection and Classifiers.

ASL is a very unique, complex, elusive foreign language with its own syntax. It is essentially the reverse of English. (ASL is officially categorized as an OSV language. [Object, Subject, Verb.] English is SVO.) ASL has its own nuances, semantics, slang, idioms, expressions, et caetera.

Here are two examples of simple OSV syntax.

      MOVIE WE GO
      HOUSE TOM LIKE

      It quickly becomes more complex.

CANDY RED ILLEGAL (Don't eat the red candy.)
HORSE COW (I am not interested in horses.)
DEAF LATE SHE (She was not born Deaf.)
BOY PARENT WANT WRONG GIRL (The parents wanted a boy but they got a girl.)
IF GO HE NOT CAN (I can go whether he does or not.)
WHO SAY WHO? (Who in the world said that?)
TRAIN-ZOOM DO-DO? (If you miss what is said, what will do you?)
MOTHER SHE FACE STRONG! (She resembles her Mother.)
R-A-C-K CL:BB 2h BOOK PUT-up CL:A (Put the book on top of the rack.)
DRIVE MMM OOPS CAR CL:3 swerve, HAIR! (I almost had a car accident.)

Learning ASL requires a serious commitment. It takes at least as many years to master ASL as it does any other language.

If you hope to ever get past 101, Signing as a toddler would, you must have skilled models and teachers. And you will need to have your errors corrected. This is best achieved in the form of accredited college classes with Deaf professors. (You can also hire a Deaf tutour-- maybe one willing to Skype with you.) Students benefit greatly from the shared classroom experience.

There are myriad "ASL" sites and media, largely created by deluded Hearing, and I cannot recommend most of them. Save your money! What they teach is corrupt. It is not really ASL nor is it anything like what most Deaf adults do. You will notice that they all say inconsistent things. That is because ASL is highly regional. If you use these media, you will get misled, confused, and create bad habits that are extremely hard to break. (I know; as a tutour, I get mixed-up "self-taughts" everyday. Recovery for them is very slow and difficult.) You will be learning numerous "outside" Sign variations and practices that your local Deaf adults will not accept. (You must always get local Deaf-adult approval for every Sign that you want to use.)

Newbies should start at http://lifeprint.com/ . Dr. Bill Vicars, a wise and fun Deaf man, with a PhD in linguistics, who teaches ASL at university, has a series of free virtual classes that you can take-- in order. It is very important to start with the ASL basics and build according to a plan that introduces various aspects of the language and how it works-- to include ASL grammar and syntax. You should begin with a proven programme that a judicious teacher has organized for you rather than chasing random Signs that you are curious about. You cannot know how to apply them properly, anyway.

You can also take modules with Rob at http://www.westwoodasl.com/ .

These are two Deaf, experienced, capable, credentialed, licensed professors who will help you to make a proper start.

Most "Signing" on the web is pure rubbish. You should always take all that you find on-line with a large grain of salt. Start with the two sites above, get a lay of the land, then you can venture out-- when you can discern fact from fiction.

Read college ASL text books. (Newbies should avoid "Sign" books available at retail.) You can usually find many at abebooks.com. Read everything by celebrated scholars such as William Stokoe and Tom Humphries-Carol Padden. (The latter is a husband-wife team. They are Deaf.)

Focus on grammar and Deaf culture. Take care to form proper handshapes, and place and move your Signs correctly. The very slightest deviations change and/or corrupt meaning. Go for quality rather than quantity.

Wise people know that, if you want to know about ASL, the language of Deaf people, you must consult Deaf people. And it is never smart to use a "teacher" who is not credentialed.

  37. QUESTION:
where can i watch the old disney chanel and nick tv shows online?
the tv shows back in the 90's were a lot better then the crap they show today.

    • ANSWER:
TVU Online. It is a free down loadable program to watch live streaming TV. Here are some others:

      http://www.tvokay.com/
      http://tvcorn.com/
      http://www.watchtvonpc.net/
      http://www.free-tv-video-online.info/
      http://www.4tv.com/
      http://www.channelking.com/

Just keep in mind, if any site asks you for money to view it, LEAVE. Keep your Firewall turned on, Anti Virus and Anti Spyware running in background.

On any free site, just be cautious. Most are Okay, but there are a few that are risky. The ones I've listed I use regularly. Sometimes they run smoothly, other times they skip and hang or freeze up for long periods.

I recommend using Firefox over Internet explorer. Version 2.0 works with RealPlayer to let you download most videos as a flash movie. It will not work with Firefox 3.0 until a new plugin is available. Do a search for "Ad Blocker Plus" and install this plugin with Firefox. It will eliminate many of the annoying ads that these free sites use. This is how they make their money.

A "Google Search" for free online TV will give you many leads. The Asian Websites tend to be the worst on quality (ie: TVOkay, YouKu, and others). The USA and UK sites tend to be better streaming or download than others. Many are available around the world in many languages. Most American movies or TV shows are in English, but may have subtitles in Japanese, Korean, Spanish, German, etc.

  39. QUESTION:
what is a good website to watch tv seasons and movies for free?
i am obsessed with grey's anatomy but missed the first four seasons, and want to catch up. any good websites?

    • ANSWER:
      www.kino.to
You can't change the language from german to english, but almost every american show is there also watchable in english, Just type in the name of whatever you wanna watch in the bar in the right upper corner on the site... you'll know what I mean when you're on that page. Then there's a lost of shows to come. just click one of the choice possibilities that is marked with the Union-Jack, so you're gonna get it in english.

Or I'm just gonna give you the link:
      http://kino.to/Stream/Greys_Anatomy-1.html

In the flied that says "Staffel" you're selecting the season.
In the field that says "Episoden Auswahl" you can select the episode you want to watch.

Then choose (whenever possible) Megavideo, that's the easiest way to go.
Whenever that's not possible, choose "MyStream.to", which will open another site where you can watch your episode.

Okay, I'm definitly making this way too complicated. The site is easy to handle.

  40. QUESTION:
what program do you use to make a commercial?
my english class group has to make a commercial about "Of Mice and Men" and we don't know exactly how to do that. Help please?

    • ANSWER:
You need a software that allows for transitions, generated media and multiple audio/video streams. At the low end is Sony Vega Movie Studio and Adobe Premier Elements. At the high end side is Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas with Pinnacle's AVID system being the most expensive. For really cheap, like in free, you can use Windows Movie maker.

  42. QUESTION:
Where can i watch ALL 1 through 5 season episodes of sailor moon for FREE & NO DOWNLOAD online?
i wanna watch all the sailor moon episodes from the first to the last for free with no download required.
    please and thank you! (;

    • ANSWER:
If you want to watch all five seasons of Sailor Moon online plus the movies you can watch them on YouTube or an anime webpage which streams:

      YouTube:

English eps: http://www.youtube.com/user/SassySunbeam (she also has some Japanese eps here)

Japanese eps: http://www.youtube.com/user/SailorMoonCenter09 (which is where you get redirected to when going to the "Sailor Moon Center" webpage)

They are DVD Rips so they are excellent quality. My friend is working on a Sailor Stars dub which is really popular, but he has only released a few eps so far: http://www.youtube.com/user/starsfandub

If you don't want to watch on YouTube:

      English: http://www.justdubs.net/section.php?id=87

      Japanese: http://animeseed.com/index.php/site-content/anime-pages/sailor-moon/?p=622
(episode 77 and the Sailor Moon R movie are in dub for some reason... >__<) Enjoy!!! XD

  43. QUESTION:
Where can I find movies online that are in English, but have German subtitles too?
No downloading, surveys, or anything like that, just simple free online streaming like putlocker, megavideo, loombo, novamov, frogmovz, karambavidz, ...etc.
If I absolutely totally cannot watch online, then download has to be free and mac compatible.

Or is there a way to add german subtitles to either go along with movies I owe on DVD, or have digital copies of?

You do not simply Sign English words according to English word order (syntax) nor do you use English grammar. We do use many English words, but we tend to use them very differently than you do. (COW can be used to mean "not interested".) There is no such thing as "English Sign Language".
